Maya Rogers

President & CEO, Tetris

In his eight years as CEO, Mike has established himself as a visionary leader with a passion for advancing not only VHB, but the entire AEC industry as together we face unprecedented opportunities and challenges, from diversifying our workforce to advancing more sustainable, equitable communities. VHB’s first non-founder president, Mike has steered the company through a transformational period of strategic growth, geographic expansion, and technological advancement. Known for his personable style and enthusiastic pursuit of excellence, Mike inspires VHB’s diverse team of 2,000 engineers, scientists, planners, and designers to continually raise the bar by embracing new technologies and finding innovative solutions to our clients’ complex challenges. He reminds us that at the heart of our work, we are making our communities and our world a better place, one project at a time. The outcomes of VHB’s efforts over the past eight years include a doubling of firm revenues and continuous increases in profitability.

As he sets the course for the sustained success of VHB’s generational company, Mike’s commitment to continuously strengthening the firm’s differentiating culture and values is evident in everything he does.

Recognizing the need for a cultural shift, Mike is helping to ignite the conversation around diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the AEC industry. Through his leadership role in the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Design Professionals Council (DPC), Mike is a tireless and vocal advocate for advancing diversity in the workplace and creating more inclusive environments.

Throughout his career, Mike has had the opportunity to help enhance our nation’s cities by working on some of the most complex mobility challenges, including highway and multimodal systems in Boston; Philadelphia; New York; Washington, DC; and Orlando.

During his 25 years at VHB, Mike founded and helped build the firm’s transit and rail practice, directed the company’s transportation practice, helped establish the Tysons office in Virginia, and led VHB’s emergence as a premier integrated services consultant in Florida.

Mike is active in numerous professional associations, including ACEC, the ACEC Research Institute Board of Directors (Chair), and the ACEC DPC Executive Committee; Women’s Transportation Seminar; Design-Build Institute of America; American Public Transportation Association; American Society of Civil Engineers; and the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association. He previously served as Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Delaware, his alma mater. He is also a member of Wentworth's Board of Trustees.

Mike resides in Boston with his wife Joan. They have three adult children and two grandchildren.

Maya Rogers is the President and CEO of Tetris, an iconic video game brand that has captured the hearts of gamers worldwide for nearly four decades. This includes game development, global licensing, marketing, brand management, merchandising and IP enforcement. Under Maya’s leadership, Tetris remains one of the most beloved games by fans worldwide with the introduction of top ranked licensee titles including Tetris 99, Tetris Effect, Puyo Puyo Tetris and more. She has also led the expansion of Tetris as a lifestyle brand, which today has more than 90 licensees and promotional partners globally, who now offer innovative Tetrisbranded games, consumer products and experiences, including apparel, toys, décor, novelties and more.

Prior to heading Tetri, Maya steered cross-culturalization and development efforts for Tetris Online China, Sony Computer Entertainment America and American Honda.

Maya is also a Founding Partner of Blue Startups, Hawaiʻi's first venture accelerator. Since 2014, Blue Startups has invested in over 100 companies, primarily focused on supporting scalable technology companies with a special emphasis on sustainability, female founders, gaming, and travel tech. Through her extensive global network, Maya has helped transform Blue Startups into a vibrant nexus of entrepreneurial activity, bridging the gap between Asia and North America while putting Hawaiʻi on the map as a thriving startup ecosystem. In addition to her professional endeavors, Maya actively contributes to various organizations. She currently serves on the boards of the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center, American Red Cross Hawaiʻi Chapter, Women's Fund of Hawaiʻi, Cushing Academy, Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women and Children, and the Chamber of Commerce of Hawai’i. She is also a national council member of the Tiffany Circle, a Red Cross women’s philanthropist organization, and a member of the U.S.-Japan council, an educational organization that contributes to strengthening U.S. Japan relations.

Maya holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Pepperdine University and an Executive MBA from Pepperdine Graziadio School of Business and Management.

STUDENT SPEAKER: VINCENT RUDOLPH 10:30 A.M.

While pursuing his degree, Vincent Rudolph found his true passion in student advocacy through Wentworth Student Government. Having joined his first year, he went on to serve as President this past year. He dedicated much of his time outside the classroom to meeting with faculty and staff to help improve the student experience for all. When not working on student initiatives, you could usually find him somewhere on campus chatting with friends.

Rudolph completed three co-op experiences, with his two most recent at Draper Labs, where he will be starting full-time as an Electrical Engineer this September. He is grateful for the knowledge and opportunities Wentworth has provided and aspires to one day run for public office or enter academia to continue making a positive impact.

STUDENT SINGER: ALEXA SOFIA MATTHEWS 10:30 A.M.

Alexa Matthews is completing a bachelor's degree in computer information systems. After graduation she hopes to move into cybersecurity and information security, staying in the city.

Emma Conant is passionate about the outdoors and creating products that make it more accessible to all. She has completed co-ops with L.L. Bean, Topdrawer, and Janji, gaining experience in product development, materials research, and technical design.

Conant is the founder of EVERYBODY, a multi-award-winning, gender-inclusive swimwear brand focused on serving the LGBTQ+ community and others who feel underserved by traditional swimwear options. Through Wentworth’s Accelerate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, she developed the business from concept to production.

Conant is also a member of Frauhaus, Industrial Designers for Diversity, where she supports operational efforts. After graduation, she plans to launch EVERYBODY publicly in September and spend some time outdoors before her next adventure.

STUDENT SINGER: ALEXA SOFIA MATTHEWS 3:00 P.M.

Alexa Matthews is completing a bachelor's degree in computer information systems. After graduation she hopes to move into cybersecurity and information security, staying in the city.

The academic procession and the regalia worn by the faculty, officers of the university, and students symbolize the continuing link between the modern American university and the founding of the great medieval universities in Europe.

The mace of the Institute symbolizes the authority invested in the president by the Board of Trustees and is borne by the president of the Faculty Senate.

The caps and gowns worn in the procession descend from medieval dress. The bachelor’s gown is a robe with long-pointed sleeves. Master’s gowns are arranged so that the arm emerges from a long sleeve through a slit at the wrist.

The mortarboard cap is the most common style and appeared in the 16th or 17th century. It usually has a black tassel attached. At Wentworth, the student wearing the red tassel is the Beatty Award recipient for having the highest grade point average of any graduate, and those wearing silver tassels are Alumni Award recipients being recognized for outstanding achievement.

Drawing inspiration from the hood on the habit worn by monks, the commencement hood demonstrates a student’s degree through its color:

Architecture – blue-violet

Business & Management – drab or tan

Engineering – orange

Industrial Design – dark brown

Interior Design – bilberry

The lining of the hood, the portion most visible from the rear, indicates the institution awarding the degree — black and gold for Wentworth.

Solid-colored cords worn around the neck by students indicate that they graduated with honors. A gold cord indicates highest honors (summa cum laude), a red cord indicates high honors (magna cum laude), and a white cord indicates honors (cum laude). An orange cord represents the Engineering Honor Society; a navy and silver cord represents the Tri-Alpha Honor Society for first generation college students; and a red, white, and blue cord is worn by Veterans.
