Pennsylvania — accounts for 15% of regional employment. In Westmoreland County, there are five machinist jobs available for every one applicant. Most don’t require a college degree, just work-related, on-the-job training. The average Machinist I salary in Pennsylvania is $47,050, with a range typically between $41,837 and $53,607. (Salary.com, 2023)

That’s why New Century Careers launched a Westmoreland County site for its MANUFACTURING 2000 (M2K) program, a tuition-free PA State Registered PreApprenticeship program, offering entry-level machinist training to qualified applicants.

Enrollment is now open for evening classes held at Eastern Westmoreland Career and Technology Center (EWCTC) in Latrobe. M2K classes enroll year round.

WE NEED APPLICANTS!

Do you know a single head of household – male or female — looking for a path to a sustainable family-wage position with flexible hours? Or someone just out of high school or who tried college but decided on a different career path?

Others may have lost a job due to the pandemic and now are unemployed or underemployed. Those now working also can complete classes while continuing in their current job. Whatever the circumstance, M2K may be for them!

M2K trainees learn the basics of operating pedestal grinders, saws, drill presses, surface grinders, lathes, vertical milling and CNC machines through hands-on experience.

Trainees can be job-ready in as little as six months! Job placement assistance is offered. NCC has 31 manufacturing partners right in Westmoreland County, all seeking candidates for immediate openings.

NO COST TO QUALIFIED APPLICANTS! Training is tuition-free, made possible through a variety of government or charitable funding sources, along with contributions from manufacturers.

Basic requirements for applicant:

• Be 18+ years of age

• Have earned a High School Diploma or GED

• Submit a completed application packet -- copy of High School Diploma/GED, two reference letters, a brief questionnaire, and an application form (available online)

• Successful performance on an industry-developed aptitude test (tutoring available)

Tuition Funding, Academic & Career Support Just for PA Residents

COMPLETE YOUR DEGREE AT SETON HILL

Through a new degree and certificate completion program beginning June 1, 2023, Seton Hill can offer specialized assistance to 18 to 20 new students enrolling in Seton Hill’s Online Bachelor’s and Certificates Degree Program. This grantfunded program will cover the costs of tuition, books and fees for each student for up to one year. In addition, students enrolled through this program will receive dedicated academic and career support.

Eligibility

To be eligible, new students must:

• Be dislocated, incumbent, or unemployed Pennsylvania workers.

• Have left a higher education institution within the last two years.

• Have completed 78+ college credits in order to complete a degree in 1 year OR, if having fewer than 78 credits, enroll in a certificate program that can be completed in one year.

• Not be enrolled in classes during the spring 2023 semester.
