Hugo Hernandez Chavez is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems. During his time at Wentworth, he completed three co-op experiences with Harvard University Information Technology as a technical support engineer, ranging from field to walk-in support.

Amanda Zweifler is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Throughout her time at Wentworth, she completed co-op experiences in the construction industry, gaining hands-on experience in project engineering, field operations, and project management.

As a first-generation college student and immigrant from Mexico, Chavez has carried with him a strong interest in educational access and using technology to help students. That interest led him to form meaningful connections outside the classroom and develop an entrepreneurial mindset, which he showcased in Accelerate’s Rapid Pitch competition.

Zweifler was a member of the women’s volleyball team, where she earned Libero of the Year honors during her senior season and became just the sixth player in Wentworth history to record more than 1,000 career digs. She is also a member of Chi Epsilon, Tau Beta Pi, and the Wentworth Honor Society, recognizing her academic achievement, leadership, and dedication to engineering.

Chavez will continue his studies at Tufts University, where he plans to pursue a Master of Science in Innovation and Management.

After graduation, Zweifler will continue her education by pursuing graduate studies while serving as an assistant coach for the Wentworth women’s volleyball team.

Nicolas Cullinan is a Construction Management major with a concentration in Commercial Real Estate and a minor in Business Management who has maintained a 4.0 cumulative GPA across all four years at Wentworth and has been named to the Dean’s List every semester. As a student in the Construction Management program, Cullinan was inducted into the Sigma Lambda Chi International Construction Honor Society in his junior year and then served as the Vice President for the induction ceremony of this year’s honorees. He was additionally given the President’s Award for Academic Excellence & Co-Curricular Involvement for the Construction Management program.

5

Alongside academics, Cullinan was a four-year member of two NCAA DIII athletic teams at Wentworth, the Men’s Ice Hockey and Baseball teams. In his athletic career, he was selected to the Conference of New England Baseball’s All-Conference Second Team in both his Junior and Senior years, and was selected as the Conference of New England Scholar Athlete of the Year in both hockey and baseball in his Senior year. Due to the success of the baseball team in making the conference tournament, Cullinan was selected as the Conference of New England Baseball’s “Elite 21” Award Winner, given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA competing in the conference tournament. Cullinan completed both of his co-op experiences at Gilbane Building Company, where he assisted both the project management and field operations teams on-site at the HarbourVest office renovation and Shattuck Hospital replacement projects. He will be returning to Gilbane full-time this fall after graduation as a Field Engineer and staying in Boston long-term.

Gary Miller is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of NELCO Worldwide, a global leader in radiation and radio frequency shielding solutions for healthcare facilities. A 1977 graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology who earned a degree in Architectural Engineering Technology, Miller has dedicated nearly five decades to NELCO, where he began his career as an architectural sales representative and advanced through a series of leadership roles to become COO and co-owner. Throughout his tenure, Miller has helped lead NELCO’s transformation into a recognized industry leader, collaborating with architects, medical physicists, and healthcare professionals to develop innovative shielding systems that enhance safety and efficiency. A strong advocate for servant leadership, Miller credits his success to the work ethic and values instilled by his parents and to the peoplefocused culture established by NELCO’s founders. He has carried those principles throughout his career, fostering a workplace built on teamwork, respect, and commitment. An engaged alumnus and longtime supporter of Wentworth, Miller has served as President of the Wentworth Alumni Association, an ex officio Trustee, a member of the Wentworth Corporation, and a member of the Board of Trustees from 2015 to 2023. In recognition of his leadership and service, he received the Philip J. Brooks Alumni Leadership Award in 2016, and the Wentworth Alumni Association Gold Leopard Award in 2020. TAKE THE CAREER OUTCOMES SURVEY BY SEPT. 1 Share your plans for life after Wentworth! Take the Career Outcomes Survey. This annual initiative captures a snapshot of hiring trends, challenges, and opportunities that each graduating class faces. Wentworth uses this information to improve our programs and to help future students make informed decisions about their major and career goals. All responses are compiled and reported out anonymously. Scan the code to take the survey today:

We ask that you complete the survey regardless of the status of your future career or education plans. If/when your plans change, you can re-take the survey to update us for up to 6 months after graduation, we will use your most recent response.

T H E ACA DE MIC PRO CESSIO N AND R EG AL IA

The academic procession and the regalia worn by the faculty, officers of the university, and students symbolize the continuing link between the modern American university and the founding of the great medieval universities in Europe. The mace of the Institute symbolizes the authority invested in the president by the Board of Trustees and is borne by the president of the Faculty Senate. The caps and gowns worn in the procession descend from medieval dress. The bachelor’s gown is a robe with long-pointed sleeves. Master’s gowns are arranged so that the arm emerges from a long sleeve through a slit at the wrist.

35

The mortarboard cap is the most common style and appeared in the 16th or 17th century. It usually has a black tassel attached. At Wentworth, the student wearing the red tassel is the Beatty Award recipient for having the highest grade point average of any graduate, and those wearing silver tassels are Alumni Award recipients being recognized for outstanding achievement.

36

Drawing inspiration from the hood on the habit worn by monks, the commencement hood demonstrates a student’s degree through its color: Architecture – blue-violet Business & Management – drab or tan Engineering – orange Industrial Design – dark brown Interior Design – bilberry Science – golden yellow The lining of the hood, the portion most visible from the rear, indicates the institution awarding the degree — black and gold for Wentworth. Solid-colored cords worn around the neck by students indicate that they graduated with honors. A gold cord indicates highest honors (summa cum laude), a red cord indicates high honors (magna cum laude), and a white cord indicates honors (cum laude). An orange cord represents the Engineering Honor Society; a navy and silver cord represents the Tri-Alpha Honor Society for first generation college students; and a red, white, and blue cord is worn by Veterans.
