AMessagefromourHeadteacher

As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding school year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our parents and carers for the encouragement, trust and support you have shown throughout the year. The partnership between home and school plays such an important role in our students' success, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do.

This year has been full of opportunities for our students to learn, challenge themselves and grow. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, on stage, through enrichment activities or in the wider community, they have represented Wolverhampton Girls' High School with enthusiasm, kindness and determination. We are immensely proud of all they have achieved.

I would also like to thank our dedicated staff, whose commitment and care ensure that every student is supported to achieve her very best. Their passion and hard work continue to make our school such a special place to learn and thrive.

As the summer holidays begin, I hope everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a wellearned break, spend time with family and friends, and return in September feeling refreshed and ready for another exciting year.

Term commences for the new Year 7 and 12 at 8.50am on Wednesday 2 September, with all other year groups returning on Thursday 3 September. nd rd

SchoolFund

We have recently had a student vote about our upcoming School Fund Project for the Autumn Term. Following the vote (which 500 students took part in) the project we will be looking to raise funds for is a Recording and Pod-Casting Studio! At Wolverhampton Girls' High School, we want our students to leave not only with exceptional academic results, but also with the confidence and skills to communicate their ideas, collaborate with others and make a positive impact in the world. A dedicated Recording & Podcasting Studio will provide students with exciting opportunities to develop these skills in a modern, engaging environment. Whether recording podcasts, producing interviews, creating revision resources, hosting debates or sharing stories from our school community, students will learn valuable communication, digital media and presentation skills that are increasingly important in higher education and the workplace.

On Sports Day we held our first in school fundraiser ‘Staff in the Stocks’, thank you so much for our teachers for being such good sports in blazing sunshine - we raised £54 which will go towards our School Fund project.

If you are able to support our School Community Fund and contribute towards our project please use the link below to register. Every donation, no matter the size, helps create opportunities for our students to find their voice, share their ideas and develop the skills they'll carry with them long after they leave Wolverhampton Girls' High School As always thank you for your support!

Rookie Lifeguard Success and Staying Safe This Summer

Congratulations to Yixin, Feranmi and Imogen (Y8) who have successfully achieved their Rookie Lifeguard Award badges this year Their hard work, commitment and enthusiasm have helped them develop valuable lifesaving skills, from rescue techniques and first aid to understanding how to stay safe in and around water

As we head into the summer holidays, these achievements are particularly important. Whether you ' re visiting the beach, swimming in a lake, paddleboarding or enjoying time at a local pool, remembering the principles of water safety can make all the difference.

We encourage all students and families to:

Swim at lifeguarded beaches or supervised pools whenever possible.

Never enter the water alone and always look out for your friends. Be aware of changing conditions, such as currents, cold water and hidden hazards. Wear a buoyancy aid for activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding or boating.

Call 999 and ask for the Coastguard if you see someone in trouble at the coast. Well done once again to Yixin, Feranmi and Imogen. We hope you'll continue to use your knowledge to keep yourselves and others safe, and wish all of our families a fun, relaxing and, above all, safe summer holiday.

CelebrationWeek

Last week was Celebration and our students had an incredible time on their various trips, Year 12 went to Lake Garda, Year 7 on residential to Laches Wood and in between we had visits to Cadbury’s World, Safari Park, Dudley Zoo, Botanical Gardens, Carding Mill Valley, Alton Towers and lots of exciting activities in school too including Problem Solving, Box Theatre, MFL day and a Maths challenge day- what a week!

CelebrationWeek

Year 7 Warwick Castle

During Celebration week, Year 7 had a visit to Warwick Castle which was an amazing day out! We began our day with a walk around the grounds then to watch the Viking Invader show! It was a super fun way to present a historic battle, with many on horseback, fighting to be the Ruler of that time! We also enjoyed the Falconer’s quest show which displayed many incredible birds of prey including the Bald Eagle, the Peregrine Falcon and the largest flying bird in the world, the Andean Condor. We made a stop for lunch, and then some of us ventured in “Guy’s Tower”, which was built during King Richard the II reign. It has five hundred steps and was so fascinating to climb! Additionally, we also watched the Trebuchet in action, the largest working siege machine, standing 60 feet tall and weighing 22 tonnes! We also went inside the castle, which displayed centuries old fascinating artefacts, and in the great hall stood an 1800s intricately carved wooden table featuring dancing bears and over one thousand pieces of weaponry! To finish our amazing day, we took part in the Horrible histories maze and then went to the gift shops! All I can say is what an amazing day out it was, especially with the lovely sunny weather! What a great way to end the year!

CelebrationWeek

Lake Garda -Year 12 (by Millie,Ashalina and Jasmine)

FRIDAY

We couldn't have been more excited as we set off on our Lake Garda residential. Despite the early start, the buzz of anticipation made the journey fly by, and before we knew it, we had landed at Milan Bergamo Airport, full of energy and eager to begin what promised to be an unforgettable WGHS adventure. The coach journey to Sirmione was filled with laughter, music and excitement as we watched the beautiful Italian scenery unfold Our first activity certainly didn't disappoint We climbed aboard the jet boat at Lake in Sirmione, and within moments, the powerful engines roared into life and we were racing across the crystal-clear water. The cool spray splashed over us and many of us stretched our hands into the sparkling lake, feeling the refreshing water glide through our fingers as our favourite songs blasted through the speakers. It was the perfect summer holiday one we'll remember for years to come.

SATURDAY

One of our favourite days on the Lake Garda trip was visiting the beautiful towns of Malcesine and Limone We started by driving right next to the lake to Malcesine before boarding a boat to Limone The boat journey was an incredible, travelling across the vibrant blue lake with mountains surrounding us. The views were absolutely stunning and made the journey just as enjoyable as the destination itself. When we arrived in Limone, we explored the picturesque streets, which are famous for their lemons (per the name Limone), boasting lovely shops to look around, views across the lake wherever we went, and endless ice cream!

After taking the boat back to Malcesine, we spent some time exploring the town before heading up Monte Baldo on the rotating cable car It was such an exhilarating experience travelling high into the mountains and seeing the lake from new heights. At the top, we hiked a little further to reach a viewpoint filled with panoramic views over Lake Garda, perfect for some cinematic photos! We finished the day by travelling back down the mountain on the cable car before returning to the hotel, enjoying the Italian countryside in the evening sun. This really rounded off an unforgettable day full of amazing scenery, new experiences and unique memories for us all to remember!

SUNDAY

On Sunday we made it over to Gardaland, the local theme park, where we spent most of the day. There was a huge range of rides on offer, including a brother ride to Oblivion, some smaller water rides, and even some rides where we ended up overseeing Lake Garda in all its glory from the top.

Whether it was running around and through the barriers of rides when there was no one in the queue, or trying to work out where the cameras were so we could at least try to smile, it was a great day of bonding and thrill-seeking, and even some School-song singing to pass the time! Some explored in smaller groups, and some in slightly bigger, but I don't think anything will beat the mega group with 15 of us all queuing for the Jumanji-themed and water rides together.

From the unbelievably short queue times compared to Alton Towers across the park leading us to testing out almost every ride the park had to offer, I'd say it was a perfect day out, and exactly what we needed to get out some adrenaline and put us in the mood for work experience and the final week of the school year We then headed over to a pizza restaurant to finish, before going back to the hotel to rest and pack before the final day (and the England vs Mexico game of course!)

MONDAY

On Monday we travelled to the beautiful and historic city of Verona, where our guided tour brought the city's rich history to life as we wandered through picturesque streets filled with stunning architecture, lively cafés and charming piazzas Visiting Juliet's House and the famous Love Letters Wall was a real highlight, reminding us why Verona is known as one of the world's most romantic cities We were equally amazed by the magnificent Verona Arena. Knowing that this incredible Roman amphitheatre has stood for almost 2,000 years left us in awe. Finally, the afternoon gave us time to explore the colourful streets, shops, and treat ourselves to the delicious fresh focaccia and other authentic Italian treats. Every corner of the city had something new to discover, whether it was a hidden square, a beautiful building or the irresistible smell of freshly baked food
