The Westminster Senior Center is a focal point for seniors, offering an array of activities and services. If you desire additional information, please call the Senior Center at (714) 895-2878, Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Center is currently closed on Fridays.

MEALS

Grab & Go Lunch Program

Meals on Wheels OC is providing frozen meals at the Westminster Senior Center off of Jackson Street behind the Community Services Building. The program takes place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with everyone driving up and staying in their cars. Seniors must register over the phone before being set up on set date to receive the food. For more information, please call the Senior Center at (714) 895-2878.

SPECIAL LUNCHEONS

MOTHER’S DAY LUNCHEON

Monday, May 9th from 12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m.

All are invited to honor the wonderful mothers that have been in our lives. This is a time to celebrate each and every woman that has helped shape a young person and the love they have given to others. Please come out and share a meal with our community and share memories. Lunch will be served outside and seating is limited. Must RSVP by Wednesday, May 4th.

FATHER’S DAY BREAKFAST

Monday, June 20th 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

All are invited to honor the fantastic fathers. Please come celebrate the men that have made a difference in our lives. Please come out and share a meal with our community and share memories. Breakfast will be served outside and seating is limited. Must RSVP by Wednesday, June 15th.

4TH OF JULY LUNCHEON

Thursday, July 7th 12 noon - 1:00 p.m.

All are invited to celebrate our country’s birthday with a traditional hot dog, potato salad, beans and ice cream luncheon. Dress in your favorite red, white and blue outfits. Lunch will be served outside and seating is limited. Must RSVP by Tuesday, July 5th.

EARTH DAY CELEBRATION

Thursday, April 21st from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

The theme this year is Invest in Our Planet. This year marks the 52nd Anniversary of Earth Day. Come celebrate the magic of our beautiful planet and what we can do to make it a better place for all of us and future generations. We will have information on ways to reuse, reduce and recycle. Orange County Fire Authority will be providing information about ways to stay safe in your own home. Refreshments will be served and participants will receive a succulent plant. The event will take place in front of the Senior Center off All American Way.

YARN SPINNERS

The Yarn Spinners is a group that get together to crochet and/or knit for charities and also to work on their own personal projects.

PINOCHLE

Mondays and Thursdays • 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

A card game played with a 48-card pack with the object to score points by melding certain combinations of cards or by winning tricks that contain scoring cards.

MOVIES

Tuesdays • 9:00 a.m.

Movies are shown every Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. Please call front desk at (714) 895-2878 to find out the movie showing that week and monthly movie schedules can be picked up at the front desk.

POOL ROOM

Monday - Thursday • 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Come play the game of pool and enjoy the company of others and make new friends. There are three pool tables available.

CHESS CLUB

Tuesdays & Thursdays • 12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The game is played on a board containing 64 squares played between two opponents on opposite sides of the board. Come and enjoy the company of others.

CRAFTERS

Tuesdays • 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

This group welcomes new members! Come be creative by making handmade decorative items. If you have ideas on a project, bring supplies and share with the group. Enjoy the time with others. No class the last Tuesday of the month.

GAME GROUP

Tuesdays • 12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Come enjoy the many board games and card games this group has to offer. If you have a game you would like to bring and share, please feel free to do so. This is also a time to meet new friends.

MExICAN TRAIN DOMINOS

Wednesdays • 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

A game played with dominos with the object being to play all your tiles first. Join us for the fun and meet new friends.

PING PONG (NEW)

AARP SMART DRIVER COURSE

$20 Member; $25 Non-Member wednesday - Thursday June 8th - 9th • 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

The AARP Smart Driver course is the nation’s first refresher course specifically designed for drivers age 50 and older. Drivers may benefit from a discount on their auto insurance premium on completion of the course. Must attend the two days.

LONGEVITY STICK CLASS

Mondays and Thursdays 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Sunken Gardens (No Cost) Instructor: Joyce Uyehara

This is a Vietnamese exercise of a series of movements done with a stick. The exercises are to help maintain a healthy body and mind by improving your balance, flexibility, strength, mental focus and breathing. A one-inch thick dowel that is equal to your height with rubber tips on each end is required for the class. Please call the Senior Center at (714) 895-2878 to get more information.

DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP

First wednesday of each month 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (No Cost) Instructor: Jane Herin, MSHS, BSN, RN, PHN

April 6th – Meal Planning for those with Diabetes May 4th – Traveling with Diabetes June 1st – Neuropathy and Diabetes July 6th – Diabetes Questions and Answers This is a group to help someone that has been diagnosed with diabetes or has a family member or a loved one with the diagnosis.
