From the Editors Chair I am in the seat for Joe this month and would like to wish all Terras fans and their families a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

As always with Weymouth Football Club , it has been an interesting an eventful year. We have had a change of Chairman and change of Manager both of which caused a bit of uncertainty and drama at the time.

I think we should be proud of our results and performances during the year which are recognised elsewhere in the newsletter. Let us know your highlights of the year and we can include them next month.

#TerrasGold 2017 It seems odd to have a Terras Gold moment from this year, but we are being all introspective and looking at how 2017 has panned out for the club , so why not?

My gold moment came very early in the 2017/2018 season indeed. Having been beaten by St Ives on the opening day, my Dad and I had to battle the holiday makers heading to nearby Stansted as we chugged down the M11 to Bishops Stortford.

Before he had managed to put ketchup on his hotdog, the Terras were behind. Same old away performance in the north we thought. But how wrong we were. This Weymouth side showed grit and bottle and went in at half time ahead through two Ben Thomson strikes. The hosts battled back level late on and we looked set for a point until Mark Travers decided to chip their goalkeeper from midway inside his own half.

The ball looped over the home gloveman's (since released from the club) head and into the goal.

There was silence before the celebrations could begin and all who were there will never forget it. So for me there could be only one gold moment of the year. Amazing!

2017 WFCSA Unofficial Newsletter Awards!

Player of the year Now he has come back from some horrible team in a barren wasteland, we are allowed to say Stephane Zubar. Those closing weeks of 2016/2017 saw him perform outstandingly well. We are glad he is back.

Performance of the Year It has to be away at Farnborough. Sure we have beaten teams higher than them in the league table but to put in such a comprehensive performance whistle to whistle away from home is a rare treat and deserving of honour. Honourable mentions to Kings Lynn and Basingstoke away as well.

Worst Performance of the Year A few in the run in of last season could take the honours but for sheer volume of social media and forum disgruntlement, the 1-1 home draw with Kings Langley in March wins the award.

Signing of the Year Tough category this with a new Manager bringing in a large number of own players, but so far Harry Baker looks the real deal and a forward who can go a long way in the game.

Departure of the Year You have to give Chris Shepherd an honourable mention here. A player who would be playing league football but for her appalling luck with injury. He showed flashes of brilliance at the Terras. However Stewart Yetton leaving was the moment that made the biggest impression on me and felt like one of the family moving away.
