SUMMER RECREATION GUIDE
SUMMER Programs open for registration on May 13, 2026 at 6:00 pm and can either be completed online or by phone. All information is subject to change based on staffing and budget approvals.

• Click on “Program Registration” OR use a cell phone camera to scan this QR code.
• A credit card is required to pay the registration fee to complete online registration.
2. Phone registration: 902-509-1122
• When registration opens, simply leave ONE voicemail: This process timestamps your call and reserves your spot in the queue. A staff member will call you back in order of sequence. It may take up to 2 hours to receive a call back.
• After registering by phone, you can pay later through your online account with a credit card or pay at the Municipal Office (76 Morison Drive, Windsor) or the Hants Aquatics Centre (open June 3, 306 Stannus St, Windsor) with cash or debit. Payments are due 5 business days before the program begins. If payment is not received, you are removed from the program automatically.

Swimming at HAC

Pool Schedule
The pool will open to the public on Wednesday, July 1, 2026! The Live schedule will be available the first week of June at www.westhants.ca/poolschedule or scan the QR code above. Make sure to check the live calendar before each visit! Tip: If you double click on the swim title in the live schedule, it will open with more details. Print schedules will be available at the HAC.
Admission Policy
Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult (15 years and up):
• Children 9 –11 years old must be actively supervised by an adult on the pool deck – A GREEN bracelet will identify these children (1 adult for every 6 children aged 9 –11 years old)
• Children 8 years and under must always have an adult in the water within arms reach – A PINK bracelet will identify these children (1 adult in the water for every 3 children under 8 years old)
• If you believe that your 7-8 year old is a competent swimmer and you should be able to observe from the deck instead of in the water, you can request a swim test with a Supervisor.
Pool Fees
Drop-In fees:
• Individual Drop-in: $4.50 per swim
• Family/Group Drop-in: $15 per group – includes up to six people. Children 3 years and under are free!
10 Punch Passes:
• Individual Punch Pass: $45
• Family/Group Punch Pass: $150 – Pass includes up to six people
Season Passes:
• Individual Season Pass: $160
• Family/Group Season Pass: $300
Aquafit | Classes begin July 2, no registration required. Space is limited. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday | 12:15 pm – 1:00 pm Tuesday and Thursday | 5:45 pm – 6:30pm

Aquatic Leadership Courses
Interested in becoming a lifeguard or swimming instructor? We are grateful to the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia and Family and Community First for funding 10 FREE registrations in each of the following Aquatic Leadership Courses this summer.
Intermediate Workplace First Aid
13+ years | 100 King Street, Windsor | Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5 | 10:00 – 5:00 pm | Cost: Free for the first 10 WHRM residents, $160 thereafter. Designed for those who require a more in-depth understanding of first aid.
Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross Combination Course | 13+ years | Hants
Aquatic Centre | Cost: Free for the first 10 WHRM residents, $400 thereafter. Prerequisites: 13 years of age, valid Intermediate Workplace First Aid Certification, and access to technology to complete online learning session. This program requires 100% attendance.

Swimming Lessons
Inclusion Swimming Lessons
Inclusion lessons are for participants who may require extra support to participate in private or group swimming lessons. Inclusion spots are limited and are based on staff availability. There are no added fees for Inclusion support.
Inclusion Swim Lesson Registration:
• Wednesday, May 13 between 9:00 am –12:00 pm. Please call 902-509-1122 and leave a voicemail.
Private and Semi-Private Lessons
Private lessons for one participant | $105.00 for four-30 min lessons. Semi-private lessons for two participants (no more than one swim level apart) | $160.00 for four-30 min lessons (You must have two participants before registering). We offer private and semi-private lessons for children and adults. These lessons teach specific skills and build confidence. Participants are not guaranteed to pass a swimming level in one block of these private lessons. | Private/ Semi-Private Lessons: Beginning on Wednesday, June 3 at 9:00am, call (902) 798-8391 ext 228 and leave a voicemail to be placed on a list. A staff person will be in contact to schedule your lessons.
Group Swimming Lessons
Session 1: July 6 – July 16 | Session 2: July 20 – July 30 | Session 3: August 3 – August 13 | Session 4: August 17 – August 27 | 3 – 12 years | Hants Aquatic Centre | We offer group lessons Monday to Thursday in two-week sessions (8 classes). There are no lessons on Fridays, and classes will run on holidays. Summer Camps
Registration is required. There is a limit of 2 weeks of Summer Camp per child.
Program Expectations:
We offer recreation programs facilitated with youth leaders who receive on-going recreation training. Our programs are not licensed childcare nor part of the educational system. However, in all programs, we have safeguards in place to keep children safe – safety is our priority. We appreciate your kindness as you interact with youth staff who are in a learning environment.
Summer Camp Inclusion with support from Limitless NS:
If your child requires one-on-one assistance in school, we can support your child to have a summer camp experience with support from Limitless NS. We have limited spaces in each camp for one-on-one support.
Your child requires one-on-one assistance if they:
• are not fully independent in the washroom; and/or
• cannot stay with the group (needs a sensory quiet zone away from others/group, runs away while outside, etc.); and/or
• is aggressive towards themselves and/or others

Junior Leader Program
13 – 15 years | Location, dates, and times align with each Summer Camp | Cost: Free, limit of one week per Junior Leader | Are you interested in volunteering in Summer Camp to develop employability skills like interacting positively with children, voice projection, team communication, and more. Mini Camp
5-12 years | West Hants Sports Complex, 16 Centennial Drive, Windsor | July 2 - 3 | 8:30 am – 12:00 pm
Cost: $10 per WHRM resident | $40 per Non-WRHM resident | Join us for two half-days of camp! This is perfect for children who are new to camp and want to test it out or for those who struggle with full days. This mini camp is not included in the 2 week maximum per child so you can add this to your two weeks of regular camp.

Artful Antics Camp | July 6 – 10

8:15 am – 4:45 pm | Campers will explore music through instruments, sound, and creativity through playful activities and group experiences.
All Around the World Camp
July 20 – 24 | 8:15 am – 4:45 pm | Learn more about our world through this culture-themed camp where children explore different countries through games, crafts, and hands-on activities.
Builders and Engineers Camp
July 27 – 31 | 8:15 am – 4:45 pm | A hands-on STEM camp where children build, design, and solve problems through fun engineering challenges.
Dinosaur Camp | August 4 – 7 (no camp on Monday August 3) | 8:15 am – 4:45 pm | Learn and explore prehistoric times! Children will learn about fossils, prehistoric life, and the science of dinosaurs through interactive activities.
Planes, Trains, & Automobiles Camp
August 10 –14 | 8:15 am – 4:45 pm | A hands-on transportation-themed camp where children explore how vehicles move through fun science, engineering, and creative activities.
Camp Cozy | August 17 – 21 | 8:15 am – 4:45 pm
This camp will focus on learning mindfulness through activities, creativity, and cozy fun—perfect for children who love a gentler, more relaxing camp vibe.
Big Summer Blowout | August 24 – 26 (3 day-camp) | 8:15 am – 4:45 pm | An energetic, high-fun camp featuring lots of games, activities, and themed events designed to make the summer feel like one big celebration.

8:15 am – 4:45 pm | Avondale Boathouse, 15 Belmont Road, Newport | A creative, hands-on camp where kids explore animation, storytelling, and visual arts to bring their own imaginative worlds and characters to life.

Fantasy Forest Camp | August 17 – 21
8:15 am – 4:45 pm | Brooklyn District Elementary School, 8008 Hwy 14, Newport | An imaginative, nature-based program where kids dive into storytelling, forest quests, woodland crafts, and creative outdoor adventures.
