KOROIT youngsters can look forward to a new pump track in town later next year thanks to this week’s state government pledge of $500,000. Member for Western Victoria Jacinta Ermacora said the funding would go towards the Koroit Youth Space project and would include a pump track, an accessible footpath network, seating and shelter upgrades and refurbishment of the existing court area. “This is truly a community project; it was driven by the community and has received financial support from the community together with Moyne Shire Council and now the state government,” Ms Ermacora said. Shire mayor Cr Jordan Lockett said he was thrilled with this week’s announcement, which adds to the $100,000 council contribution and the over $100,000 raised by the local community (including $40,000 from the Lions club, $20,000 from the Irish Festival and $40,000 through the South West Community Foundation). He acknowledged the contribution of local community advocate Ray Kaynes, who had been instrumental in building community support, attracting donations and maintaining momentum behind the project. “This week’s announcement shows the power of a community getting behind something it believes in. I can’t wait to see this project underway.”

Seedling sale nurtures garden WARRNAMBOOL’S community gardeners are celebrating the return of warmer weather with the garden’s firstever spring seedling sale next weekend. The Saturday, October 24 sale will offer hundreds of locally grown plants to help residents kick-start their spring and summer growing seasons. The sale will run from 10am-12 noon (or until sold out) at the Warrnambool Community Garden, on the corner of Grieve and Derby streets. Organisers say hundreds of seedlings will be available, including spring and summer favourites such as tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers and pumpkins, plus herbs, flowers and native species. Many varieties have been selected for flavour, resilience and long-season production, with both common and more unusual options on offer. Adele Kenneally, a committee member with the garden, said the event had been a great experiment in collaboration and coordination. “It’s been a fun challenge for volunteers to start these seeds and take care of them over the last few months,” she said. “While it hasn’t all been smooth sailing, they are looking healthy and strong, ready for their new homes. “The varieties we’ve chosen are well suited for this area, and many are heirloom varieties you simply can’t buy at nurseries or hardware stores.” Ms Kenneally said the garden’s ‘Plotters’ team had been busy propagating seedlings in preparation for the sale, which aims to both support the garden’s ongoing work with the funds raised, and strengthen local connections around food growing and sustainability. To help the event run smoothly, organisers are asking attendees to arrive early as popular varieties are expected to sell quickly. “Bring a bag or box to carry your seedlings home and bring cash for faster checkout (eftpos will also be available),” Ms Kenneally said. For more information about the event or Warrnambool Community Garden and how to get involved, visit wcg3280.org.au, phone 0493 057 811, or email grow@wcg3280.org.au.

Britnell pledges $1 million for Friendlies THE long-awaited redevelopment of Friendly Societies Park will be given the green light if a Liberal government is elected next month according to Member for South West Coast Roma Britnell. Speaking from the facility last week, Ms Britnell pledged $1 million to fund the project. Friendly Societies Park is home to the South Warrnambool Football Netball Club. If the Liberals are elected to govern at next month’s state election, this funding commitment would turn the club’s vision into reality by helping deliver a larger, safer and modern playing surface suitable for Hampden Football Netball League. The project will upgrade the oval to meet AFL standards, remove the old bitumen velodrome, improve drainage and install an automated irrigation system. The existing oval currently sports a significant slope and is constrained by the disused bitumen track surrounding the playing surface. Players crossing the boundary at speed currently risk sliding or falling onto the unforgiving asphalt. Despite years of planning and considerable contributions from the South Warrnambool Football Netball Club, a funding shortfall has prevented the project from proceeding. Ms Britnell said South Warrnambool was one of the region’s great sporting clubs and deserved a home ground that reflected its proud history, strong participation and significant contribution to the community. “This commitment forms part of the Liberals’ plan to invest in community sporting infrastructure and ensure regional clubs receive modern, safe and

A Liberal Government will provide the missing $1 million and finally get this project across the line.

“Generations of South Warrnambool families have worked, fundraised and volunteered for this club. They have waited long enough to see this project completed.” Ms Britnell believes this redevelopment will create a safer, larger and more professional playing surface capable of supporting junior, senior and female football at the standard expected in the Hampden league.

“Friendlies is steeped in history, but its playing surface belongs to another era. It is time to remove the dangerous asphalt, correct the significant slope and create the first-class oval these players deserve. “South Warrnambool has produced champions, built lifelong friendships and brought this community together for generations. We will deliver a modern home ground worthy of the mighty Roosters and their remarkable legacy.”

Every stitch tells a caring story

A COMMUNITY knitting project has resulted in a colourful scarf measuring almost 260 metres long. As part of Carers Week 2026, Mpower last month invited carers, family members, friends and community members to contribute a knitted section to its ‘Carers Connection Community Scarf’ project – with every stitch celebrating a carer in our community. “We were overwhelmed by the number of people who contributed to this amazing project,” carer support facilitator with Mpower Tracy McKendry said. “The finished product, this giant scarf, was laid out along the breakwater on Tuesday and measured almost 260 metres long which was so exciting. “This is a wonderful recognition of the many unpaid carers across south west Victoria and represents the care, support and compassion they provide every day.”

East of Aberline plans welcomed WARRNAMBOOL City Council has welcomed the state government’s completion of the ‘East of Aberline Precinct Structure Plan’ and ‘Development Contributions Plan.’ The precinct, in northeast Warrnambool, is expected to eventually accommodate up to 15,000 people and 4500 new homes. The Structure Plan outlines where major roads, open spaces, sporting reserves, community facilities, a town centre and a site for a government primary school will go. The Development Contributions Plan establishes how developers will contribute towards infrastructure

required to support the new community, including transport, drainage and community infrastructure. Warrnambool mayor Cr Ben Blain said the area would allow for Warrnambool’s continued sustainable growth over the next 20 to 30 years. “At up to 15,000 people, East of Aberline will eventually be a community similar in size to Colac, so it’s a very important development for Warrnambool,” he said. “As well as residential areas, the plan sets aside space for the infrastructure and facilities that a community of this size will need, including parks and sporting facilities, community spaces, shops, roads and walking and cycling connections. “Important environmental areas like Francis Tozer Reserve and Russells

Creek will be protected. “We have an opportunity to create a well-connected community where people can live, work and play. “This project has been years in the making, so I’d like to acknowledge the Victorian Planning Authority and everyone who has contributed to the process, including government agencies, council staff, Traditional Owners, landowners and members of the community.” Development of East of Aberline is expected to occur progressively over the next 20-30 years, depending on factors including landowner intentions and market demand. Council will be the responsible authority for the precinct, assessing future planning permit applications.

Arts and culture strategy delivers

SIGNIFICANT progress is being made under Moyne Shire Council’s arts and culture strategy, with a new implementation report showing strong outcomes for local artists, creative organisations and communities across the municipality. The first annual implementation report

shows the strategy has successfully moved from planning into delivery, with seven priority actions completed and 15 actions underway or ongoing. During 2025-26, council supported 27 creative initiatives, facilitated 58 creative opportunities, recorded 542 engagements with creative community members and helped create 183 connections between artists, organisations, businesses and

venues. Council invested more than $107,000 in creative initiatives through a range of council programs and funding streams, with a further $56,000 invested in creative space development and improvements, while securing more than $53,000 in external funding to support the delivery of strategy actions. Key achievements included the launch of the public art program Big Art. Small Towns, the commencement of Creative Residencies in Killarney (as well as Macarthur and Mortlake), and paid creative opportunities for 64 young people through initiatives including Future Folk and Band Camp. Mayor Cr Jordan Lockett said the report demonstrated the value of investing in arts and culture across the shire. “Arts and culture play such an important role in connecting communities, supporting local talent and enriching the places we live,” Cr Lockett said. “This report shows we are delivering

on our commitment to support creative opportunities across Moyne, while building the foundations for a strong and sustainable creative sector. “It is particularly encouraging to see the level of community participation, the success of programs for young people, and the strong demand for initiatives such as Creative Change Grants.” Council also recorded a significant increase in digital engagement through its Creative Moyne channels, growing from approximately 7,800 engagements in 202425 to more than 244,000 in 2025-26. “Moyne has a habit of creating outcomes beyond what its size might suggest,” Cr Lockett said. “With the wind in the sails of our creative community, and inspiration drawn from our coastline, countryside and communities, the future of arts and culture in Moyne looks exceptionally bright.” The report was endorsed at the September Ordinary Council Meeting.

Shearwaters travel more than 15,000 km to Australia each year to breed in spring and summer, one of the world’s longest bird migrations. Some exhausted birds do not survive the journey and may be found on beaches. DEECA reminds residents that if they see sick or dead Shearwaters to leave them in place and report their findings to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline or via the online reporting form. “Our on-ground and aerial surveillance continues across the state, and we are working with experts to inform surveillance of at-risk areas, particularly as we move into the spring breeding season for many waterbirds, including the arrival of migratory species,” Eve Graham, director of wildlife and protection said. “As H5 bird flu becomes established in wild bird populations in Victoria, our response activities continue to focus on surveillance, public safety and protecting high-risk

with sick or dead birds, wildlife or their environment as this helps to avoid disease spread by people. Record what you see, and report wildlife sickness or deaths to DEECA using the online form on the Agriculture Victoria website or call the Emergency Animal Disease hotline on 1800 675 888. “It is normal at this time of year to see Shearwaters washed up on Victorian beaches; this does not automatically indicate H5 bird flu,” Ms Graham said. “Your reports help wildlife and animal health experts monitor and respond to potential disease risks. “Community reports remain important in helping us to understand the impact of bird flu on Victorian wildlife.” Ms Graham said year-round surveillance for avian influenza viruses in wild birds is part of the National Avian Influenza Wild Bird Surveillance Program, coordinated by Wildlife Health Australia.

Multicultural visionary earns nomination WARRNAMBOOL’S Daisy Ye continues to shine bright for the district’s multicultural community.

Daisy has been named a finalist in the 2026 Regional Development Victoria Leadership and Innovation Award. The award recognises individuals who demonstrate tenacity, dedication, selflessness, leadership and innovative thinking, and who are driving positive change in their communities. It celebrates community role models who turn challenges into opportunities, strengthen their communities and pave the way for others through leadership and innovation. For Daisy, the recognition reflects the collective work of community organisations, volunteers, supporters and partners who have worked alongside her to create greater opportunities for participation, connection, leadership and employment across Warrnambool and South West Victoria. Since co-founding the Warrnambool Multicultural Association (WMA) in 2022, Daisy has helped establish and deliver more than 65 intercultural programs, events and partnerships, including the annual Warrnambool Multicultural Festival, which brings together more than 4,000 people and 45 cultures. Her work has also included

initiating the inaugural Belonging South West Multicultural Forum, supporting Warrnambool’s sistercity relationships with China and Japan, and leading the regional delivery of Deakin CREATE’s Career Clinic, connecting skilled migrant and refugee professionals with mentors, employment pathways and local opportunities. Daisy said the nomination was a recognition of what can be achieved when people, organisations and communities work together. “For me, this recognition is about way more than one person,” she said. “It is an opportunity to recognise the contribution that multicultural communities, community leaders, volunteers and partners are making to the development of regional Victoria. “Regional development is about people and partnerships. It is about creating opportunities for people to participate, contribute their skills, build connections and play an active role in the future of the communities where they live.” She said she was incredibly grateful to the many people and organisations who have supported this work and shared the belief that Warrnambool and south west Victoria can be stronger when everyone has opportunities to contribute. The award winners will be announced at a gala ceremony in Melbourne this Saturday, October 17.

Advocacy continues as election looms

WITH the November state election fast approaching, Moyne Shire Council is continuing to advocate its local and regional priorities.

Mayor Cr Jordan Lockett said invitations had been sent to all incumbent MPs and declared lower house candidates, inviting them to meet with council to discuss local and regional priorities. “Invitations have been extended to all candidates contesting seats that include parts of Moyne Shire, with several meetings already confirmed and discussions continuing to be arranged throughout the campaign,” Cr Lockett said. He said council was taking a practical and focused approach to its advocacy, concentrating on shovel ready projects ready for government consideration. “Council endorsed its priorities in March and

we have been actively advocating for them ever since,” he said. “They include upgrades to Bartons Road in Nullawarre and the Mortlake-Woolsthorpe road corridor, funding for the Koroit Youth Space and the Port Fairy Footbridge, a fairer distribution of community benefits from renewable energy projects, and investment to support the upgrade and renewal of aquatic facilities. “These are priorities we’ve been consistently advocating for with our current local members and government stakeholders because we know they are achievable, they address genuine community needs, and they will leave a lasting legacy for our communities.” Cr Lockett said that, alongside local priorities, Moyne would also advocate for broader regional priorities outlined in the South West Victoria Alliance’s State Election Platform. “Those regional priorities include upgrades to key freight and transport routes, including

Woolsthorpe-Heywood Road and the Princes, Hopkins and Hamilton highways,” he said. “Both the South West Victoria Alliance and Rural Councils Victoria are calling for increased and guaranteed investment in regional Victoria. Moyne strongly supports those calls. “Joining together with regional organisations strengthens our advocacy. It amplifies our voice, demonstrates a united regional front and highlights the importance of investing in communities across regional Victoria.” Cr Lockett said the meetings would ensure every candidate understands what is important to Moyne residents, businesses and community groups. “Regardless of who forms government after the election, our focus remains on securing the support and investment needed to help our communities thrive,” he said. “We look forward to working constructively with all candidates throughout the campaign.”

Moyne Shire mayor Cr Jordan Lockett.

Be prepared for fire season KOROIT Fire Brigade will host a ‘get fire ready’ community day tomorrow (Saturday) at the Koroit Civic Green.

Brigade members will be on hand from 11am until 2pm to offer valuable advice to the community in the lead-up to what is anticipated will be a high-risk fire season. This is an ideal opportunity to speak with brigade members, enjoy some fun, hands-on water activities (for both adults and children), see firefighter demonstrations, learn how to stay safe around fire, and discover simple ways to prepare your home and family for the upcoming fire season. CFA deputy chief officer south west region Adrian Gutsche encouraged the wider community to meet with their local volunteers and learn how a few simple actions now can help everyone feel more prepared and confident ahead of summer. “We want people to understand the fire risk that exists in their area and what they can do now to be better prepared before the fire season,” he said. “The AFAC Spring Outlook indicated that we have an above average risk of fire in pockets of our region, particularly the far south west corner, meaning we could get an earlier start to the season than normal due to the underlying dryness and various rainfall deficits.” He said the Get Fire Ready events were about helping local residents to take action now to become better prepared around their properties and among families. “Having a plan and preparing early can make a significant difference during an emergency,” Mr Gutsche said. “Taking a few simple steps now rather than waiting until a high fire danger day arrives is the perfect start.” To find out more visit www.cfa.vic. gov.au/getfireready.

Public spaces need your vision ARTISTS across Moyne Shire are invited to be a part of the council’s BIG ART.SMALL TOWNS public art program. The program transforms everyday spaces into outdoor exhibition sites (such as the current exhibition on the exterior of the Koroit Theatre). Council has introduced a single, annual application process to select artworks for three exhibition periods between February and November next year. Expressions of interest opened last Monday, October 5, and applications are now welcome. The project showcases local and regional artists through large-scale installations. Successful artists will receive a $1500 artist fee per site, with their work professionally reproduced and displayed for approximately three months. Moyne Shire mayor Cr Jordan Lockett said the program created ongoing opportunities for regional artists while bringing creativity into local communities. “BIG ART. SMALL TOWNS. makes creativity visible in our communities and gives artists opportunities to showcase their work in places where people live, work and visit,” Cr Lockett said. “Building on our first exhibition, we’re excited to see more regional artists featured across Koroit. “Having one application process for the

year also helps artists plan ahead while delivering a changing program of artworks for residents and visitors to enjoy.” The current inaugural exhibition concludes in November 2026, making way for a youth-specific exhibition as part of Youth Fest celebrations.

Emerging and established artists can submit existing works or propose new pieces, with no set theme. Council will manage artwork production, installation and promotion. This is the only general expression of interest round for the 2027 program, with

a separate youth application process later in the year. Applications will close on Friday, November 13. For more details and an application form visit www.moyne.vic.gov.au/Public-Art

Small baskets, big change WARRNAMBOOL residents will soon have a new way to recycle on the go, with Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic) rolling out bin baskets across the community. Delivered in partnership with Warrnambool City Council, the trial will see specially designed baskets installed on public litter bins, making it easy to leave eligible drink containers for others to collect and return for a 10-cent refund. A total of 50 baskets will be placed in high-traffic areas such as Lake Pertobe, the foreshore, the city centre and the Botanic Gardens. Warrnambool Mayor Cr Ben Blain said that drink containers are one of the most common items found in public bins, particularly in parks. “We undertook an audit of some of our public bins, and up to 25 per cent of their contents were CDS-eligible containers,” he said. “These new baskets are an easy way to make sure these containers are recycled, and they can also help community members who collect containers to earn the 10-cent refund. “These baskets have been introduced

in other parts of Victoria and have proved successful, with audits by Yarra Ranges Council demonstrating a 74 per cent reduction in eligible containers in bins where baskets were installed. “If using the baskets, please leave the labels on bottles and remember not to crush your cans, as the barcode needs to be scanned at the CDS refund point in order to receive the 10-cent refund.” Matt Davis, CEO of scheme coordinator VicReturn, said that while three billion drink containers have been returned through CDS Vic since the scheme’s launch in November 2023, the bin baskets will help capture more containers in public spaces, which has been challenging. “When you’re out and about, look for a CDS Vic bin basket. Leave your eligible containers for someone else, or take them with you to return at your nearest refund point,” Mr Davis said. In Warrnambool, CDS Vic refund points are located at are-able on Albert Street, Dan Murphy’s, Gateway Plaza, the Homemaker Centre and the Dennington Woolworths.

Green light for faster visas Planning scheme

MOYNE Shire Council has welcomed the federal government’s decision to restore agriculture as a priority sector for skilled visa processing.

This decision follows strong advocacy from regional communities, industry groups and local government. The announcement reverses changes introduced under Ministerial Direction 119, which altered visa processing priorities and left many employer-sponsored agricultural workers facing longer processing times. Under the new arrangements, agriculture has been reinstated as a priority sector alongside other critical industries. In recent weeks, Moyne Shire Council wrote to the Minister and Shadow Minister for Home Affairs, the Minister and Shadow Minister for Agriculture, local Federal Member Dan Tehan MP and Senator for Victoria Raff Ciccone, calling for the restoration of priority processing for agricultural workers. Mayor Cr Jordan Lockett said the announcement was a positive outcome for farmers, regional communities and the broader agricultural sector. “This is a welcome acknowledgement that agriculture is simply too important to be treated as an afterthought in Australia’s skilled migration system,” Cr Lockett said. “When Ministerial Direction 119 was introduced, local farmers raised concerns that agriculture had effectively been pushed to the back of the queue. “Council shared those concerns and took them directly to federal decision-makers.”

Cr Lockett said agriculture was the backbone of the Moyne economy, generating more than $1.1 billion in annual output and directly supporting more than 2,700 local jobs. It also underpins a major food manufacturing sector across south-west Victoria. He said the decision demonstrated the value of advocacy and the importance of regional voices being heard. “This is exactly why advocacy matters. Council heard concerns from local producers and worked alongside industry and government representatives to make the case that agriculture deserved to be recognised as a priority industry,” Cr Lockett said. “We’re pleased the government has listened to regional communities and recognised the critical role agriculture plays in supporting jobs, exports and food production.” The updated visa processing priorities now include agriculture, as well as construction, healthcare, fisheries and teaching. Cr Lockett said council would continue to advocate on issues affecting local farmers and agricultural businesses. “Agriculture supports nearly one-third of all local jobs. When our agricultural sector succeeds, our whole community benefits,” he said. “We welcome this decision and thank everyone who worked together to ensure the voice of regional Australia was heard.”

MOYNE Shire councillors have These updates are largely policy-neutral endorsed the Moyne Planning and administrative in nature, ensuring the planning scheme remains current, Scheme Review 2026. This review is a comprehensive, independent assessment that confirms the planning scheme is performing well while identifying opportunities to strengthen planning policy and support future growth across the shire. As required under the Planning and Environment Act 1987, councils must review their planning schemes every four years. The review was undertaken by Schemology and Cummins Planning, with funding support from the Department of Transport and Planning. The review found that the Moyne Planning Scheme provides a robust strategic and statutory framework for managing land use and development and acknowledged council’s work on key projects including the Port Fairy Coastal and Structure Plan, Rural Housing and Settlement Strategy, and Koroit Structure Plan. It also recognised council’s leadership in addressing coastal inundation risks and highlighted the need for ongoing land use and settlement planning through the Moyne Futures Blueprint – Land Use Strategy. Council will now seek authorisation from the Minister for Planning to prepare and exhibit a planning scheme amendment to implement the review’s recommendations.

consistent and aligned with recent strategic planning work and council priorities. Mayor Cr Jordan Lockett said the review provided a valuable roadmap for the future of planning in Moyne. “This review confirms that our planning scheme is serving the community well while identifying practical improvements that will help ensure it remains current and effective,” Cr Lockett said. “It recognises the significant work council has undertaken in areas such as housing, coastal planning and sustainable economic development, and provides a clear direction for future strategic planning across the shire. “Importantly, the next stage will include public exhibition of the proposed planning scheme amendment, giving our communities and stakeholders the opportunity to have their say on the recommended changes.” Any amendment arising from the review will be publicly exhibited, with community members and stakeholders invited to provide feedback through a formal submissions process. “We aim to constantly improve our planning processes while continuing to meet state guidelines and support good planning outcomes for our communities.”

Some big hits in round two A FULL round of matches was played on Saturday in round two of the Warrnambool Moyne and District Cricket Association’s senior men’s premier division. West Warrnambool scored its first win of the season with a 20 run win over Russells Creek at Deakin University. Batting first, West posted 8/186 from its 45 overs. Captain Ben Threlfall top scored with 41 from 55 balls, with opener Poorna Nanayakkara making 38 from 43. Camperdown CC permit player Steven Fisher was pick of the Russells Creek bowlers for the second week in a row with 3/17 from five overs. After slumping to 3/18, partnerships of 79 for the fourth wicket between Cam Williams and Harrison Barnes, and 46 for the fifth wicket between Barnes and Probodha Senevirathne, put Creek in with a strong chance before a massive collapse saw the Kangaroos lose their last five wickets for 17 runs to be all out for 166 in 41.2 overs. Williams hit five fours and two sixes in his 62 from 63 balls, with Barnes making 45 from 69 balls and Senevirathne 21 from 29. Threlfall made it a big all-round game with a haul of 5/26 from nine overs. Mortlake also got its first points of the 2026/27 season with a two wicket win over Warrnambool at Mortlake College. Batting first, Warrnambool made 8/167 from its 45 overs with Charith Fernando top scoring with 54 from 53 balls. Teenager Max Slater led the bowling for the home team with 4/23 from four overs, while former skipper Todd Lamont went at less than a run an over with his 1/8 from nine overs. Mortlake passed Warrnambool’s score in 36.2 overs but lost eight wickets in doing so. The evergreen Clinton Baker top scored with 49 from 42 balls, Saman Gonawala made 47 from 45, with Slater continuing his breakout premier division performance with 25 from 48 balls batting at number three. Noorat Terang continued its strong start to the season with an eight wicket win over North Warrnambool at Bushfield. The home team batted first and posted 5/152, led by an unbeaten 76 from 120 balls to Nickolas Robertson. Heshan De Silva led the bowling for Noorat Terang with 2/21 from nine overs. It took the Lions just 27.1 overs to pass the score, led by 75 from 63 balls to De Silva, with Ryan Mottram unbeaten on 45 from 53 when the score was passed. At Purnim, Port Fairy recorded a massive 200 run win over the Northern Raiders.

Jason Perera hit 103 from 104 balls with eight fours and five sixes as the Pirates posted 8/250 batting first. The Raiders in reply were bowled out for just 50 in 28.2 overs, with Henry Bensch taking 3/10 from six overs for Port Fairy. At the Panmure Recreation Reserve, Allansford-Panmure registered a five wicket win over Merrivale. Batting first, Merrivale could only manage 94, all out in 38.3 overs. Noah Burgess top scored for the Tigers with 39 from 52 balls, with Joe Kenna and Joe Nyikos taking three wickets each for the Gators. Allansford-Panmure passed the score in the 21st over for the loss of five wickets, with Zavier Mungean 28 not out from 27 balls. Mark Jones led the Merrivale bowlers with 3/28 from nine overs. At Wenborn Oval, Nestles scored a seven wicket win over Dennington.

Led by 60 from 70 balls to Dilip Tharaka, Dennington made 8/187 from its 45 overs batting first. Geoff Williams led the Nestles bowlers, taking 3/31 from eight overs. A blazing unbeaten 101 from just 66 balls to Jacob Hetherington led Nestles to victory in 27.2 overs. Hetherington, playing for his former club on permit from Colac-South West club Stoneyford, hit seven fours and eight sixes in his innings. Williams had earlier made 48 from 70 balls. This week’s round three matches will see Port Fairy play North Warrnambool at JJ Colledge Oval, Merrivale and West Warrnambool will clash at Deakin University, the Northern Raiders will host Dennington at Purnim, Russells Creek will play Mortlake at the Mack Oval, Warrnambool are set to play Nestles at Brierly with Noorat Terang hosting Allansford-Panmure at the Noorat Recreation Reserve.
