Signals is a solo exhibition of ceramic sculpture by Malcolm Mobutu Smith that reimagines the vessel as a site of identity, critique, and experimentation. Blending wheel-thrown and hand-built forms, Smith creates dynamic, abstract works that draw on influences from graffiti to African sculpture, using gesture, surface, and form to transmit meaning. Beneath their vibrant exteriors, many pieces embed recontextualized historical imagery, confronting enduring histories of racism while inviting reflection on the complexities of the human condition.
