FROM THE DESK OF

Jurisdictional Supervisor

Mother Ruby D. Williams

That Was Then. This is Now.
I have been a part of the Church of God in Christ for many years. Bishop W. R. Nesbitt was our jurisdictional bishop. Mother Lila Henderson was our Supervisor of Women. I can recall her visits to our little wooden church in Sanford (Our church was used for public school education when I was in elementary school.) I recall Mother Henderson's stories of how she worked with the women throughout the state. She entertained us with her humor and wit. Mother Katie Smith, her successor, often visited my mother, who was the church mother during her tenure. I admired Mother Smith, Mother W.M. Pope, and Mother Viola Knowles. To me, they were the epitome of saintly womanhood, a level I thought I could never reach. That was then, this is now.
Here we are in a new jurisdiction with a bishop, Bishop Larry E. Perkins, that reminds us of the leaders of old, loving leaders who teach and love the saints as the Bible taught us to do. Our newness has created a kind of excitement and expectation that typifies youth. We look forward to the work and lifestyle of saintly living.
We look forward to developing the women's work as outlined by our general supervisor.

Mother Lewis has instituted prayers and work for every level of womanhood. Young or old, we have work to do in God's vineyard. Western Florida Second has a staff that is outstanding in every aspect. The entire staff is well trained, highly educated, and spirit filled. In fact, they are the modern-day epitome of the saints recorded in the book of Acts and the epistles of the New Testament. We have been taught the values of working together in the spirit of peace and harmony, in honor preferring one another. I look forward to our continued growth in the Lord.
