All children ages 5 11 are required to take a swim test Parents and guardians are required to be within arm's reach of all children less than five years of age or for any child unable to pass the swim test Parents or guardians of children less than nine years of age must remain within the Aquatics Center Please review the full list of rules posted on the wall near the tot spot

For safety purposes, all swimmers between the ages of 5 to 11 must take a swim test and wear a swim band Swimmers may be asked to take or retake a swim test at the lifeguard’s discretion If a swimmer needs to be rescued, the swimmer will need to retake the swim test before reentry into the pool As always, safety is our top priority and rules are the best form of accident prevention

Our swim test is designed to check the swimming abilities of children. Based on this test, children receive a colored band that signifies their swimming ability. Bands are required for swimmers ages 5 to 11 years old.

The West Lafayette Parks and Recreation Department strives to help everyone learn to swim and be safe around water Teaching water safety is important to us which is why we offer high quality swim lessons at affordable prices We can help anyone aged six months and older learn to swim with the choice of group or private lessons
