Dux of College and the Gold Torch

Year 12 Dux of College and The Gold Torch.
William Peet Dux of College (ATAR) Prize:
The William Peet Dux of College (ATAR) Prize is the most sought after prize for students on an ATAR pathway. The prize, based on class and examination marks throughout Year 12, is a product of hard work over many years, with this year’s recipients often having to balance numerous co-curricular activities in the Arts and Sport in addition to their rigourous academic program. Congratulations to Evangelos Hajigabriel and Theodore Kang, who were presented their prize by the Head of College, Mr Ross Barron, and Chair of College Council, Mr Matthew Braysher.
Jim Walker Dux of College (VET) Prize:
This is the first year that the Dux of College (VET) Prize has been named the Jim Walker Dux of College (VET) Prize. We were very fortunate to have our previous Chair of College Council, Mr Jim Walker, after whom the prize is named, in attendance to assist the Head of College, Mr Ross Barron, in making the presentation to Arthur Jones. Arthur has worked diligently throughout his College journey and is a worthy recipient of this most prestigious award.

Additonally, two boys were awarded The Gold Torch in recognition of their exceptional and extensive service contributions to the life, ideals and values of the College.
The Gold Torch:
The Gold Torch is awarded to a Year 12 student who makes an exceptional, outstanding and extensive contribution to the life, ideals and values of the College and serves the College consistent with our core principles. This year, The Gold Torch was awarded to Lucas Spicer and Samuel White.
Lucas was the 2021 Faith and Service Prefect and has worked to conduct student-led Chapel services throughout the year, facilitated countless volunteer opportunities, and established a weekly faith discussion group. For the past two years, he has also worked with both staff and students on the Sustainability Strategic Plan. Lucas was the 2021 Mock Trial Captain and Swimming Co-captain, and has volunteered over 150 hours of his time outside of the College. Samuel was the 2021 College Captain and exemplifies the core values of Wesley College in every way. Throughout the year, he worked with Mrs Peta Wise and Arthur Jones to develop the College’s first indigenous tie, giving Wesley students the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate First People’s culture every day. He has represented Wesley with immense pride and consistently demonstrates a genuine desire to help and inspire others around him.
