From the Editors Chair There is never a dull moment when you are involved with Weymouth Football club, that much is guaranteed. First off I would like to apologise for the latest delay in the newsletter being published. After taking on this role, I have changed jobs and am now moving home. All of which interferes greatly with my support and available time to dedicate to Weymouth Football Club. However, fingers crossed these issues away from the pitch will be resolved shortly allowing a more regular service from both WFCSA and myself when it comes to this newsletter. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome both of the recent Chairman appointments to their new roles. Keith Seymour who has taken over from Joe at WFCSA and Ian White who has recently been announced as the new Chair of the Weymouth Football Club . I am sure you would all like to join me in welcoming both in post and wish them the very best in their new positions at the club. On the field it remains an exciting time to be connected with this football club as we look like mounting our first serious promotion push for almost a decade. Good luck to Mark and the lads in that quest.

Along with Ian White being appointed as the new Chairman of Weymouth Football Club, there has been further strengthening of the management board. Simon Etherington and Mark Golsby joined the board at the end of January, each bringing key skills to the table. It’s a really exciting time on the field as the Terras look towards making the play offs and with new appointments in the board room we are confident the positivity and goodwill currently emanating around the club can carry on and grow.

#TerrasGold 2016 Despite a final league position of 10th and the end of Jason Matthews’ reign, the 2016/2017 season started with great hope and expectation. The opening day saw Weymouth make the long trek northwards to play Biggleswade Town (a fixture only a week or so away from now). The Waders had made a few changes in the off season but were still packed with big, quick, physical players. The Terras would need to be on their mettle. They started as they always used to do away from home up north. A soft goal conceded from a Jason Matthews mistake and the travelling contingent of fans were left to slowly cook on the open terracing, whilst looking for a way to encourage their team. It was the introduction of new signing Sam Jordan that made all the difference. Within 5 minutes of coming on the pitch he had been declared “The new David Laws” before cartwheeling away after scoring a leveller. When Jake Wannell bundled us ahead with only minutes remaining there was still time for Jordan to power through the home defence and smash home a third. The away fans went home happy and the forum was full of praise for the new man. For some reason he never again reached those heights for us and was soon back at Bradford Town. However that day will remain with us forever.
#Terrascomment - tell us your thoughts Watching Yeovil Town playing Manchester United was a bitter sweet experience for this correspondent. “How do Weymouth fans feel about the recent meeting between the haves and have nots in the FA Cup? I know a few wont care and a few will have been passionate for Manchester United to give them a real hiding but with their status against ours and the recent player moves between the two clubs, are relations really as they were? I was watching the game on TV not sure how I wanted it to play out, especially when the much maligned (from his Weymouth days) Sturridge was playing up front for them. In the end I am pleased they lost and hope that it could be us making it on Match of the Day next season.” Let us know your thoughts using the hashtag #terrascomment. Harry Baker was our Terras signing of the year in the last newsletter and he seems to be in everyone's thoughts after his recent injury against Royston. “I thought the Royston Manager was spot on about his team and their discipline in the league match the other week. They seemed to lose interest in trying to get back in the game and started to kick out. The challenge on Baker seemed to shock everyone, but it was refreshing to see a Manager say outright that his team lost their discipline.
