Beginning & Advanced Preschool Ages: 3–5 years Beginning Preschool introduces your child to the water.

Advanced preschoolers are already comfortable in the water.

Level 1 Ages: 12 and under Requires little to no water experience.

Level 2 Ages: 12 and under Build on basic motor skills and introduce combined motor skills.

Level 3 Ages: 12 and under Focus on water independence and introduce basic swim strokes.

Level 4 Ages: 12 and under Introduces students to intermediate swim strokes.

Level 5 Ages: 12 and under This class focuses on refining advanced strokes.

Level 6 Ages: 12 and under Focus on continuous swimming and refining competitive swimming skills. Upon completion, students must complete a 25-yard swim of each stroke (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly) and swim 125 yards of a stroke of their choosing without stopping.

Westminster Dance Company If you are interested in taking your dance to the next level, consider joining the Westminster Company Dance Team! Company members have access to company-only classes designed to push their abilities and improve their skills.

Company members dance in various events in Westminster and participate in a few competitions each year.

Rec & Read Library Kiosks West View Recreation Center and City Park Fitness Center now offer a self-service library kiosk filled with books and movies for all ages. Simply scan your library card to make a selection. Kiosk materials can be returned at both of the centers and library buildings.

Online and General Registration Tips

Minimum/Maximum Enrollment

• If you have done any business with our organization (registered for a class, bought a facility pass, reserved a birthday party, etc.), you already have a username and password. If you are unsure of those items, please contact any recreation center.

Early registration is recommended as many classes fill.

Classes must reach the minimum enrollment three days prior to the first day of the class or the class is canceled.

Participants are notified and transfers, refunds or credits are made.

• If you try to create an account online and the system indicates that your address, phone number, email, etc. already exists, this means that you already have an account/household in the system. Please contact any recreation center for assistance.

Refund/Credit Guidelines • If you are unable to attend a program/class, or the program does not meet your needs, the following refund/credit guidelines apply:

• If you create an account/household online, the system will default your status to non-resident and charge the non-resident fees.

• If you are unable to attend a class, please contact the city three days prior to the start date to guarantee a refund.

• Complete your registration form including activity code numbers.

• If the city is unable to run a class, your payment is credited to your household account. You are notified to discuss refund options.

• Sign the registration form and waiver.

• Make your check or money order payable to the City of Westminster or to the agency or company specified in the class description.

Please Note: Registration for some adult and youth sports programs do not follow the class registration schedule and procedures are listed in those sections.

• Credits/refunds can be held in your household account for future use. If you request a refund by check or credit card, a minimum $5 processing fee will be assessed. Refunds take 10 to 14 working days to process. Verification of your address is recommended to ensure proper delivery.

Refund Exclusions Due to the design of some programs, refunds are not always possible. These programs include, but are not limited to: trips, team sports, and programs that required advance ticket purchases.

Westminster is committed to giving all citizens equal access to recreation and leisure opportunities. Reasonable accommodations and inclusion opportunities are provided to individuals with disabilities in all city programs. ADA accommodations include sign language interpreters, program modifications, and inclusion support. Call 303-658-2192 at least 10 working days in advance of the date services are needed. A phone conference prior to the class/program may be held to better understand needs. Notification is appreciated if you are currently working with a school on an Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Participants in any public facility or program may be photographed or videotaped for use in city publications or promotional materials.

Buddy System An individual with a disability may bring a non-disabled buddy for assistance in programs and daily facility use.

The disabled person pays the regular price and the buddy is admitted for free (a supply fee may be assessed in some classes/trips). Contact the individual facilities to learn about specific equipment available for those with disabilities.

Household Definition A household includes two adults and dependent family members age 23 and younger in the same dwelling. City Park Fitness Center dependent family members must be 12-23 years old.

Westminster Resident Discount Cards Westminster residents qualify for discounts on recreation programs and services. Residents who wish to receive a discount at a Hyland Hills facility will need to purchase a Discount Card through Hyland Hills.

Changes and Cancellations Occasionally programs may change. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and make every effort to notify participants. Classes may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or loss of an instructor.

An attempt is made to reschedule programs cancelled due to inclement weather, with the exception of swim lessons. Refunds or transfers are not guaranteed if every cancellation is not rescheduled.

Children in Facilities REC CENTER USE: Children 7 years old and younger must be accompanied by a supervising chaperone, age 15 years or older, who is in the same area.

POOL USE: Supervising chaperones must be 15 years or older. Children five and younger must be accompanied by a chaperone within arm’s reach of the children at all times. Children 6-7 years must be accompanied by a chaperone who is in the pool area. Limit of two children, 5 years and younger, per chaperone in the pool area.

Child Care Drop-in child care is available at City Park Fitness Center and West View for center users and class participants.

Scholarship and Reduced Rate Pass Program The City of Westminster offers a reduced-rate program for facility passes and recreation programs to Westminster and Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District residents.

Need for financial assistance can be due to medical expenses, loss of job or other hardship. Families/ individuals can enroll by completing a Scholarship/ Reduced Rate application available at any of the city’s recreation facilities.

Each site and age group has unique options for activities other days of the week. All groups use their gym at least once a week. Countryside has an outdoor pool for swim activities.

With the exception of the Rhinos, all groups have daily registration options beginning April 15. Please contact Cindy or Seth if attempting weekly registration after this point or for allergy/swimming concerns.

If your child is currently on an IEP or needs special accommodations, please email a copy of the behavior plan to cmcdonal@cityofwestminster.us.

Special events and other options can be found, starting May 15, at www.CityofWestminster.us/SummerCamp.

Daily registration can be completed over the phone, in person at a rec center, or online. All fee information is detailed in the box at the bottom of the page.
