Health and Prosperity It has been objected by cer­ tain individuals that the sewi||age proposal which is now engag­ ing the attentnion of the admin­ istrative body and the commun­ ity is likely to distract attention from the paramount necessity of securing good roads. So far as we are concerned we can see no conflict between the two questions, and our advocacy of sewerage in no degree lessens our insistence on the importance of good roads to' the district. In youthful aspirations good health and prosperity are usually joined as twin ambitions, and from the community point of view, whilst good roads may he regarded as the avonuo leading to prosperity, sewerage is the best safeguard of the commimity’s health. In our news columns we publish the views of representa­ tive citizens, including those whose professional opinion must carry weight, stressing the value of sewerage, and we hesitate to think that these gentlemen are, because of their advocacy of sewerage, oblivious to the impor­ tance of good roads. At its meet­ ing next Monday night the Shire Council will he called on to make two important decisions: The re­ jection or acceptance of the Gov­ ernment's sewerage proposals, and the adoption of the year’s road programme.
