Toscana Strings—Year 7 Review Last Friday our Year 7 students enjoyed a live performance by the Toscana Strings String Quartet, which featured the story of Wind in the Willows and Peter and the Wolf, brought to life through music and dance.

In 2019, Toscana Strings were awarded Best Workshop Provider by Primary Music Magazine with two of the performers, Miss Bourne and Mrs Clennell, being our talented instrumental teachers. They’ve since teamed up with Laura Tye, former soloist with Birmingham Royal Ballet, to create dynamic concerts that combine music and dance, now performed in schools and public venues. Our Year 7's were taught mimes and dance moves to join in with the performance, as well as the opportunity for a Q&A session at the end of the performance.

Year 7 really enjoyed the fantastic performances, full of music and dance!

See reviews from 4 of our students below: I really enjoyed the string Quartet performance as they really helped me to understand the harmony and the dynamics of the string family that we study in music. The thing I found interesting was the different stories they were telling and replacing some instruments to get the same results as the original instruments would give. For example, they replaced the flute (from the woodwind family) with a viola. I really enjoyed the fact that we could join in with the dancer when she was acting as the character and the general performance. - Sakina, Year 7 student.

I thoroughly enjoyed the event—it was interactive, engaging, and a lot of fun to watch! The story conveyed through the performance was exceptionally clear and easy to follow, which made it all the more enjoyable. It was truly impressive to see how music and dance combined to bring the narrative to life so vividly. Personally, my favourite part was the interactions, where we all stood up and were able to take part - no matter how funny the move! I enjoyed this as it included audience participation and allowed us to see a live string quintet. For those who wants to play at a professional level with a musical instrument or wants to be a dancer, it was a very inspiring way to see how it works. The Q&A at the end was a great idea as it enabled us to figure out more about the musical instruments we learnt about in class, the pathway for it and how life is like for a dancer. Parking notice

A reminder to parents and carers about parking during drop off and pick up times.

Please be considerate of our school community and neighbours. We have received multiple reports about cars collecting students blocking driveways, parking on double yellow lines, U-turns on the Tettenhall Road and reversing towards oncoming traffic. This is incredibly dangerous and puts our students, other drivers and the local community at risk. If we continue to receive these reports we shall be in touch with the police and traffic enforcement officers. Thank you for your cooperation.

More success on the slopes for Hattie Over half term Hattie travelled to Bormio, Italy with her team from Team Evolution Ski to compete in the annual prestigious All English Championships hosted by Snowsports England.

Hattie put on an amazing performance competing as a first year U14, successfully completing all 6 races over the five day event, including her first ever Super G on the legendary Stelvio race piste home of the 2026 Winter Olympic downhill.

She gave strong performances in all three disciplines with over 50 competitors in her category alone, she managed to secure 2nd place in Super G, 1st year of birth - With a further 4th and 5th in Slalom and 8th and 11th in Giant Slalom.

Her efforts were awarded at the final awards ceremony where she secured 3rd place U14 female.

Hattie also competed in other events, including the Nations cup which is a series of races held in Austria. Again, she secured podium results on all races.
