DANCE CLASS LEVELS:

Please refer to the guide below for information on which class level best suits your child. Each level is based on skill, age, and years of experience. If you are unsure which level to select please email youthteendance@cityofwestminster.us.

Preschool – For children ages 2-6 and strongly recommended prior to entering Level 1 and above. Children learn classroom etiquette, basic mobility skills, and explore the joy of movement.

Level 1 – For kids who are new to dance but have some previous dance background. Classes are designed to teach fundamentals. AGES: 5+*

* Ballet has stricter requirements, Ballet 1 is for ages 6+

Level 2 – For kids who have taken 2-3 years of classes and have at least baseline technique skills or have an instructor recommendation. Classes are designed to expand skills and fitness. AGES: 8+

Level 3 – Advanced classes for kids who are at or near Company level skills and experience. Designed to maximize dance fitness, skills, and potential. AGES: 8+, with at least 2-3 years of dance experience and a high level of technical competency or an instructor recommendation.

Ballet

Graceful and elegant, ballet is the backbone of most dance styles. This class is a great starting point to learn strength and stamina building for feet, legs, and arms.

The elegant grace of ballet mixed with the percussive musicality of tap. Build a sense of rhythm and creativity while learning techniques in both forms of dance.

Westminster Dance Company

If you love to dance and want to take it to the next level, consider joining the Westminster Company Dance Team! Members can have access to company only classes, dance in various events and participate in competitions year round.

AUDITIONS: August 12 at CPRC

Ages: 4-7, 1:30-2:30 p.m.

Ages: 8-10, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

Ages: 10+, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

All participants (even returning members) are required to have an instructor recommendation and audition.

For dancers who like a creative and technical challenge, this style of dance blends together elements of ballet, jazz, modern, and even hip hop.

Musical Theater/Broadway

Our Musical Theater/Broadway class is for imaginative students to explore creativity and performance ability through dance and acting. This fun and high-energy class studies a variety of dance styles that create character-building.

Pom Prep

For more details or to set up an audition time, please contact Dance Director, Mackenzie, at Mderrick@cityofwestminster.us. Fee includes 34 weeks of classes, one competition, a jacket, and a t-shirt.

Prepare for your school’s Pom’s team. Sideline and floor routines and audition tips will be learned. It focuses on mind, mobility, stability, strength, endurance and flexibility.

Middle School After School Programs

The City of Westminster partners with Wayne Carle, Moore, and Mandalay Middle Schools to provide after school enrichment and sports. These programs are only available to kids who attend these schools.
