WHAT’S BENEATH THE SURFACE: YOUR WATER DOLLARS AT WORK
When you pay your water bill, you’re doing more than keeping water flowing. You’re investing in a reliable, safe, and sustainable water system for your community. Every dollar you pay goes directly into the systems that serve you. Beyond daily operations, your rates also fund long-term improvements, major infrastructure upgrades, and innovative projects that ensure you have the water you need when you need it – now and during periods of drought. Our grants team stretches each dollar further by securing state and federal funding.
PLANNING AHEAD We don’t just repair today’s problems. We plan for tomorrow’s challenges. Through our comprehensive Capital Improvement and Facilities Plan (CIFP), Western Water sets priorities for the next two years and forecasts needs over the next five years. Our engineering and operations teams design projects that meet today’s demands while ensuring our system is ready for the future.
INVESTING IN RELIABILITY One of the most important ways your rates are put to work is through the CIFP program. These long-term upgrades for pipes, pumps, reservoirs, and technology are designed to prevent costly failures and ensure reliable service for generations to come. CIFPs help us plan, fund, and build the infrastructure needed to keep our systems working safely and efficiently. They also address the reality that many parts of our system were built decades ago. While they’ve served us well, time takes a toll. By replacing and upgrading infrastructure before problems arise, we keep our water and sewer systems strong, resilient, and efficient—ready to withstand emergencies and continue serving our community when it matters most.
