In 2024/25 Western Canada Theatre invites you to Be Our Guest for a delectable seven-course meal of plays and musicals that will tantalize your tastebuds.
In our Sagebrush Series we start by summoning you as a witness to the chilling experiences of a young lawyer as he uncovers a deadly secret. We welcome you to put our service to the test as we regale you with ‘joie de vivre’ at our annual holiday family spectacular. We respectfully request that you pay your respects at the funniest, most surprising funeral you will ever attend. We’ll all drop in on the mayhem that stirs up when a reluctant protestor is invited to stay with his uptight lawyer and his unstoppable wife. And we request the pleasure of your company at the outrageous home of the Bennet family to answer the timeless question: “Is a man of good fortune necessarily in want of a wife?”
A more intimate affair, our Pavilion Series offers up a one-two punch of comedy and music. Shakespeare’s tragic heroines serve up a hilarious and deadly dish of revenge to their arrogant creator, and a WCT favourite songstress sets the tone for a hot, lively cabaret celebrating the birth place of Rhythm and Blues.
Last season you jumped from your seats to dance in the aisles, or shed a few tears as you left the theatre. This season we’ll bring you even more unforgettable experiences to share with your friends and community, and now–by popular demand–our all-new Sunday Matinee performances will make it even easier to extend the invitation to the whole family!
WCT is your theatre and we can’t wait to open the doors to you for our 49th incredible season serving the great city of Kamloops and the entire Southern Interior. Bon app é tit!

AND THE BEAST
LIARS AT A FUNERAL
LITTLE RED WARRIOR AND HIS LAWYER
JULIET: A REVENGE COMEDY
By PIPPA MACKIE and RYAN GLADSTONE A MONSTER THEATRE Production
In the shadowy corridors of an old Victorian theatre, a young actor meets a haunted lawyer compelled to unravel the sinister secrets that plague his nightmares. Together, they recount the tale of a young solicitor who ventures to the eerie marshlands of the English countryside to settle the affairs of a recently deceased woman. As mysterious occurrences unfold, the line between reality and the supernatural blurs. Are these dark corridors and creaking floorboards playing tricks on their minds, or are there more sinister truths lurking in the shadows?
Brace yourself for a riveting theatrical journey through the unknown that will keep you on the edge of your seat and send shivers down your spine. This haunting play ran for three decades in London’s West End as “one of British theatre’s biggest—and scariest—hits” (The Guardian).
Once upon a time in a far away land… A prince is cursed by a powerful spell that can only be broken by true love. A young woman searches for adventure in books as an escape from the simplicity of her provincial life. And a castle full of enchanted objects dream of becoming human again! Under the glow of the magical rose, can Belle and the Beast learn to love - and be loved - before the last petal falls?
This holiday season come experience the dazzling spectacle and beauty of Disney’s most popular musical. Based on the Academy Award winning animated film, this beloved fairy-tale musical quickly became a Broadway classic—running for over 13 years and earning nine Tony Award nominations. This all-new WCT production is filled with wonder, romance, and stirring songs.
When an estranged family gathers to mourn the passing of Mavis, the family matriarch, the funeral erupts into more of a dysfunctional family reunion than any of them could predict. Secrets unravel, long-buried truths emerge, a family curse keeps siblings apart, and—surprise!—it turns out grandma has exaggerated her demise. In a desperate attempt to bring everyone together, Mavis has hatched a plan to fake her death and break the curse. If everyone can keep it together, they might just make it out alive.
A new Canadian comedy that turns grief into a hilarious journey of unexpected revelations and side-splitting confessions. Liars at a Funeral is a raucous farce bursting with eccentric characters, witty banter, hidden identities, and irreverent, dark humour that will make you laugh at life, death, and family.
Red is the last remaining member of the Little Red Warrior First Nation. When he discovers a land development company has invaded his traditional territory and started condo construction, he attacks one of the engineers in a fit of rage. Red meets Larry, his court-appointed lawyer, who bails him out of jail and invites him to stay in his home—much to the dismay of Larry’s wife, Desdemona. But Desdemona’s disdain for Red soon turns to ardour, and Larry learns that when you invite a coyote into your coop, he might just walk away with all the chickens.
A wickedly funny satire about power, politics, and procreation from Governor General Award-winning playwright, Kevin Loring–a member of the Nlaka’pamux Nation from the Lytton First Nation, a WCT favourite, and writer of Where the Blood
Her name is Juliet, and she’s not dying for you anymore. In this imaginative and comedic spin on Romeo & Juliet the titular heroine refuses to die for someone she just met two days ago. “Wherefore art thou Romeo?” Who cares! Instead of pining for a boy she barely knows, Juliet takes matters into her own hands and recruits a team of Shakespeare’s most famous tragic heroines to turn the tables on their famous and arrogant creator.
This fast-paced action adventure exploring what the lives of classic female characters could be if they didn’t have to die (over and over again) has played to sell-out audiences across western Canada and North America and garnered multiple awards. The intimate setting of the Pavilion Theatre brings you right into the action, guided by virtuosic performers, and clever staging.
“ ★★★★★ Don’t miss this sure-to-sell-out gem.” –CBC

MOTOWN GET DOWN
Playful Twist on a Literary Classic A Ride Through the ‘60s Sounds of Motor City
“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.” In the regency marriage market, Elizabeth Bennet has no interest in the game of courtship. With an overzealous mother and one too many sisters looking for an ideal marriage, the Bennet family is bound to make waves in society. Love, wit, and manners are challenged when the arrogant and handsome Mr. Darcy pops up. Has Lizzie finally met her perfect (or imperfect) match?
Experience the charm and romance of the beloved literary love story, told with a modern comedic take on love, marriage, and society’s expectations of women. Bridgerton meets Baskerville , this playful, highly theatrical new adaptation features eight actors taking on multiple roles with uproarious results.
“A laugh-out-loud adaptation.” –THEATREMANIA
