As we begin Summer Term 2, I would like to welcome everyone back for what promises to be another busy and exciting half term at WGHS.
Our examination season continues, and I would like to commend all students for their hard work, resilience and determination as they prepare for and complete their assessments. It has also been wonderful to see our recent familiarisation events for prospective students and families take place so successfully, helping to support Year 5 girls feel more comfortable with the Entrance Test in September.
We are proud to have participated in the Wolverhampton Community Games Baton Pass, celebrating the spirit of sport and community across the city.
Alongside this, the first of our music recitals have showcased the remarkable talents of our students, and we are all looking forward to the upcoming production of The Addams Family, which promises to be a fantastic highlight of the term.
I encourage everyone to get involved in the many opportunities ahead and wish all members of our school community a successful and enjoyable Summer Term 2.

The Addams Family Musical

Something mysterious, mischievous, and magnificently macabre is creeping into Wolverhampton Girls' High School this summer...
We are delighted to invite you to our whole-school production of The Addams Family Musical – a delightfully dark and hilariously heartwarming show packed with spooky charm, unforgettable songs, and plenty of laughs.
Join Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester, and the rest of the wonderfully weird Addams clan as they navigate a surprising family secret and prepare for one unforgettable dinner with a perfectly "normal" family. Based on the beloved characters created by Charles Addams, this musical celebrates love, family, and the beauty of embracing what makes us unique.
Our talented cast and crew have been dying to share their hard work with you, and we promise an evening that will leave you snapping your fingers all the way home!

Wolverhampton Community Games Baton Journey
As part of the Wolverhampton Community Games Baton Journey, students and staff proudly took part in receiving the baton from Bantock Primary to WGHS before continuing the relay to St Andrew's The event celebrates the importance of community spirit, teamwork and the values of sport. Participants enthusiastically welcomed the baton to WGHS, where it was passed between students before setting off on the next stage of its journey. The occasion was a fantastic opportunity for students to represent the school, engage with the wider school community, and be part of an inspiring city-wide celebration leading up to the Common Wealth Games

KS3 Vocal Recitals
The Key Stage 3 Summer Vocal Recital on Thursday 11 June was a wonderful celebration of the talent, dedication and confidence of our young singers. Students from Years 7 to 9 performed a variety of songs, showcasing their vocal abilities and musical development throughout the year. The recital featured both solo and duo performances, with students demonstrating excellent stage presence and enthusiasm. Friends and staff enjoyed an entertaining afternoon of music, and the event highlighted the hard work of both the performers and their teachers.
We look forward to the remaing music recitals in the coming weeks.

Hope you have all had a lovely half term, especially in the blistering heat. With the recent bouts of rain, it's easy to forget how scorching our week off was. Speaking of scorching hot, the summer holidays are on the horizon - only 5 weeks or so away! Which also means 5 weeks to get some library reading done...
Here are the overall results for June so far: As of 8th June, we ' ve had 40 books taken out of the Library. We ended May with 170 books borrowed in total So far, our most popular book has been The Almighty Dollar by Dharshini David - a book studied by our Year 7 students as part of their Geography lessons! My Star Library Borrower for the first part of June is... Keerat in Ferrers House! ⭐
As for our eLibrary:
We've had 34 loans so far in June. Our most popular eBook has been the Lottie Brooks Bundle by Katie Kirby, which includes the first two books in the Lottie Brooks series!

Library Lessons
Every half term, each English group in KS3 comes down to the Library to receive a Library Lesson, designed and led by Miss Rowe, our librarian. Our Year 7, 8 and 9 students have been involved in a range of different activities during this academic year - from learning about the Dewey Decimal system and how to store library books, to predicting the plot of a book chosen at random using only the cover, to inventing a new character for their current reading book For the last Library Lesson of the academic year, Miss Rowe has designed two different board games, both of which require the students to answer reading-themed questions before they can progress. KS3 have had a fantastic time with their Library Lessons this year!
