STUDENT UNIFORM HANDBOOK
RATIONALE
The West Moreton Anglican College uniform is a visible symbol of our students and promotes safety, community, and the College values. Students are expected to wear the uniform with pride, reflecting positively on the College and ensuring visibility both on and off campus.
Dress and Uniform Expectations
All students, (except Prep, Year 1 and 2) must travel to and from school in full school uniform. The full formal school uniform is worn at all public functions and special events, unless otherwise specified by the Principal, Deputy Principal or respective Head of School. All items of school uniform should be maintained in good condition. Only WestMAC uniform items may be worn and these must be maintained to an acceptable standard as deemed appropriate by the Head of School.
Blazers
Blazers are compulsory for students in the Middle and Senior School and must be worn to and from school in Terms 2 and 3, and at public engagements. Only Junior School students may wear a track jacket with their formal uniform.
Boys’ pants
Belts (school regulation) should be worn over their hips.
Hats
Hats are part of the school uniform and must be worn to and from school and during the school day. During the day, students at school are to wear a hat whenever they are not in a classroom, under a shade structure, or on occasions, as directed. The College hat is the navy Aussie Mate Hat. Students holding a leadership position must have a wool felt hat. Anyone in Years 7 to 12 can wear the wool felt hat.
Shoes and Socks
Black leather lace-up dress shoes are part of the full formal school uniform and are to be worn by all students. Prep students ONLY may wear shoes with velcro or buckles. Runners, deck shoes, boots and soft soled shoes are not permitted except in special cases where medical reasons prevail. Shoes are to be kept neatly polished and in good condition.
Boys’ socks must be pulled up (creased free) and sit just below the knee (no more than 5cm) at all times.
Girls’ socks must be folded over at all times.
Skirts
Girls’ skirts must be of an acceptable length i.e. to the knee or below. This will be monitored by Heads of School.
Ties
Boys in the Middle and Senior School are required to wear ties in Terms 2 and 3 and for formal occasions. (Boys ties should always be worn pushed up.) Girls are required to wear a tie and a College badge at all times.
Hair Accessories for Girls
Hair can be tied back in College approved scrunchies/ribbons (rust or navy) or elastics (hair colour or navy).
