With the proliferation of electronic devices and the bustling urban lifestyles, traditional libraries, paper books, and printing industries face formidable challenges. The original public library in Red Hook underwent an extended closure for renovation, yet the artists and residents in the area still require access to a public library. Moreover, the printing industry located around Red Hook would benefit from and collaborate with the additional programme of public library, the printing and publishing house. "Welcome to My Collection" is a housing project coupled with a new public library accompany with the embodied printing and publishing house, situated in Red Hook, New York City. This project primarily targets artists, craftsmen, and engineers providing technical support, fostering active co-living, co-working, and co-creation. They share the need to publish their works and achievements for the public's benefit. Furthermore, a substantial portion of their individual collections could be exhibited and made accessible to the public.
Reconfigured Existing Structures and Mediated Innovation
Guided by the concept of reconfiguring old existing structures for the new, the project mediates interactions both within and outside, dealing with the intermediation of the front and back side of the existing facade, facilitating engagement between the artists, craftsmen, engineers, and the public. The building’s lower part, a local branch library with private collection of the residents of artists here, is renovated in line with its neighbouring buildings of similar materials of red bricks with the metal wrapping tearing the horizontal openings, mediating the existing and the new. The building's upper part, a 3 stories co-living artists' community of similar design language in yellow bricks shows verticality. Additionally, the inclusion of a bookstore and a weekend book flea market provides the potential for spiritual communication involving private collections from the community's residents, artistic publications, and collections owned by the neighboring inhabitants.

Orchestrated Geometric Composition of Clusters
Rhythmic Skyline and Lively Co-Living Community in Red Hook Focused on reshaping old structures for the new, the project actively facilitates interactions within and beyond its confines. It skillfully navigates the mediation between the front and back side of the existing facade, fostering lively connections among artists, craftsmen, engineers, and the public, forming a new rhythmic skyline in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The Statue of Liberty in the distance and the Manhattan skyline complement with Red Hook brilliantly.
The existing structure (lower part) is composed with the heavy red brick facade and the heavy timber frame in relatively large sizes compared to the contemporary timber structure system. When it comes to wrapping the heavy timber structure while keeping the linear characteristics of the wrapping language, two pieces of matel panels are proposed to conceal the structure while a few linear gaps between the geometries are left. The gaps between the two panels show the linearity and verticality, thin and tall. This both creates the possibility of natural ventilation with the chminey and the space for HVAC system. The depth of the gaps could be adjusted according to the amount of the requirements of ventilation so that the indoor floor area could be enlarged while the air quality still remain optimized.
The lower segment transforms into a local branch library housing the private collections of resident artists, harmonizing with neighboring red brick structures adorned with metal wrapping. The upper portion, a threestory co-living artists' community constructed with yellow bricks, exudes verticality. Notably, the incorporation of a bookstore and a weekend book flea market accentuates the vibrant community spirit, enabling spiritual communication through private collections, artistic publications, and contributions from neighboring inhabitants.

An Urban Revitalization Plan for Alsop Building P
2021.2 - 2021.6 | School Work Individual Work | Academic Design (University of Liverpool)
Therefore, a gap is left between two blocks of the building for circulation and natural light. An exhibition hall is added for graduation gallery and school show, enclosing a semi-square in-between. 'Sitopia' can be a veritally developed greenhouse and a naturally lighting glass cube for enhanceing the light situation and ventilation system. Hence, two 'Sitopia' are arranged with different shape according to its position. Because of the functional modifications inside, specially designed skylights are set for the library use.
Tutor | Emma Curtin (E.Curtin@liverpool.ac.uk; +44 0151 795 9238) Site Location | Alsop Building, University of Liverpool, Brownlown Hill, Liverpool
This is an Alimental Urban Revitalization Plan for Alsop Building, located in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Referred to the concept of 'Sitopia', which is an urban possibility raised by Carolyn Steel, the city of utopia could be better created by welcoming the thinking and acting through food beause people cannot live without food in an imaginative society. Meanwhile, the whole world is suffering from the global pandemic and the cities are witnessing all unexpected problems, including the booming number of people rushing to purchase the food and necessities in the supermarket and the insufficient support of delivery and transportation. The concept of 'Food Growing Tower' in the city is solidified as a pilot project in this alimental urban revitalization plan for Alsop Building, which is constructing the vertical developed greenhouse for food growing to support the partial alimental requirements of city dewellers and whose height is modified according to the size of the population.

The oringal Alsop Building has the problems including the lack of daylight, the block issue of ground floor, the low effiency of outdoor space and the vacant design of indoor/outdoor public realms.

'SITOPIA' Challenging the Original Food System The original food system contains the food production; food distribution and food consumption. City dwellers decide where to get food mainly accorrding to the distance. If ANY of process was not working well, then the food system will go wrong. With the food system 'folded' in urban area, Assuming that the city could have its own ochards and farms in forms of 'FOOD TOWER', the food system could be benefit. The 'Sitopia' could be arranged vertically based on the demand.
The added structures not only fulfilled their functional missions as greenhouses and food towers servicing the academic community of university of Liverpool, but also witness the stories of surrounding public space and the daily lives of students and university facultiess.

Nocturne is defined as a short composition of a romantic or dreamy character suggestive of night, normally has three parts. This project, ended at my 7th massing solution for 501 studio in November, shares the similarity with Nocturne. The water filtration system normally has at least three main processes, which is embodied at the three main levels of changes in the landscape for revealing the three main processes of water infrastructures. The main structure, with a relatively small volume, is a complex composition of a romantic or dreamy character suggestive of water, also has three main massings with the functional programmes of museum, educational center and boathouse.

There are only two museums related to water while there are over sixty all over the world. Thanks to the Fairmount Water Works next to the site, this museum, aimed at being an educational center of water systems supporting the Schuylskill River water ecology and reviving the Fairmount Water Works coming into use again, challenges the conventional circulation of traditional museums and seeks for interactive experiences.

The overall orientation and arrangement of the plan as well as the elevation and vertical organization of the design show the strong sense of diagonal information refined from the urban connection between the Benjamin Franklin Pkwy and the pathway leading to the site. It is continuous looping, linear but not simply linear from a single direction. The linear is knitted back and forth with ambiguity, assuming there is no end.

Chamber of Hallucination A Complex Chamber Presenting Hallucinations from Envelope to Interior Integrated with Material of Carbon Fiber 2022.9-2022.10 | School Work Group Work | Academic Design Group Members | Wenyi Zhang; Song Zhang; Kodak Han; Sahil Shah Tutor | Danielle Willems (dwillems@design.upenn.edu)
This project is an investigation of the possibilities of hallucination in an architectural context. The overall geometry is based on three tunnels interlocking with each other and the solid members creating the hallucinated effects by means of several different applications of the mirrors, including the mirror reflecting the real world, the mirror reflecting the tunnel itself and creating the non-existing infinite space and the angled mirror reflecting single object to infinity. Integrating the weaving patterns created by the material of carbon fiber and the threedimensional drawing patterns designed upon the planar surfaces of the overall geometries, this installation is supposed to create an atmosphere of illusions so that a question of “whether it is real or fake” and “believe it or not” is thrown out to the audience.
Interactive Installation on Campus Because of the fancy black and white appearance and the interactive reflective mirror inside, Chamber of Hallucination shows its attractiveness on campus. Even there was a businessman from Warton asking us that whether it could be sold as interior furniture installation. Therefore, we all consider the importance of the public installations' interactivable characteristics should be emphasized.
01
Geometric Composition | 01 | Photos of Chamber Model on Campus | 02 - 07 | Elevation Hallucination | 08 |
02
Overall, the idea of the installation is manifesting architectural hallucination versus real world. We focus on how the tunnels could be better wrapped with carbon fibers and enclosed with partial solids, how the hallucinations could be developed in the interior void and finally how the façades could be ambiguously dizzy by means of the patterns.
Because the prefabricated pieces of the chamber are all operable and interlocking with each other perfectly, the move of this large chamber is easy and it could be pieced together quickly. Hence, we all think the logical process of disassembling the mass and well designed interlocking should be a interesting and important procedure in the design process.

"Lab It!"
A Bettered Educational System: Laboratory-Focued Spatial Typology
A Laboratory-Focused STEM Science High-School Lies in range of High Mountains
The original high school education system in Turkey follows the traditional timeline. Students of different grades occupy their own classrooms and share the common labs and workshops. The link between classrooms and labs show weak. The labs and workshops are 'sliced' by time period, which results the weak communication between students of different grades. Also, teachers often have their own office buildings and come to the classrooms until there are classes, which makes the interaction among teachers and students not vivid enough according to the top educational requirments of TUBITAK. Therefore, a laboratory-focused spatial typology is supposed. The labs and related classrooms are clustered into different groups and share a common public space, which enhance the link between classrooms and labs. Also, the shared public space can provide a suitable space of cross-grade communication of a specific subject. Moreover, clusters are also equipped with related office space to provide teachers a temporary office space when there is not class.

It is located at Gebze in Turkey among the mountains and next toTurkish National Research Institute of Electronics and Cryptology. Aimed at designing a top education insititution with the technical support of the surrounding high-tech institutions. A laboratory-focused spatial typology is proposed and clusters of compositive study and living space is illustrated arhitecturally. 'Lab It!' is aimed at forming a perfectly designed campus, which is more suitable for the lab life than traditional high school in Turkety.

An Existing-Context-Based Urban Revitalization Methodology in Philadelphia
PCDC decides to set few plans fighting against gentrification, which has happened in Chinatown North and is happening all around Chinatown. An Urban Farming Plan to build a “Sitopia”, using food to protect the Chinatown and build an anti-gentrification bubble, is proposed by PCDC.

This project proposed an urban methodology revitalizing the community and commoning the property around the site without extensive construction work and gentrification. Instead, the new structures are carefully built above the existing buildings or addtionally constructed externally based on the existing facade. Then the “Greenbelly of China” proposed as follows after taking the local organization into overall narrative: An Urban Farming Plan in Chinatown North Developed by PCDC and Grounded in Philly, Supporting the Restaurant Industries in Chinatown (RICE) as a Food Resource Backhouse A Sustainable Botanic Restaurant with Solar Energy System, Food Growing Greenhouse and Food Manufacturing Kitchen A Self-sufficient Community Integrated with Clean Energy System, Farmhouse and Food Distribution System

Greenbelly Embracing Central Oasis
7. The central oasis will be starting from the seeding and sapling.
The spatial strategy leaves the central of the site vacant for developing the central oasis. The structures are mainly proposed on the exiting buildings around the site, maximum utilizting the rooftop and the facade, building the additional structures above the existing buildings.
frame structures are proposed as a possibility of growing. 2. These frame structures could be the green facade and corridors connecting buildings. 3.
These frame structures could also be the site for additional
residential blocks. 4. The roof appearance is supposed as solar panels facing south and west while remaining the vacant frames facing north. 5. The roof pattern could be following a certain pace.

SNOW FALLING IN THE LANE
A Rest Pavilion on the Highway among the Snowy Alps A Ice-and-Snow Art Gallery with the Most Existing View of Continuous Snowy Mountain 2021.7-2021.9 | Individual Work Personal Work | Architectural Design Competition Site Location | Ju;ier Pass, Graubunden, Swiss
This project is situated on the Julier Pass among the Alps in the country of Switerland. Aimed at designing a rest stop on the endless highway in the mountainous area, this project following the inspiration from the constitution of the snowflake pattern creates a pyramid of trangluar combinations. Furthermore, in order to present the natural landscape and the ambient view of the grand snowing mountain, a three-sides corridor is arranged amonst the double-layer skin and an extra circular outdoor pathway on the second floor. The shape of the centrall space is flowing and welcoming all kinds of art exhibition and three viewing platforms are extended out the pure pyramid for sight viewing and flexible activities. Moverover,it could be supposed that travelling visitors will enjoy the relaxing time in this art pavilion while the devout visitors wil express the faithful respect to the grand landscape.
DIAGRAMMING DESIGN PROCESSES AND THE STEP-BY-STEP MASSING SOLUTIONS OF THE PROJECT
PYRAMID CATCHING THE TRANGULAR ELEMENT FROM THE SNOWFLAKE; THEN FORM A LARGE PYRIMID
Inspired by the strong symmetric characteristic of the snowflake pattern, two trangular elements become the essential formation members of this project. After the experiment of the spatial change and typological transformation, there forms a central space and the surrounded triangular corridors. Furthermore, welcoming a circular trail for the most beautiful sight scenery, its possible position both planar connection with the trigon and its vertical location according to the whole structure is also tested for a most suitable massing and planar graphic harmony.

Assuming that I was a gloomy optometrist who loves the dark and one of my friends were an optimistic weaver. The optometrist brings the umbrella to avoid the sun everyday while the weaver wants to cheer her friend up and help the optometrist get out of the dark.
Dongziguan village, located in Fuyang, Hangzhou, a city in east China, has conducted a rural revitalization trial in order to improve the villagers’ living quality and its situation of economic depression caused by rapid urbanization.
After the patient guaidance of the weaver, Mr. Darkness finally decides to open up himself and enjoys the Bright. If you are a 'Mr. Darkness', will you love the Bright? The answer is, definitly, yes.
The combination of different types of space, the use of vernacular materials and the collaboration with local craftsman bring the village a new vitality. I participated in the research of vernacular construction and represented it detailedly.

If I have the brushed and the palette, I will record the dulcet moments. I also like to record the dulcet moments during travel and sudden moments that came into my life by means of the brushes and palette. The colours represent my mood and the express the memories in my mind.
I prefer to take my camera almost everytime, recording the sequence of architecture, the wonderful lighting effects and every impressive moments of my life. Bringing the camera with me when travelling aimlessly, Recording the sequence endlessly
