Wendy Horton, MBA, PharmD, FACHE, is the Senior Vice President and President of Adult Services at UCSF Health, one of the nation’s top 10 hospitals. A nationally recognized healthcare leader, she has dedicated her career to advancing strategic growth, operational excellence, and patient-centered care while remaining deeply committed to community health and well-being. With a rare combination of clinical pharmacy expertise and leadership in top-ranked institutions, she has built a career grounded in safety, quality, and collaboration. Before joining UCSF Health, she served as CEO of UVA Health University Medical Center and System COO of UVA Health, a $4.5 billion health system employing more than 17,000 team members and 1,200 faculty in Charlottesville, Virginia. During her five-year tenure, she played a key role in statewide expansion, forming partnerships and acquisitions that strengthened clinical, operational, and financial integration. Under her leadership, the organization doubled in size, expanded access to care, and implemented workforce programs, including the earn-while-you-learn model. She also fostered safety and transparency, created opportunities for open communication through forums and town halls, established the Center for Advanced Practice for more than 700 APPs, and reduced the hospital’s reliance on travel nurses by over 75%. She previously held the role of Chief Administrative Officer at The Ohio State University College of Medicine within a $4 billion health system, where she improved recruitment efficiency by 81%, implemented a $340 million physician compensation plan, and grew research funding by 28.4% to $269.4 million.
