Chairman’s Chat Seasons greetings Terras fans. It’s been yet another eventful few weeks for the club on the park with the end of our FA Trophy run coming last night. We still have the Poole win to cling on to though! Thoughts now turn to the big derby with Dorchester on Boxing Day in what will be an important match at the end of the table we both find ourselves competing at. Sadly not the one we both wanted… But there is still a good portion of the season to go and plenty that can still be achieved,
Joe Editors Viewpoint I am not sure what I expected from this role. I knew I wanted to do something, despite living in Cambridgeshire, and I knew I wanted to contribute in a small way to Weymouth Football Club. As a political animal, the club has been compared to many things, some of them most unfavourably. So for “Terras Times” to get almost universal positive feedback and praise makes me very happy! Of course there are areas I want to improve and I have been happy to address any constructive feedback to improve this document over the coming months. So don’t be shy! What’s in Store ? The club shop is now stocking the latest book about the club. The Weymouth Shirt Story is a collection of photographs and writing charting the history of the clubs famous kit. With former players and Managers adding their thoughts on the kits they wore, there are lots of memories in this book. Cost is £7.50 at the club which is a massive saving on the Amazon price.

League form needed please... It’s a bizarre season to be following Weymouth, even by our standards. League form has been patchy at best whilst in the cups we have ticked along nicely, accruing funds and getting close to the pointy end of the competitions. But the bread and butter is what matters… Although, whisper it quietly, I am delighted with the recent wins over Poole. There is a level of professionalism needed in an official supporters club newsletter, of course. But, the way Tom Killick spoke on the non-league show one week before completely contradicting himself on the BBC Solent podcast after we beat them had me in hysterics. I hadn’t laughed quite that loud since I watched him playing for us (sorry Tom, only joking). His view of the match sounded like he was watching through a skylight… something I know he invariably does. Anyhow, we need to focus on ourselves and on getting our league show back on the road. It might be too late for this season, but there are still plenty of points to play for and plenty of places in the team for next season that will need filling. Keep battling lads!
NOTICE BOARD Our social media activity is continuing to grow apace. Many recent Tweets are getting close to 1000 impressions, so please keep sharing our content to help us grow.
I'm pleased to have joined the board on the supporters association. WFC has always been a passion of mine from a very young age and I look forward to my role as youth representative and I promise wholeheartedly that I will do everything I can to represent not only young supporters but do everything I can to get young people involved in the football club and pleasingly more and more are joining as volunteers! This is fantastic! I think it's time that we all work together as there are some great people doing great things at Weymouth Football Club. Come on you Terras!
Old players unite‌ In writing the Weymouth Shirt Story I was delighted to engage with a couple of former players and Managers of the club in Ian Hutchinson and John Waldock. Aside from the excellent contribution they made to the book, the passion and desire to support the Terras in any way they could came through strongly.
So what can we do to engage them with the WFCSA and try and harness the undoubted talents they have with regards to the club. Could we job spec an ambassadorial role out for one of them? Let me know what you think and share any thoughts via weymouthfcsa@gmail.com
