Terras Times The newsletter of Weymouth FC Supporters Association.
June 2022 EDITORIAL Hello everyone and welcome to the June 2022 edition of the WFCSA newsletter. As with the last couple of June editions, there is a quiz element with a cross word of local teams and word search I hope that it can make that hour on the beach before the pool bar opens go more quickly! Although it's not like (at the time of writing) it's that easy to get out of the UK via an airport so you might be racking your brain for answers to the question sat by the harbourside in Weymouth with a bag of chips. That leads me neatly on to Terry Bennett. I know we had a paragraph about his sad death in the last newsletter but that didn’t feel enough. Terry was a massive character in and around both the club and the town and my personal experience of him was always eventful. Coming after Peter Shaw and Don Stevens, Terry was another personality who shot from the hip and never forgot a face or conversation. Many years after his time at the club had ended my family and I were on holiday in Weymouth and went to get our dinner at his restaurant. Despite thinking he wouldn’t, Bennett recognised me and wanted to ask me about WFC. He will be missed around Weymouth.. As we got towards the publish date of this newsletter another member of WFC from a similar period to Bennett, Terry Northover passed away. Northover fulfilled a number of roles for Weymouth FC and I am sure you will all join me in sending condolences to his friends and family. Next month the newsletter will be back to its normal format with all of the latest news and updates from the Supporters Association. In the meantime, have a lovely summer. James
