BODY20 IS USING TECHNOLOGY TO IMPROVE PERSONAL TRAINING

YOU’VE PROBABLY HEARD THE EXPRESsion “work smarter, not harder.” That doesn’t just apply to business. It’s also the premise behind BODY20, a revolutionary new fitness studio set to open in Weston Commons. Harnessing cutting-edge technology incorporated into innovative fitness wearables that stimulate the deepest layers of muscle, BODY20 clients burn calories, reduce cellulite, and tone and build muscles in just 20 minutes.

Owner Alex Reid explains the science behind BODY20 and why it’s the easiest and most efficient workout you’ll ever do.

What is BODY20?

BODY20 is unlike any workout program you have done before. Your personal coach will put you through a customized one-on-one workout program that will deliver results in just minutes per week. Each session is equivalent to an intense two to four-hour full-body workout.

How is BODY20 able to achieve those remarkable results?

By wearing our proprietary XBody suit, which features FDA-cleared electro-muscle stimulation (EMS) technology, you experience up to 150 times more muscle contractions than a conventional workout. The EMS suit allows you to sculpt your body in an efficient and optimized way, without the need to use traditional gym equipment.

That sounds too good to be true. Does it really work as well as you say?

Absolutely! I’m living proof. My partners and I are clients of BODY20. While initially skeptical, we quickly witnessed the results firsthand. One of my partners was suffering shoulder and bicep atrophy

as the result of a serious neck surgery. Unable to physically continue his normal workout regimen, he gave BODY20 a try and now credits it for “saving” him by reversing the muscle atrophy and correcting the various muscle imbalances he experienced due to his surgery. Couple his turnaround with our results and we knew we had something truly amazing to bring to market.

What type of results can clients expect to see?

Each member has a unique set of wants, needs and desires. As such, your BODY20 coach will design a program to deliver on those goals. Along the way, we utilize an InBody device to precisely track fat loss, muscle gain, body fat percentage and a host of other metrics to produce a full body diagnosis including muscular imbalances and standing metabolic rates – that’s how many calories you would burn in a day if you did zero exercise.

What makes BODY20 different than other workout programs?

Pretty much everything. The days of spending hours

in the gym, struggling to break a sweat and failing to achieve your goals are in the rearview mirror. BODY20 takes just 20 minutes, a maximum of twice per week. Each session is one-on-one training with your personal coach, who has been fully certified by XBody on the equipment and BODY20 for application. With the InBody assessment and tailored sessions to meet those goals, the quantifiable results will speak for themselves. You can track your progress on our app and, inevitably, you will want to share your success with friends and family.

What are some of the benefits of a BODY20 workout?

The biggest benefit is probably that BODY20 delivers maximum results in minimal time. Each 20-minute session equals hours in the conventional gym. While getting you into the best shape of your life, BODY20 builds muscle, improves strength, increases endurance, optimizes posture, enhances your sports performance, reduces cellulite and eliminates lower back pain (one of my other partners swears by this benefit).

Are you offering any grand opening specials?

Join before we officially open and become one of our Founding Members. You’ll lock in a special rate for the life of your membership, plus you’ll get two free weeks of personal training sessions on us… and there just may be some other surprise perks and swag coming for our Founders.

BODY20 is located at 4587 Weston Road in the Weston Commons shopping center. Fitness studio hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. For more information call 954-3612618 or visit www.body20.com/Weston

As a boutique design studio, Beautiful Windows can tailor solutions to each project.

SUPPORTING SUSTAINABILITY

Less carbon footprint is the buzz. Khadeine, a young interior designer at Beautiful Windows who holds a masters in sustainability management says that sustainability is big with Millenials and adult Gen Z. They are eco-conscious and love the fabrics, shades, rugs and wall coverings offered in the line she has curated called “ECO2”. She is at the forefront of guiding architects and developers on incorporating sustainable practices into their projects.

ASK YOURSELF “HAS YOUR HOME CAUGHT UP TO YOUR LIFESTYLE?”

Here are some challenges clients face:

EMBRACING OUTDOOR LIVING

Beautiful Windows’ design services are not limited to inside the home, they also create outdoor livingspaces, a trend that began during the pandemic.

“We saw a resurgence of people investing in their homes – transforming them into sanctuaries that prioritize health and wellness,” explains Faryal. “At Beautiful Windows, we help clients

» You are not sleeping comfortably because the room is too bright and warm. You want a luxurious sanctuary with hotel-style living at home.

» You have small kids and you’re worried about child safety in the blinds you buy.

» You are done with cords and chains and you want updated, motorized window

coverings in beautiful new textures and on-trend colors.

» You want to update the décor in your home while creating a zen-like flow throughout the space.

» You travel a lot more now, and you need privacy for safety protection. You want to operate blinds when you are away or at least set them on a timer.

» You want a home theater. We live and play at home so you need total, motorized blackout for media rooms.

» Your patio is outdated and you want to create an oasis with drapery and outdoor blinds. The designers at Beautiful Windows can solve these and many more challenging décor dilemmas for you.

DESIGN TRENDS

The designers are Beautiful Windows are seeing new trends for 2023. Faryal says there will be less stark white and a move towards warm tones. It’s all about comfort. Look out for:

» Warm tones in neutral palettes.

» Layering of materials, combining textures to create a multi-sensory environment.

» Organic materials such as limestone wall

plasters, deep-grained woods, exposed brick, linens, and natural wool.

» Eco friendly products as we move towards healthier living.

» Motorized blinds and drapery controlled by your smart device. Hunter Douglas most advanced introduction of Gen 3 Motorization makes all of that possible.

INDUSTRY LEADER

“We have grown from a small team of passionate professionals into an industry leader that works hard to provide a boutique design experience to every client, regardless of size or scope,” states Faryal. “We have always been dedicated to providing superior customer service and satisfaction as well as offering top-of-the-line products. We have paved the way by really taking care of our customers who have done their homes, then their children’s homes and have referred us to their friends and family.”

Beautiful Windows is located just minutes from Weston at 10220 W. State Road 84, Suite 16, in Davie. The showroom is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday - Friday and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information go to beautifulwindowsblinds.com or call 954-499-1000.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Faryal and her team for multiple projects. They’re very proficient and on top of their game. Faryal is detailed and truly gifted. I love putting our ideas together and seeing the end result. Would without a doubt recommend to anyone looking to spruce up their space!”

“I have used Faryal with Beautiful Windows for multiple houses over the past 10 years. With her keen eye and great design taste I have always followed her recommendations. Every room she helped with could be featured in Architectural Digest. She is warm, professional and reasonably priced. I would never use anyone else and neither should you.”

“I have had Beautiful Windows install blinds, shades and shutters at my home on different occasions through out a number of years. Each time has been top notch product and workmanship. The staff members go out of there way to research products and out of the box projects. I think they are great!”

COME JOIN THE PAW-TY BSO THERAPY K9 OLIVIA

THE BROWARD SHERIFF’S OFFICE WESTON

District is hosting a special event for families and friends with special needs. Paw-ty with Olivia will be held on Saturday, April 1st from 10 am to 1 pm at the City of Weston Police Services Center.

Olivia is the BSO Weston Therapy K9. As a therapy dog, Olivia is trained to provide love, comfort, emotional support, and affection to people in need. This includes people suffering from a mental health crisis, individuals who have been involved in a traumatic event, school children coping with tragedies, and much more.

Olivia works with Deputy Danielle Quinones. The dynamic duo completed the Paws & Stripes College at Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in 2021. They successfully completed the K9s United requirements and standards for a Multi-Discipline Therapy K9 Team and the Law Enforcement Investigative Therapy Dog Course.

Although Olivia is a trained law enforcement officer, she spends most of her days visiting schools and independent and assisted living facilities, as well as attending community events, such as the recent Weston Winter Safety Expo.

It’s her popularity at programs such as that,

along with the tremendous work she does with special needs and at-risk students, that helped prompt Paw-ty with Olivia.

“For the past year, our very own BSO Weston therapy K9, Olivia, has been working with special needs and disabled students of all ages in our local Weston schools,” said Deputy Quinones. “We thought it would be special to celebrate with our community and introduce her to those that have not met her or do not get to see her on a regular basis.”

Paw-ty with Olivia is intended for families and friends with disabilities and special needs. The free event will feature meet and greets with Olivia along with sensory activities, arts and crafts, a chance to paint a police car, and a ninja warrior course for those with all abilities. There will also be informational booths by agencies and businesses serving the autism and special needs community.

“Deputy Quinones and Olivia have established positive and interactive relationships with our community members,” explains Captain Sam Cavalieri, who serves as Weston Police Chief. “Our therapy K9 program has helped with those afraid to approach or interact with police officers. We want to continue to build stronger lines of communication with those

with disabilities and special needs.”

In addition to interacting with children during her school visits, Deputy Quinones says Olivia also enjoys spending time with older residents.

“One of her favorite activities to participate in is Seniors and Snuggles,” shares Deputy Quinones. “She spends her time with the memory care patients, helping them relax, reduce anxiety, lower the feeling of loneliness, and even help recall memories.”

According to Deputy Quinones, as a Therapy K9 Olivia is used to enhance interactions with both adults and children; to help create rapport; relieve anxiety; improve communication; and reduce stress while supporting individuals with social interaction skills, especially those with special needs.

“K9 Olivia has such an instantaneous effect on everyone she comes into contact with,” said Deputy Quinones. “She always has a smile on her face when she is around people!”

Families and friends with disabilities and special needs wanting to attend the Paw-ty with Olivia are asked to pre-register at https://www.signupgenius.com/ go/10c0f4ba8a723a3fec43-pawty.

WESTON WORLD FEST CONNECTS COMMUNITY

TAKE A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE AT THE 8th annual Weston World Fest on Sunday, March 5th at Weston Regional Park. “Animals of the Planet” is this year’s theme and each of the 20 country booths will feature displays of its furred, feathered or finned native species. Presented by the City of Weston and the Arts Council of Greater Weston, Weston World Fest is a celebration of the multicultural community in which we live. The event was created by Carol Lema, whose family spent two decades living abroad before settling in Weston. She wanted to share that global experience with others by

bringing international sights, sounds and cuisine to the community.

“I started with a lot of passion and blind faith that an event like this would be successful here and was delighted to find a very diverse set of volunteers who were excited about showcasing their countries of origin or ancestry,” said Lema, founder and director of Weston World Fest. “I love seeing people of all ages enjoy learning about the different countries, experience the onstage performances, try the foods, and in some cases, even speak the languages of the countries represented. Weston has a wonderful mix of people

from all over. What better way to recognize that than by celebrating together.”

This year’s program features booths from across the globe, with South Africa making its first appearance and the United States returning after several years. The exhibits are both interactive and informative, with displays depicting the country’s unique culture, geography, and more. Activities range from games and arts and crafts to physical challenges, such as last year’s popular “fire walking” in Singapore.

The educational component extends to the Passport program. Students can travel the world,

20 WESTON COMMUNITY NEWS 03.2023 COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

getting their passports stamped at each country booth they visit. Completed passports can be redeemed for additional activities such as henna art or temporary tattoos.

The event stage will feature a full line-up of musicians, dancers and entertainers, including the return of Ronin Taiko, the acclaimed Japanese drum troupe, as well as new acts such as folk dancers performing the Paraguayan Bottle Dance.

The expanded restaurant section will allow guests to sample global fare with authentic cuisine from Lebanon, Italy, Singapore, Greece, Turkey

and more, or sip a delicious coffee concoction or tasty bubble tea.

Weston Mayor Margaret Brown encourages everyone to attend this unique, family-friendly event. “Weston World Fest incorporates the Arts Council’s love and support of music and art, adds in cultures from around the globe, and lets it explode into one glorious, vibrant, immersive experience for every age.”

Weston World Fest attendees are encouraged to stop by the Arts Council of Greater Weston booth to learn about the other incredible programs it produces for our community and also to take part in a national survey to assess the impact of arts and culture in the community.

“We urge everyone to take a few minutes and participate in this survey,” requests Annalisa Walker, special events manager for the City of Weston. “We want to ensure events like this return

year after year and show the need for additional outreach to our diverse, thriving community.”

Weston World Fest takes place from 12-4 pm near the event stage at Weston Regional Park. Entrance to the festival is free of charge; food and beverages are available for purchase. For more information go to 1weston.com/weston-world-fest

Around Town

SAFETY FIRST

The Winter Safety Expo, sponsored by the City of Weston and BSO, provided an evening of education and fun with law enforcement and safety agencies from around South Florida showcasing the vehicles and emergency equipment they use to serve and protect our community. The chilly temperatures made the “snow” flurries even more realistic.

ART APPRECIATION

ROCK ON

The WestonNights Outdoor Concert Series draws to a close this month. It kicked off in November with Jay Valor playing a selection of original songs along with many perennial favorites. Last month, the Deep Fried Funk Band had everyone moving and grooving. The Big Rock Band closes out the family-friendly concert series, which takes place at the event stage in Weston Regional Park, on Saturday, March 11 at 7 pm. Take a trip down memory lane with hits by groups such as The Beatles, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Prince, The Bee Gees and more.
