“Having started the program, there was a sharp learning curve on our part, as to how strong the other schools were in TAPPS that we wanted to compete with. However, I have no regrets for the efforts it took to have football. For me, football still serves the purposes for which we saw the need 25 years ago. I am glad this year’s team is having great success in the win column, but the sport is more valuable to the school than wins and losses. I know how football training effects the kids that play.”

Former Athletic Director & Head of the School (2007 - 2014)

“Building a program from scratch is no small endeavor. Robert McCloy did a great job feeling out the community. Every family from Lower School to High School contributed to the program and invested in it. The program’s goal has always been a manhood development program to use the platform of football to equip young men to be Christ’s followers. I don’t think we ever lost vision of that and I think that is what Coach O is doing now and those who came before him. Robert McCloy’s leadership to start the program was a blessing and I am thankful to be a part of it. I am thankful that 25 years later it’s still going on!”

Charlie Ward

Former Head Football Coach (2007-2014) “My experience at WCS was filled with great memories that have shaped me as a Man of God and as a coach! Winning games was not the sole focus but winning souls for Jesus Christ was the main goal regardless of the outcome!”

Russell Carr Athletic Director

“The WCS football program has been another great opportunity to allow us to reach, grow and develop young men away from the traditional classroom. We have had great leaders within that program that have made an impact on young men over the years. They have poured themselves into the program and we have seen the results of those planted seeds as these young men have taken the tools and created success for themselves years after they have left WCS. The football program over the years has been a great blessing to the WCS community. Football is one of the great community connectors, from the parents, to cheerleaders, to the band and to the athletes. I am so thankful for the WCS football program and its contribution to the whole of the mission of Westbury Christian School. I am thankful for great program leaders like Coach Kris O’Neal, Coach Brian Linhart, Coach Stan Caffey, Coach Charlie Ward, Coach Mark Krimm and Coach Kenneth Okwuonu. I am proud of the first 25 years, and hopeful for the next 25 years.”

Nathan Wagner Head of the School

“I have enjoyed watching our football teams, cheer squads, and Big Blue pep bands compete and perform over the years. There is a lot involved in hosting a football game, so game day is a culmination of incredible effort and talent from a range of individuals. The football program obviously shapes and influences the young men who play the game, but it also has a positive impact on our entire school community. From the effort and sportsmanship on the field to the support and encouragement from the stands, Friday nights on our home field show the best of Westbury Christian.”
