Here at Westminster HS we offer two distinct programs that provide opportunities for students to acquire the skills needed to succeed in college or the work force.

If your future plan involves university readiness and you want to experience the depth and breadth of college work as well as tools and techniques for effective studying, methods for using your professional work in the world to help others and how your education can prepare you to contribute to a better local and global community, enroll in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. This program not only builds academic proficiency but also global awareness, a sense of citizenship, critical thinking, analytical skills and independent learning that opens college and university doors.

If your future plan has identified a specific career path & includes employment, apprenticeship or further/higher education, then enroll in the International Baccalaureate Career-Related Program (CP). This program, new to Westminster Public Schools, combines internationally recognized coursework with practical, workbased skill development. The core career development instruction gives exposure to workplace skills, provides an opportunity to address an authentic community need, asks you to complete a reflective project that requires the skills to identify, analyze, critically discuss and evaluate an ethical issue. VISUAL ARTS DEPARTMENT The Westminster High School Visual Arts Department provides students with learning opportunities in visual arts (2D, 3D, digital, and sculpture).

We strive to educate and inspire students to grow in the areas of leadership, teamwork and creative expression while contributing to a positive school, family, and community culture. Students learn the necessary skills to pursue the creative arts either in college or in the professional community while developing interpersonal tools that will aid them in whatever life path they choose.

PERFORMING ARTS DEPARTMENT The Westminster High School Performing Arts Department provides students with learning and performance opportunities in instrumental music (band, guitar, mariachi, piano, and orchestra), choral music, theatre, technical theatre, event staging, and video cinema arts.

We strive to educate and inspire students to grow in the areas of leadership, teamwork and creative expression while contributing to a positive school, family, and community culture.

Students learn the necessary skills to pursue performing arts either in college or in the professional performance community and develop interpersonal tools that will aid them in whatever life path they choose.

Animal Science

Do you love working with animals? Have you considered a job in Animal Science? Animal Science may be a program of interest to you. Our Animal Science students learn all about animal breeds, care, nutrition, and medical needs as well as natural resources including wildlife and fish. Students love getting hands on experience and learning more about animals of all kinds from their household pet to the livestock that feeds the world. Animal science is great for any student who likes animals and thinks they might want to make a career out of that love.

PLTW Biomedical Science Whether discovering new cancer treatments or teaching healthy lifestyle choices to their communities, today’s biomedical science professionals are tackling big challenges to make the world a better place.

PLTW Biomedical Science students are taking on these same real-world challenges – and they’re doing it before they even graduate from high school!

Working with the same tools used by professionals in hospitals and labs, students engage in compelling, hands-on activities and work together to find solutions to problems. Students take from the courses indemand knowledge and skills they will use in high school and the rest of their lives, on any career path they take.

Pathway Courses: PLTW Principles of Biomedical Science; PLTW Human Body Systems; PLTW Medical Interventions; PLTW Biomedical Innovations Advanced Credit: Each year students can earn 3 college credits through UCCS (up to 12 college credits). Computer Science Pathway Imagine a world today without computers. It seems impossible, right? That is why computer science matters! Our lives today are built around computers. They are the driver behind nearly every technological advancement of the last few decades from smartphones to solar panels, computers are everywhere. Get a head start in your Computer Science career! In our CS pathway you will learn the necessary skills to work with hardware, software, networking and security. You will also learn the skills to earn a variety of respected industry credentials while in school.

The Construction program provides a strong foundation for the skills required by the construction industry.
