From the Editors Chair By the time you read this issue we will have kicked off our Conference South campaign.

I am reluctant to say that we are “back where we belong” or any other football related cliché, because in sport as in life you get rewards for hard work and dedication. Nothing is a given.

That’s what makes WFC such a special place at the minute. After years of false dawns and quick fixes, the Terras are trying to build and trying to do it organically and with care.

People up here in Lincolnshire keep asking me how I will feel as the season kicks off. I tell them that its going to be an occasion and whatever happens the club is the most important thing.

I wonder if football followers outside of the Weymouth FC bubble understand that there have been a number of times in living memory where we’ve attended the Bob Lucas Stadium wondering if there would be a next game for the team.

There is a chance that our win %age might not be so high in 2019/2020, but I don’t see the fans losing the faith or losing a view of the bigger picture for the club.

Bring it on !

James Kit launch Weymouth FC and Umbro have launched the clubs new away kit for season 2019/2020. The yellow shirt replaces the popular white kit which has served the team well over the last couple of years.

The new design is part of the latest release of kit templates from Umbro and is sponsored by Nova Builders.

We would like to thank them for their support of WFC. The new kit will be available from the club shop shortly along with the “Champions DVD” which chronicles last seasons league title win.

Chairman’s Chatter Welcome to the August edition of the Supporters Association Newsletter.

We trust you are having an enjoyable summer and are able to make the most of the glorious weather we currently enjoy. The off season and pre-season has flown by and the new campaign and the exciting challenge of pitting ourselves against the teams in National League South will soon be upon us!

I hope you are excited and looking forward to it as much a I am?

Hopefully you will have seen on the clubs social media and website the fantastic work that has gone on over the summer to improve the spectator experience for all. The new roof is on and the new seats are all installed ready for the off. In addition to this, there has been a constant small band of willing volunteers making all kinds of improvements, painting, cleaning and carrying out all manner of repairs. We give our thanks to everyone who has played a role in bringing about these changes to the Bob Lucas Stadium, it has been a lot of hard work, but when you see the end product, it has been well worth the effort. Work is still ongoing and there is much more that still needs to be done but we are getting there.

Whats new?

Weymouth FC have used the off season to relaunch the clubs popular website. The new site features bigger pictures and lengthy detailed statistics. As part of the match day experience the “Live Match Centre” will now feature audio commentary from matches, both home and away . This is a welcome and brilliant new initiative that we hope all fans get behind.

It’s back!!!

Saturday afternoons - or for me in Sydney, early Sunday mornings - are all about the Terras roller coaster. The weekly ritual of bleary-eyed checking the Weymouth score has often been a letdown over the past decade.

Too often years of relegations, could-do-betters and not quite good enough. Last season was different and provided plenty of joy for this Exile Down Under.

Win after win and goal after goal (many by Brandon Goodship... farewell and good luck) saw the Southern League championship back in the club trophy cabinet. Having reported for the Dorset Echo on our last league championship triumph in 2005 (and watched from the terraces in 1997 as David Laws and others claimed a title) this latest success was just as sweet - despite the distance.

Having seen two games in person over the past two seasons, I am not qualified to legitimately comment on the merits and strengths of Mark Moseley’s squad. The occasional goal highlights on the internet are not much to go from. But by all accounts, there is plenty of optimism around the town ahead of the new season.

Weymouth will this season take on many familiar names from our history - Maidstone, Bath City and Chelmsford in the opening three games alone. To a Non League traditionalist, a scan of the fixtures implies we are back in a ‘proper’ league again. So what is success this season? Some would argue a mid table finish would be solid and respectable progress. Alternatively, recent history elsewhere in Non League indicates momentum can propel you through the leagues.

Why not a play off finish - or given the track record of new recruits - can back-to-back promotions be beyond a possibility? As the well-worn phrase goes, is the sleeping giant finally awake? A closing word about our manager Mark Moseley. From afar, like his counterpart at AFC Bournemouth, Eddie Howe, Moseley appears to have quietly and diligently developed a young crop of players into a formidable team. Should Howe ever move to greater managerial heights, it would not be a surprise if Moseley’s record with Weymouth makes him a contender for the top job at the Cherries.

Another season like the last with the Terras and the former Aldershot midfielder’s record should have him considered alongside the likes of Frank O’Farrell as one of Weymouth’s most successful managers. On behalf of us exiles, here’s to the another nine months of twitter updates, forum Scanning and YouTube highlights. Mark and the boys, we’ll be thinking of you... Come on you Terras. I predict a mid-table finish for us this season.

But after the long lost decade of non-league mediocrity I'd snap your hand off for Connie South survival. I think Jordan Ngalo will carry on his meteoric improvement in a Terras shirt and Josh McQoid will have us worshipping at his feet before getting snapped up by a league side in the next window..
