Message from our Headteacher
Welcome back from the half term break! As we look to the term ahead we will be welcoming our new Year 7 and new Year 12 students into school for induction at the end of the month. We also have Shrek and Celebration Week to look forward to this term.
Earlier this week, I had the privilege of listening to presentations from our Head Girl applicants about our school. It was wonderful to hear the students speaking so positively about all of the things they love about our school with community, diversity, extra-curricular activities, pastoral support and the school environment all being named.
It was also very interesting to hear of the suggestions for improvement, many of which we will be implementing.

Please note that the Non-Uniform day for students on Friday 20th June has been moved to Friday 27th June.
Instrumental Music Lessons 2025-2026
Parents/Carers who have applied for music lessons for next year 2025-26 should have received information about their daughter’s provisional music lesson allocation.
To secure your daughter’s space, please remember to make payment for lessons for the Autumn term 2025 via Parentpay, by Sunday 15th June 2025
If you are having trouble logging into ParentPay or are experiencing difficulties making the payment, please contact our Finance Department at accounts@wghs.org.uk
Please note: If payment is not received by 15th June 2025, and we have not heard from you, we will assume that you no longer wish your daughter to take up the lessons, and the place will be offered to another student.
Tickets for Shrek on Sale Now!

The Anthea Bell Prize Winners!
A huge congratulations to Madison , Aanya (both Year 9) and Ashalina (Year 11) for being awarded The Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators. All three students worked incredibly hard translating German to English for various texts. A fantastic achievement!
The Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators is a UK-wide competition for students aged 11-18, designed to encourage creative translation and language learning. petition is inspired by the work of Anthea Bell, a renowned literary translator, and is run by the Translation Exchange at The Queen's College, Oxford.
Level 2 Qualification in TEFL

A Level 2 Certified Learning Course in TEFL (120 hours) is a comprehensive online course designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge to teach English as a Foreign Language. The course typically covers a range of topics including grammar, lesson planning, classroom management, and various teaching methodologies. Completion of the course usually results in a formal certificate that can be used to boost a CV or to apply for TEFL teaching positions.
