Its neo-Gothic façade dates back to 1894. The church’s chancel houses the tomb of Jean Bart. 10 Jean Bart statue Place Jean Bart. NIEUWPOORT 15 Le Vent souffle où il veut A work by Daniel Buren, Kromme Hoek (Jachtclub KYCN), Daniel Buren wanted to create a work that would create the illusion of a forest as part of his contribution to Beaufort03. Instead of planting trees, Buren created a concept featuring one hundred tent poles, representing roosters of various colours. Each rooster begins and ends with a bright colour alternating with white. From the promenade, visitors can admire this imposing work at the Koninklijke Yacht Haven. Visitors can also take a stroll around the various poles and enjoy the festival of colours flapping in the wind. 16 Jan Fabre’s sea turtle «Searching for Utopia» This statue was placed in Nieuwpoort on the occasion of the first edition of the «2003 Beaufort» triennial celebrations dedicated to modern art on the coast.
