A LETTER TO THE GRADUATES OF 2022 Dear Graduates, Thank you for what you have done to leave your indelible mark on your Willoughby-Eastlake family.

As you leave us, we want to encourage you to continue to have that same impact on society. The last two years have been some of the most challenging in the history of public education. You have made it through a worldwide pandemic; transitioned to an online education, returned to in-person classes, and learned about many new things, like how to attend school while remaining "socially distant." You persevered, and the experiences you've had will no doubt serve you well as you prepare for the challenges that lie ahead. You made it and you should be proud of your accomplishments!

No doubt, you will look back on your high school experience with a sense of nostalgia as you recall the sports games, the dances, the spirit weeks, the study sessions, plays, musicals, and concerts.

Cherish these memories! During these years, you have had many important adults in your life including: parents, Willoughby-Eastlake staff members, coaches, and other family members. They have been the leaders who have inspired you to become the people you are today. As you grow older, you will be the leaders for the next generation. You will set the example for your children.

Life will not always be easy and sometimes you will not be able to control the events that happen in your lives, but you can control how you respond and deal with those events, and make the outcomes the best they can be for you and those close to you. What you personally decide to do in these moments, how you respond, will be in your control. Life, happiness, and success! All of these things are there for all of you to obtain; but when the going gets tough, pause, breathe, and then act. Your future will not always be a straight line, but it will be your line.

As you move to the next phase of your lives, your Willoughby-Eastlake family will be here for you. If you need us, we will help with your squiggly line called life. You have the ability to impact those around you and each human interaction you engage in will provide you with the opportunity to be kind. Remember to be kind.
