SCHOLARSHIP DINNER MAY 11,2026

Students, scholarship fundholders, Foundation Board of Directors, and staff will gather to celebrate and recognize this year ’ s scholarship recipients.

Welcome to Branching Out Quarterly, our newly rebranded Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation newsletter. It's an exciting time for our Foundation and our area, with new ideas and fresh possibilities setting the tone for spring.

Like the tree in our logo, our Community Foundation has deep roots in the heart of this community and is branching out to connect caring people with causes that matter through thoughtful financial support, exceptional customer service, and purposeful connections.

In this issue, we'll highlight our recent grant cycle, share what's been happening at the Foundation since our last update, and offer ways you can get involved. It's a reflection of our team in action, as we ‘branch out’ to serve our community better

If you'd like to learn more about our work, meet the Foundation Team, or explore new philanthropic opportunities, give us a call or stop by our office we'd love to hear from you!

Let’s get to work!

FUNDHOLDER FORUM RECAP

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent Fundholder Forum! It was a valuable opportunity to connect, share insights, and strengthen our collective understanding of how we steward charitable funds for long-term impact

With guidance from our partners at Morgan Stanley and Graystone Consulting, attendees explored current market trends, reviewed our investment approach, and engaged in a thoughtful Q&A discussion. Whether you attended or are catching up, we encourage you to review the information available on our website under ‘Investment Strategies’ and stay informed.

As a reminder, fundholders are asked to submit their Investment Allocation Forms to confirm their selections.

We are grateful for your continued trust and partnership as we work together to support positive change in our community!

Please contact Becky Schroeder at bschroeder@wfacf.org or 940-766-0829 if you have any questions or need further details about the investment options.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT

Sixteen years later, the impact continues!

In 2010, Tryce Berend received the “Bingo” Kinder Scholarship Today, as he reviews scholarship applications for organizations he serves, he’s reminded of the support that helped shape his own journey.

Tryce shared, “The Foundation played a role in helping me get to where I am today... Your impact lasts far beyond graduation night.”

What started as an investment in his future has come full circle and is now influencing how he gives back to others.

That’s the power of generosity!

FOUNDATION INSIGHTS: DONOR ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

It has been a busy and generous first quarter for 2026! The last four months have been incredible as I settled into my role as the Grants Coordinator I am so grateful for those of you that I have been able to work with so far, and I look forward to getting to know the rest of you!

Several grant requests have been received in memory, or in honor of, a loved one. Oftentimes, the nonprofit receiving the gift will send acknowledgement letters or cards notifying someone of your memorial or honorarium. To ensure they are sending the notification to the correct individual(s), please include this in your grant request I will include this information in the grant letter sent from the Foundation to the nonprofit For example, “Please notify John Smith at 1234 Prairie Ln, Wichita Falls, TX 76310 ”

Additionally, we will send a card letting them know that a gift was made from your fund at the Foundation to your selected nonprofit A brief message can be included as well This message should be 10 words or fewer. For example, "In honor of Sarah Ward's retirement Congratulations, dear friend!"

If you ever have questions about what to include (or not include) in a grant request, please reach out to me by phone or email I would love to help you out!

Thank you!
