More than 120 full and parttime jobs have been created with the opening of a new McDonald’s at the Weymouth Gateway retail park. It follows a significant investment by local franchisee Chris Truscott who now owns four restaurants in Weymouth and Dorchester, employing more than 400 people. He said: “Our restaurant teams are proud of the positive role we play in the communities we serve and look forward to continuing to see local customers enjoy our services on offer.” The new restaurant boasts all the latest innovations from McDonald’s. Table service is available and self-service kiosks. Smart Digital DriveThru menu boards have also been installed. The My McDonald’s App is also available to use at the restaurant.
Rubicon on hand with refreshments for bike ride
A recruitment agency will support the Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride on Sunday, July 3. Rubicon Recruitment will support the refreshments stops and provide the company’s Land Rover to help cyclists as they raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Rubicon Recruitment’s marketing manager Abigail Reeves said: “We look forward to supporting this highly successful event again this year and what better way to do this than providing our iconic Land Rover Defender as a support vehicle for recovery and assistance. “Volunteers from our team will be on hand at the event refreshment stops to cheer and motivate cyclists onward.” Ride organiser Peter Smith-Nicholls said: “Once again we are grateful to Rubicon for providing this very practical support which adds to the smooth running of the event.” Peter Smith-Nicholls founded the Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride in 1989 and has run the event for the past 34 years supported by a loyal band of volunteers and supporters. The annual event now attracts in the region of 500 cyclists. Cyclists can enter this year’s fundraising ride online at macmillan bikeride.co.uk There will be four circular rides, ranging from 38 to 100 miles, starting at Corfe Mullen and full support will be provided by marshals and mechanics en route. The 2022 Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride is sponsored by Sunseeker International and supported by bike store Primera Sport. The Hendy Group and Coles Miller Solicitors are sponsoring the cycling jersey. Further support will be provided by Blandford based metal fabricators Iracroft. A spokesperson for Macmillan said: “We need your help to make sure that people affected by cancer get the support they need to face the toughest fight of their life.
