Terras Times The newsletter of Weymouth FC Supporters Association.
October 2020 2018/2019 Southern League Champions 2019/2020 National League South play off winners. Hi Terras fans, Welcome to this months members newsletter. I would like for formally extend a warm welcome to all of the new sign-ups and hope that despite all of the drama and stress in the world that you are well. This newsletter is as much your voice as it is anyone's so why not get in touch and tell us your stories or submit an article telling us about yourself and your favourite Weymouth FC memories? We would love to hear from you. It's been a frantic start to the season with a draw and a defeat (at the time of writing) and the step up is plain to see. But, it's important we stick with the team and Manager and fingers crossed a win and decent run aren’t too far away. Even being up here in Lincolnshire I am feeling the frustration of not being able to go to matches. I hope that the various campaigns on the internet to get fans back in grounds are successful. This months sees the first in a series of interviews with the Ladies team, a group of players we are really proud of and can’t wait to hear more from. Enjoy! James

Terras Times The newsletter of Weymouth FC Supporters Association.
Hello everyone. Welcome to the October edition of our Terras Supporters Club newsletter. I hope you are all keeping safe and well. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new members, thank you so much for your support, we really appreciate it. We hope that once life starts to return to some semblance of normality, we will be able to start engaging with you all at a much more personal and involving level and you will appreciate the benefits of club membership. There are so many social media streams it is hard to keep up with them these days, we do however have members dedicated to looking after these avenues of communication, so please feel free to get in touch and give us your views, opinions and ideas. We are a constantly evolving organisation and we will never rest on our laurels. I am not personally contactable via Twitter etc but messages for me are passed on. I am always available at the end of our email though, at weymouthfcsa@gmail.com so please get in touch if there is something you wish to get off your chest. Hopefully before too long, I will be back in the club shop and we can have a chat ‘offline’! It is wonderful to once again see a ladies team playing under the Weymouth FC banner, it is another measure of how hard everyone has worked to make the club a force for good in the community it represents. There is still much to do in that regard, but it is truly heartwarming to see Natalie and her team in Terras colours. Welcome and the very best of luck for the coming season. We are planning our AGM, which is proving to be a bit of a challenge this year. We were hopeful that things would have relaxed a bit and we could meet some of you in person. Sadly, that is no going to be the case. We are planning to hold the AGM on Thursday 26 November, we hope using Zoom. We are working on how we will involve our members; our IT experts are looking at ways to ensure everyone, who wants to that is, are able to vote on the various motions and proposals. We have decided against trying to hold a virtual AGM, along the lines of the current political party annual conferences, we have had to acknowledge that we lack the expertise and experience to try something quite so bold! We will keep you all informed of progress and our plans as they develop. At the time of writing, we still had no official confirmation of our season starting as planned on 3 October, hopefully everything has worked out in that regard? In Brian Stock we have a young and hungry manager who is very keen and up for the challenge of maintaining our hard earned place at non-league football’s top table. It promises to be a challenging season for sure, but it should also be an exciting one! Hopefully, we will all get to witness some of it! Until such time as we can safely meet again on the terraces, please stay safe and well and take good care of your loved ones. Until next month. Best wishes to you all. Howard talks to ‘Terras Times’.
When did you first hear about WFC ladies ?
I first heard about Weymouth Women when my friend messaged me and sent me over the advertisement for the open session. I was looking for a new challenge and thought I would go along to the training session, I am so glad I did!
2.
What's the atmosphere like in the team?
The atmosphere in the club is brilliant, it really is amazing! The players who turns up to training and matches work really hard individually and as a team to make things happen and to win games. There is a wealth of experience amongst the girls as many have been playing football from an early age like myself or for a long time, this helps the younger players develop the game. The management is by far the best I have come across.. they are so supportive, welcoming and you know where you stand with them which is also great! Each coach brings great knowledge to the table which is vital when running a team.
3.
How big a club can WFC ladies become?
The club can become as big as it wants to be! I am sure Natalie and coaches will do their utmost to keep progressing further to bigger and better things. As long as every player gives it their all each session and match I do not see this being an issue! All of the players are dedicated and enthusiastic and look forward to being on the pitch every time.
4.
What's your dream outcome for this season?
My dream outcome this season is to win.. which I know it is for most of the girls too! To embed Weymouth Women’s Football Club, to put our stamp on the league and the club to be a force to be reckoned with! I know we can achieve anything as long as we work hard, this season will be hard but we are under dogs as we are the new comers. Thanks Shakira and good luck for the season. We are all with you.
