LOCAL residents will have the chance to see inside the new South West Tech School during an Open Night on Thursday, September 17. The new school, at South West TAFE, will open its doors to the general public from 3pm-6pm, following an official opening earlier in the day. South West TAFE chief executive officer Mark Fidge said the Open Night was a perfect opportunity for anyone thinking about the next step in their lives. “Anyone who is thinking of a new career, who wants to upgrade their skills, or simply wants to explore what’s possible for the future can come and meet our teachers, check out our facilities and find out all about what’s on offer in 2027,” Mr Fidge said. In 2027 South West TAFE will offer more than 150 courses, covering trades, nursing, aged care, beauty, cookery, arts and more, including many free TAFE courses in high-demand areas. South West Tech School is a separate entity but is located on the South West TAFE site in central Warrnambool. Mr Fidge described its opening as a landmark moment for the region. “This $13.41 million facility brings world-class, immersive STEM experiences directly to local secondary students - complementing what they’re already learning in the classroom with hands-on access to robotics, drones, 3D printing and virtual reality,” he said. “For young people in our region, this is the kind of hitech learning that was simply out of reach before now.” Tech School director Rohan Keert is eager to welcome visitors to the new South West Tech School.

Entries open for overnight Relay THE 2027 Relay for Life will return to an overnight format in Warrnambool. Warrnambool event coordinator Jodie Carey said teams (and individuals) could now enter online for next year’s event, which will run overnight from 6pm on Friday, February 12 through until 10am on Saturday, February 13. The much-loved event will return to its overnight format for the first time since 2017. Cancer Council Victoria is calling on the Warrnambool community to get behind the milestone event and register now, following the recent launch of the 2027 Warrnambool Relay For Life dedicated webpage. As always, the 2027 Relay For Life is again expected to bring local families, friends, schools, sporting clubs and workplaces together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer and fight back against cancer. Maps for this spring season’s designated collection areas are now online and can be found at www.ffm.vic.gov.au/firewood. “It’s important people plan their firewood needs early as most wood takes longer than 12 months to dry,” Ms Ryan said. “People can collect up to two cubic metres per person per day with a maximum of 16 cubic metres per household per financial year as long as they collect from designated firewood collection areas during a firewood season.” DEECA balances access to firewood with safety, forest values, biodiversity and cultural heritage. Ms Ryan said it is illegal to collect wood outside designated areas or to chop down

rules, but people should know authorised officers patrol state forests and can issue on-the-spot fines of up to $814 to those caught breaking the firewood collection rules,” she said. If prosecuted in court, more serious offending can result in maximum penalties of $10,175 and/or 12 months in prison. Roundabout an ‘option’ for Allansford A ROUNDABOUT at the Princes Highway and Garabaldi Lane intersection has been identified as a potential long-term option to improve access and safety in Allansford.

The proposal has been included in the draft Allansford Transport and Access Strategy, which looks at traffic movement, road safety and walking and cycling connections across the town. The planned closure of the Ziegler Parade Bridge by the end of 2029 was a catalyst for the strategy and for community engagement to learn from Allansford residents their preferred alternatives. Warrnambool mayor Cr Ben Blain said a community survey in mid-2025 found more residents would prefer to use Garabaldi Lane to access the Princes Highway rather than Grauers Road following the bridge closure. “Garabaldi Lane is likely to become an increasingly important access point for Allansford, so we need to look at how that intersection can work as safely and

effectively as possible,” Cr Blain said. “The draft strategy identifies a roundabout as a potential longer-term option, together with widening of the Princes Highway. “Another option is a westbound acceleration lane to help vehicles entering the Princes Highway from Garabaldi Lane.” Cr Blain said the Princes Highway was managed by the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning, meaning any major upgrades would need state government support and funding. “Council has an important advocacy role to play in making the case for improvements, but whether an acceleration lane or a roundabout is built is ultimately a decision that will be made A roundabout at the intersection of Garabaldi Lane and the Princes by the state government,” he said. Cast and crew have been working hard to bring the much-loved Shrek: The Musical Kids! to the stage, with rehearsals throughout term three. Following auditions at the end of term two for enthusiastic performers from years 4–6, songs have since been shared with every year level, giving all students the chance to become involved. Leading the cast as Shrek is year 6 student Alfie Parkinson, who had never auditioned for a school musical before. Classmate Ivy McDonald takes on the role of Princess Fiona and has amazed classmates and teachers with her powerhouse performance. Then there’s Lord Farquaad, played by the larger-than-life Tyler Hunt, while the role of Donkey belongs to Sol McInerney. Director Samantha O’Keefe couldn’t be prouder of the cast and the wider school community. “This cast has been second to none. They have been working so hard and sharing their incredible talents, but the way they have worked together, sharing ideas and holding their own extra practices, shows how much this show means to them,” she said. The production has also become a wonderful example of the St Pius X community coming together. The new bridge deck will also include dedicated cycling lanes on both sides, improving safety for cyclists. Moyne Shire mayor Cr Jordan Lockett said the design retained the bridge’s familiar look and feel while meeting modern construction, design and safety standards.

Cr Lockett said further sessions would be held in the coming months as the project gathered pace. “We are a strong, resilient community, and working together, we’ll manage this challenge brilliantly,” he said. Former students keen to ‘come home’

THERE’S something about The group remembers returning walking back through the to class for a solid 10 minutes before the bell, apparently gates of your old school. The buildings might look a little different, the classrooms may have moved, the uniforms have certainly changed but within minutes you’re laughing with old friends like you’re 16 again. That was certainly the case when Matt Bushell, Alicia (Ryan) and Ben Boyd returned to Emmanuel College recently to help bring the 1996 reunion together. They like to think of themselves as the O.G. Emmanuel kids – the very first students to graduate from Emmanuel College after the amalgamation of CBC and St Ann’s. They were the first year 7 students to begin their secondary schooling under the Emmanuel name, making their return to the college 30 years later a little more special. And, as it turns out, the memories haven’t gone anywhere. Within minutes of being back on site, and back in the classrooms they called home, the stories were flowing – and so was the laughter. There were memories of competing in the Corporate Cup alongside local businesses, led by infamous teacher Paul Glynn. There were economics classes where, according to memory, considerably more time was spent outside playing racquetball than actually doing economics.

Then there was the textiles class - a sewing machine, a power cord, one questionable decision and a whole lot of gratitude, years later, for safety overloads on the mains power. And, of course, there was the “Nun Run” – the unofficial schoolyard challenge that involved dashing upstairs through the nuns’ living quarters before sprinting back downstairs again, all without getting caught. Looking back, it’s the sort of story that probably shouldn’t be replicated by today’s students. But it is exactly the sort of story that makes an old group of friends laugh until their stomachs hurt. For all the funny stories, however, there was something much deeper beneath the laughter. The trio all agreed that their years as students at Emmanuel formed an almost unbreakable bond. They grew up together. They shared milestones. They celebrated successes. They experienced loss. They supported each other through the highs and lows of teenage life and, eventually, the twists and turns of adulthood. There is a special closeness that develops when you ride life’s waves alongside the same group

Family-friendly show in Port Fairy WITH everything from giant bubbles and circus activities through to an animal petting zoo, vintage display and delicious Devonshire teas, this year’s Port Fairy Show looks set to be another great family day out.

To be held on Saturday, November 7, this year’s show looks set to have something for everyone, and committee members are working hard to keep the show affordable for all. “We have early bird prices currently available, which includes admission for a family of two adults and three children (under the age of 16) for just $20; these will be $25 on show day,” committee president Eveline Jackway said. “And our ride wristbands for kids are always very popular; for just $25 children up to the age of 12 can enjoy rides all day long with face painting and some fun with virtual reality glasses which is great value.” The Port Fairy Show is renowned for offering a variety of entertainment, food, free activities, music, competitions and displays and this year’s event will be no different. The main arena will again feature a quality show jumping competition, with competitors across a range of classes and ages, while the nearby pavilions will host the traditional art, photography, cooking, horticultural and needlework competitions. “We’re excited to have a harvest simulator here this year which will be exciting for people to have a go at,” Eveline said. “A wood carver will also be in action throughout the day along with sheep shearing demonstrations, sheep dogs and some talented wool spinners.” Visitors certainly won’t go hungry, with the Port Fairy Scouts manning a barbecue, the Lions Club selling traditional Christmas cakes, morning and afternoon tea in the pavilion, as well as some classic show favourites. “We always try to encourage our community groups

Colourful coasters still on display VISITORS to The F Project in Warrnambool were treated to a colourful display of decorative coasters. The Warrnambool Coaster Art Show, now in its fourth year, provided the opportunity for artists of all ages and abilities to showcase their designs – all in the name of fun. According to organiser Katherine Gage, well over 600 coasters were on display. “The coasters were contributed by in excess of about 300 artists,” Katherine

said. “It wasn’t a competition; the coaster art show is all about having fun, encouraging people to showcase their talents and for people of all ages to enjoy art. “We had lots of children contribute their work which was amazing; they get so much joy from seeing their pieces on display.” And for those who missed the launch on Saturday, August 22,, the display will remain at The F Project (224 Timor Street, Warrnambool) until tomorrow (Saturday).

Volunteer to now lead Francis Foundation

AFTER two years as a volunteer, Warrnambool’s Mike Weise has come out of retirement to become the Francis Foundation’s new coordinator.

Francis Foundation is a rooming house at the top of Banyan Street in Warrnambool and is one of only a handful of similar facilities outside of Melbourne. It has been in operation for 44 years and over that time has supported more 400 residents with a mental illness who are at risk of homelessness. It is currently home to 10 residents and Mr Weise believes it fulfils a vital role in the community. A former dairy industry leader, 69 year-old Mr Weise had been retired for four years but started volunteering as a minute taker at Francis Foundation two years ago. “I’ve really enjoyed helping the foundation and the amazing work it does supporting its 10 residents; I couldn’t resist the opportunity to apply to help the Board (all volunteers) and to become coordinator,” he said. The Francis Foundation is based at Alveston House, a property owned by Warrnambool City Council. Before it became home to up

to 11 residents, it was part of the Warrnambool Base Hospital and early last century was a maternity unit. The foundation was set up by Joan and John Grace to provide safe housing for people who were originally in Brierly, a former psychiatric hospital in Warrnambool which closed following a change in policy aimed at improving the outcomes for patients with mental illness. The Francis Foundation is a charity run almost exclusively by volunteers and its only sources of income are funds from its Op Shop in Port Fairy, charitable donations and residents’ rental. Mr Weise said about 50 volunteers support the foundation and its Op Shop but more were needed. “The Board is keen to recruit more volunteers to support the residents,” he said. “In this difficult economic time, it’s more important than ever to have an organisation like Francis Foundation to help people at risk of homelessness.” Anyone interested in helping the Alveston House residents, volunteering or donating can contact the Francis Foundation on 5562 5198.

Society members take a trip back in time MEMBERS and supporters of the Warrnambool and District Artists Society took a step back in time last weekend with the opening of a time capsule. Around 40 past and present members gathered at the Merri View Gallery on Sunday afternoon for the opening of the capsule, which had been stored at the gallery since 2001 (with instructions that it was not to be opened until 2026). Warrnambool City mayor Cr Ben Blain and current president Margaret Brodie opened the capsule, revealing a fascinating collection of items documenting the society’s early history and the development of the gallery. Inside were many photographs, old scrapbooks, financial records, exhibition records, club newsletters and newspaper articles, all providing a glimpse into the history of the gallery and the work undertaken by members over the years. Record books showed the financial progression of the gallery, while minutes from early meetings highlighted the many working bees undertaken by members to make alterations to the old building and prepare it

for use. The building became a place where members could meet, paint and, as they continue to do today, showcase the many beautiful works of art produced by society members. Family members of past society members also attended last weekend and shared memories of their parents’ involvement with the society during its early years. A special guest was Joan Dwyer, the society’s first secretary/treasurer from 1961 to 1966. Joan shared an interesting and entertaining account of those early days, adding a personal connection to the memories contained within the time capsule. The opening provided an opportunity for past and present members to reflect on the people, dedication and hard work that have contributed to the society’s history and the development of Merri View Gallery. The contents of the time capsule will remain on display at the gallery for the next month for visitors to enjoy. Merri View Gallery is located at 4 Coramba Court, Warrnambool, and is open on weekends from 1pm to 4pm. Admission is free.

Recognition for geriatric care program

SOUTH West Healthcare Warrnambool has been named a ﬁnalist in the Victorian Public Healthcare Awards (‘Care in the Community’ category).

The health service was nominated for its Geriatric Assessment in the Emergency Department (GAED) program which helps create better pathways to home care. The GAED program redesigns care for the region’s vulnerable older population, leading regional geriatric care. By combining clear pathways, multidisciplinary teamwork, strong community partnerships and realtime data, the GAED delivers demonstrably better health and wellbeing outcomes for individual patients and their carers, stronger cross-system performance and a healthier ageing population across the region that brings the spirit of ‘right care, right place, right time’ to life in a community of regional Victoria. The Victorian Public Healthcare Awards provide a unique opportunity for healthcare professionals to be recognised by their peers for their commitment to innovation and excellence in healthcare. Award winners will be announced at the Victorian Public Healthcare Awards gala night on Wednesday, October 14.

Free cancer wellness workshop PEOPLE affected by prostate cancer living in Warrnambool and surrounding areas can plan for life after treatment at a free cancer wellness workshop later this month. The workshop will run from 9am-4pm on Thursday, September 24 at the City Memorial Bowls Club. During the session, people who have been affected by prostate cancer (as well as their loved ones) will be able to access a range of valuable information. The Cancer Council Victoria program is run by local health professionals to assist those affected by cancer in making the change to life after treatment and finding a ‘new normal’.

Topics to be covered will include adjusting to physical and emotional changes after cancer treatment, working with your GP to support a healthy lifestyle, strategies for managing fatigue and other challenges, and connecting to support services in the community. An average of 265 people are diagnosed with cancer in the greater Warrnambool region each year. Cancer Council Victoria’s education and training lead Tracie Julian said the program helped cancer survivors and their loved ones adapt to life after treatment. “We often speak with people affected by cancer who share how challenging it is to return to their lives after their treatment ends,” Ms Julian said.

“Finding a ‘new normal’ is physically and emotionally complex, so we’re looking forward to continuing to support individuals impacted by cancer through the process.” Feedback from one recent participant of the program said: “Things didn’t just fall back into place like they were before I got sick. This program really helped me deal with changes in my life at home and at work. It made me realise I wasn’t the only one feeling a bit overwhelmed.” Another said the program made them feel like they weren’t the only one going through struggles that come out of diagnosis and treatment. The program is free, but participants must register.

Parkinson’s walk on next month ORGANISERS are once again crossing their ﬁngers for clear skies and big crowds at this year’s Parkinson’s Awareness Walk in Warrnambool. Aptly renamed the Andrew Suggett Parkinson’s Walk (in honour of the man who inspired, and continues to inspire many across the region) this year’s walk will be held on Sunday, October 4 from 10.30am. The walk will start from behind The Pavilion Café (at the breakwater) with a free sausage sizzle set to greet participants on their return. Coordinator of the Warrnambool Parkinson’s Support Group Liz Morse hopes the local community will once again show its support and turn out in droves. “This annual walk aims to provide an opportunity for people living in the district to show their support and to raise awareness and funds for Fight

At Mortlake agents yarded 1,199 Bullocks sold to 488c grown steers head an increase of 137 compared reached 500c and crossbred steers sold to 480c/kg. with the previous sale. It was an improved quality yarding of cattle particularly in the trade section. The bullock offering included some good heavy weights while there were also more supplementary-fed cattle on offer. Cows accounted for just over half of the yarding. The cow offering comprised 39% beef cows with the balance being dairy bred. Most regular buyers were in attendance although not all were fully active. There was still strong feeder activity throughout the sale. The yarding consisted of 118 bullocks, 357 trade cattle, 639 cows and 85 grown bulls. With the improved quality the market was stronger across the trade and bullock categories with prices lifting by 10 to 15c/ kg in places. Most cows gained 8 to 10c while bulls improved by 10 to 20c/kg driven by quality.

Grown heifers ranged from 460 to 510c while dairy-bred manufacturing steers sold to 446c/kg. Better quality trade cattle ranged from 500 to 560c/kg. Heavy beef cows made between 395 and 448c while medium weight cows sold from 370c to 396c/kg. Better covered dairy cows ranged from 372 to 410c/kg. Grown beef bulls reached 480c with dairy-bred bulls selling to 440c and younger bulls made up to 435c/kg. The ALPA Young Auctioneers Competition for South Australia and Victoria was conducted at the conclusion of-today’s sale. Hamilton agents yarded 1,100 lambs, 150 fewer than last week’s offering, along with 2200 sheep, an increase of 750 head. Lamb numbers remained small, with quality mixed throughout, although the better end of the yarding consisted of supplementary-fed lambs. Most of the regular buying group were present, although some were less active due to the limited numbers and mixed quality on offer. The lamb market eased by $10 to $15/head in places. Trade lambs averaged between 1,050¢ and 1,150¢/kg cwt, with the market topping at $392/head. Light lambs weighing 12 to 16kg sold from $146 to $180/head, while trade lambs weighing 18 to 22kg made $189 to $236/head. Lambs in the 22 to 26kg range sold from $240 to $294/head, while heavier trade lambs made from $287 to a top of $392/head. Hoggets sold to $300/head. In a mixed yarding of sheep across all weights and grades, the market remained generally firm. The exception was the very heavy ewe category, which eased by $10 to $20/ head. Sheep averaged between 850¢ and 1,000¢/kg cwt. Crossbred ewes sold to $300/head, Merino ewes with skin reached $254/ head, and Merino wethers made to $260/head. Saints march to grand final KOROIT’S Open netball side booked itself a spot in the Hampden League grand final with a nailbiting two goal win over South Warrnambool last weekend. Last Saturday’s clash between last year’s grand finalists was another great spectacle, with just a goal separating the two at both the main break and three-quarter time. A high scoring final term, which saw the Saints pile on 23 goals while containing the Roosters to 22, kept the crowd on edge until the final whistle. Rebecca Hicks shot a game high 50 goals for the Saints and was well supported by team-mate Indi O’Connor (11), while for the Roosters goals went to Darcy McFarlane (23), Meg Carlin (20) and Emma Buwalda (16). Best for the Saints were Hicks, Layla Monk and Indi

O’Connor while for the Roosters, Ally O’Connor, Darcy McFarlane and Isabella Rea were best. The Roosters will now take on Warrnambool (who defeated Cobden 48-46 on Sunday) in this Saturday’s preliminary final decider at Gardens Oval. In the Hampden League senior football, ladder leaders North Warrnambool booked a spot in the grand final after defeating Terang Mortlake by 48 points last weekend. The Bloods will now face Koroit (who ended Portland’s finals campaign last weekend) in Saturday’s preliminary final. Preliminary final game times for tomorrow (Saturday) at Gardens Oval Port Fairy: FOOTBALL Seniors, 2.15pm: Terang Mortlake v Koroit. Reserves, 12.05pm: South Warrnambool v Cobden. Grand ﬁnal showdown this weekend ALLANSFORD is set to meet Nirranda in this weekend’s grand final after scoring a 26 point win over Timboon in Saturday’s Warrnambool and District senior football preliminary final.

Timboon led throughout the first half before the Cats kicked nine goals to four in the second half to run out 15.10.100 to 11.8.74 winners at Davidson Oval. Jordan Eldridge, Bradley Bull and Jarvis Bermingham were Allansford’s best in the win, with Louis Herbert and Robbie Hare kicking three goals each. Ben Newey, Finn Castledine and Sam Newey were best for Timboon, with Bayley Thompson kicking three goals. A tight reserves preliminary final saw Nirranda have a 4.5.29 to 4.3.27 win over Russells Creek. Benjamin Hadden, Jake Hards and Jason Lee were best for the Blues, with Marcus Askew, Brayden Elford and Alix Lane best for Russells Creek. As in the seniors, Nirranda will play Allansford in the grand final. Russells Creek was too strong for Allansford in the under 18.5 football, recording a 10.11.71 to 0.1.1 win. Best for Russells Creek were Max Carter, Gilbert Harrison and Kobi Chatfield, with Xavier Chatfield and Aristeidis Raptis kicking two goals each. For Allansford, Sam White, Thomas Creed and Jaylen Robson were best. Russells Creek will now play South Rovers in the decider. In the under 16s, Dennington had a 5.2.32 to 2.5.17 win over Old Collegians. Jacob Hose, Fletcher Gillmartin and Jack Weathers were best for the Dogs, with Luke Roney kicking two goals. For Old Collegians, Zeke Williams, Archie McGovern and Dylan Verspay were best. Dennington will play Allansford in this Saturday’s under 16 grand final. The under 13.5 preliminary final saw Old Collegians defeat South Rovers. Best for Old Collegians were Joel King, Jack Cushen and Darcy O’Shannassy, while for South Rovers Hugh Walther, Mitchell Synott and Ryder Lynch were best. Old Collegians will now meet Dennington in this week’s under 13 grand final. The A grade netball preliminary final saw Merrivale have a 37-31 win over Allansford. Georgia Martin, Tahni Porter and Mia Mills were best for the Tigers in the win, with Paiyton Noonan shooting 33 goals. Jessica Rohan shot 25 goals and

was best for Allansford alongside Abby Sheehan and Lisa Pender. Merrivale will now meet Nirranda in Saturday’s grand final. In A reserve, Allansford had a 30-20 win over Nirranda. Best for the Cats were Maddison Drake, Sally Bond and Caitlin Boyce, with Courtney Bellman shooting 14 goals and Drake 13. For Nirranda, Victoria Rea, Kaitlin Willsher and Rebecca Young were best; Young shooting 11 goals. Allansford will play Merrivale this Saturday for the A reserve premiership. The B grade preliminary final saw Allansford record a 29-25 win over Nirranda. Jordan Arms, Claire Sparrow and Rachael Windridge were best for Allansford, with Windridge shooting 18 goals. For Nirranda, Milly Wiggins, Brooke Haberfield and Paige Haberfield were best, with Madison Parsons shooting 21 goals. Allansford will play Merrivale in this week’s B grade decider. Allansford also got the win in the 17 and under netball, defeating Russells Creek 26-20. Ava Cook, Eliza Byron and Sienna Byron were best for the Cats, with Ellie Christoforou scoring 11 goals and Olivia Anderson 10. Best for Russells Creek were Milla Cann, Reese McIntyre and Fleur Mahoney. Old Collegians and Allansford will meet in this week’s 17 and under grand final. The 15 and under netball saw Russells Creek defeat Dennington 39-22. Alicia Martin, Stella Giblett and Emily Hancock were best for Russells Creek, with Ella Henriksen shooting 36 goals. For Dennington, Lily Hose, Maya Anderton and Shayla Chatfield were best with Anderton shooting 11 goals and Hose 10. Russells Creek now go on to play the undefeated Timboon in the grand final. Merrivale had a 27-8 win over Dennington in the 13 and under preliminary final and will now play Timboon in the grand final. Dennington was too strong for Merrivale in the 11 and under game, winning 21-2. Maisy Murphy, Isabelle Crothers and Nala Faulkner were best for Dennington, with Faulkner shooting 15 goals. Addison Dowling, April Kelly and Sylvie McKenzie were Merrivale’s best in the loss. Timboon and Dennington will now meet in Saturday’s grand final.

Murray finished on 83-9-74, ahead of Anthony Eccles in second on 93-17-76 and Brett Whillsher third 83-4-79. They were followed by Trevor Blackley 95-16-79 and Gerard Eccles 87-7-80. B grade was won by John Eccles 87-19-68 followed by Brad White 89-19-70, Glenn Tracey 104-28-76, Peter Sanderson 102-23-79 and Neil McDonald 102-20-81. Nearest the pins: 3rd Peter Sanderson, 6th Craig Lee, 7th Craig Lee and 9th Ayden Bosse. The social winner was Brett Willsher. This Saturday will be stableford pairs (multiplication). Fortunately, the weather was kind allowing for some great games of soccer. The day kicked off with some under 8 and under 10 friendlies, with the kids being able to experience the biggest game day of the year. The under 12 grand final was between league champions Rangers Blue and Hamilton SC. Rangers Blue won 1-0, with Harry Kerr scoring the only goal. The under 13 girls grand final was between league champions Colac Otway Rovers and Port Fairy SC. In a hard fought game Colac Otway Rovers came out on top 5-2 with Mackenzie Rocka scoring a hat trick.

Both teams had defeated each other this season in close matches. The grand final was no different, with Teal having a 1-0 win in a tight contest. Declan Membrey scored the only goal. The under 17s was between rivals Rangers and Wolves. In some high quality, free flowing football Rangers were able to find the back of the net twice to finish 2-0 winners – finishing the season as league champions and premiers. Bailey Reed and Harvey Warburton finished with a goal each. The women’s grand final was another epic game between Rangers and Wolves. With no score at full-time the game went into extra time. Scores were still locked at 0-0 at the end of extra time,

champions but Wolves got the chocolates in the grand final finishing with a 4-3 win on penalties. The men’s grand final was between league champions Rangers Blue vs Rangers Teal. The game was a high quality affair with great passing and skills on display. The first half was tight, with Ryan Bail finding the net in the 44th minute giving Blue a 1-0 lead at halftime. The second half continued much the same as the first with Blue coming away with a 3-0 win and taking the title of league champions and premiers. Ryan Bail finished with a hat trick. A massive thankyou to all referees, officials, volunteers, sponsors and supporters who made grand final day a possibility; without them the games couldn’t go ahead.

The Wolves senior women’s side celebrates its premiership win.

THE Warrnambool Wolves’ senior women’s side has celebrated back-to-back premierships. The team won the grand final of the Football South West League competition last Sunday in a penalty shootout after extra time was unable to determine a result. The Wolves’ under 17s narrowly missed converting goal scoring opportunities, and were kept scoreless by their opponents (the Rangers) during their grand final at Brierly Reserve last Sunday.
