Dear Friends,

Westminster Public Schools Foundation (Foundation) is 30 years young and going strong. We thank the hundreds of people who enable us to fulfill an ambitious vision that every Westminster Public School student succeeds. Our Foundation believes in the POWER of PUBLIC EDUCATION. We know it not only empowers students' lives but also strengthens our entire community. We are grateful to all of those who stand beside us supporting our work and mission. We are proud to share with you some of the accomplishments from the past year.

As the demands of the world have changed so has our scholarship program. In 1988 we awarded our first round of scholarships totaling $8,000. Last year we are proud to report that we awarded over $200,000 in scholarship funding to 231 students.

By 2020, nearly three in four jobs in Colorado will require some education beyond high school which includes a certificate, two-year or four-year degrees. As a result, the Foundation created our Post-Secondary Success Initiative to assist underserved Westminster Public School students. The Initiative helps students qualify for and pursue higher education and vocational opportunities using culturally responsive, wrap-around services.

These resources and services include: Scholarships and tuition funding Advising Summer Bridge Program College planning and transition services Peer mentoring Guidance on navigating college Scholarship and job application assistance As a community-driven organization, the Foundation partners closely with district leadership to identify educational priorities. This past year we invested in a new district initiative: The Math Academy. Recognizing that students needed additional supports in the subject of math, school sites began to provide free after-school tutoring to elementary and middle school students. We continue to support many other programs such as the Benevolent Fund for emergency student assistance and the Bob Landgraf Sr. Opportunity Fund that provides funds for student athletic and activity fees. You will find more details highlighted throughout the report.

As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we take enormous pride in the countless accomplishments of all the children whose lives we have touched – and for that, we thank you for your continued involvement and support. As we honor the past and celebrate the present, we also look ahead with excitement and optimism to our next 30 years.
