Location Key: (SL) Standley Lake Regional Park CAMPING AND DELUXE BELL TENT RENTALS: Camping season is May 1–Sep 30. Our campgrounds accommodate campers, trailers, and tents only in designated campsites. Campsites (66) and Deluxe Bell Tents (6) are available on a reservation basis.

OUTDOOR RECREATION

WILDLIFE VIEWING: Standley Lake provides habitat to hundreds of animal species year-round! Coyotes, prairie dogs and numerous reptiles and amphibians can be seen on the trails. The park is also a hot spot for bird watchers as over 220 species have been reported in recent years. Visit the pollinator garden to discover bees and butterflies enjoying native plants. www.cityofwestminster.us/StandleyLakeRegionalPark

PADDLING: Standley Lake offers seasonal paddling permits and daily paddle passes. Annual paddle permits are sold at the Standley Lake Nature Center or online. Standley Lake is open for paddling May 1 through Sept. 30 from 7 a.m. to sunset daily.

FISHING: Fish year-round! An ADA accessible fishing pier is available May-September, and shoreline fishing is allowed October-April. More than 13 varieties of fish inhabit the lake which is stocked regularly throughout the summer by Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

STANDLEY LAKE SPECIAL USE PERMIT Host a special event such as a wedding, family reunion, company picnic, graduation party or other celebration. A variety of locations and amenities (bell tents, outdoor grill and canopy rentals) are available upon request. Permit fee varies. This class focuses on water independence and introduces basic swim strokes. Students will learn correct body position for strokes, intro to freestyle, backstroke, front and back glides, and rhythmic breathing. Completion of Level 3 requires students to do a 25-yard continuous swim without stopping or touching the bottom.

This class focuses on refining advanced strokes. Breast stroke and butterfly strokes are introduced. Class content also includes deep water diving skills, block starts, continuous swimming, and treading water with different kicks.

This class introduces students to intermediate swim strokes and requires participants to successfully complete a 25-yard continuous swim without stopping or touching the bottom of the pool. Class content will focus on introducing breaststroke kick and dolphin kick, as well as improving upon freestyle and backstroke technique.

Level 5 Ages: 6-12

Level 6 Ages: 6-12 Students in this class will focus on continuous swimming and refining competitive swimming skills. Class content will also include flip turns (front and back), block starts (front and back), and water safety rescues. Upon completion, students must complete a 25-yard swim of each stroke (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly) and swim 125 yards of a stroke of their choosing without stopping.

Refund Guidelines

• If the city is unable to run a class, you will be refunded.

Participants are notified and transfers, refunds or credits are made.

Early registration is recommended as many classes fill. Classes must reach the minimum enrollment three days prior to the first day of the class or the class is canceled.

• If you are unable to attend a class, please contact the city three days prior to the start date to guarantee a refund.

Scholarship and Reduced Rate Pass Program

Buddy System

POOL USE: Supervising chaperones must be 15 years or older. Children five and younger must be accompanied by a chaperone within arm’s reach of the children at all times. Children 6-7 years must be accompanied by a chaperone who is in the pool area. Limit of two children, 5 years and younger, per chaperone in the pool area.

Child Care Drop-in child care is available at City Park Fitness Center and West View Recreation Center for center users and class participants. Visit www.CityofWestminster.us for details.

Participants in any public facility or program may be photographed or videotaped for use in city publications or promotional materials.

REC CENTER USE: Children 7 years old and younger must be accompanied by a supervising chaperone, age 15 years or older, who is in the same area.

The City of Westminster offers a reduced-rate program for facility passes and recreation programs to Westminster and Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District residents. Need for financial assistance can be due to medical expenses, loss of job or other hardship. Families/ individuals can enroll by completing a Scholarship/ Reduced Rate application available at any of the city’s recreation facilities.

Westminster Resident Discount Cards

When a payment received by the City is subsequently returned by the bank, the City assesses a service fee and any other applicable collection charge to the payer. A person may resubmit a dishonored payment by cash, certified check, and when permissible, payment card. However, if a second payment is dishonored by the bank, an additional penalty of thirty dollars ($30) will be assessed in addition to any other charges incurred by the City for the returned payment. Access to All Westminster is committed to giving all citizens equal access to recreation and leisure opportunities. Reasonable accommodations and inclusion opportunities are provided to individuals with disabilities in all city programs. ADA accommodations include sign language interpreters, program modifications, and inclusion support. Call 303-658-2192 at least 10 working days in advance of the date services are needed. A phone conference prior to the class/program may be held to better understand needs. Notification is appreciated if you are currently working with a school on an Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Westminster residents qualify for discounts on recreation programs and services. Residents who wish to receive a discount at a Hyland Hills facility will need to purchase a Discount Card through Hyland Hills.

Occasionally programs may change. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and make every effort to notify participants. Classes may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or loss of an instructor. An attempt is made to reschedule programs cancelled due to inclement weather, with the exception of swim lessons. Refunds or transfers are not guaranteed.

An individual with a disability may bring a non-disabled buddy for assistance in programs and daily facility use. The disabled person pays the regular price and the buddy is admitted for free (a supply fee may be assessed in some classes/trips). Contact the individual facilities to learn about specific equipment available for those with disabilities.
