The Wendover Society Relaunch
Long-standing Society relaunched with new leadership and passion
After more than a 2-year hiatus The Wendover Society has been relaunched with a new committee led by the Chair, Ron Petersen (in photo). The Society's original mission ‘to protect the charm & scale of Wendover’ remains unchanged and the Society hopes to set about its work from September, in close collaboration with the Wendover Parish Council and other local groups.
The committee is now fully formed and has had its first kick-off meeting. Committee members are: Jenny Senior, Marion Clayton, Sue Thornton, Pat Riley-Page, Anita Duckenfeld, Bob Lewis and Andrew Burnett.
As part of the relaunch, there will be a Harvest Supper and very short AGM held at the Memorial Hall on 1 October (see advert page 4). Our MP, Rob Butler, will be guest speaker and there will be an opportunity for residents of Wendover to share their views as to the most important initiatives the Society can commit itself to.
The Harvest Supper is open to all current and potential new members of the society. We can promise good food and drink and a stimulating exchange of ideas.
To secure tickets for this event (at £15 each), please go to the Wendover Society web site: www.wendoversociety.org.uk.
Ron Petersen says: “I’m thrilled to be part of the team that is working to get this wonderful society back on its feet again. Our mission couldn’t be more important, given the threats which Wendover faces with HS2, incessant building development, planning changes, the RAF Halton closure and post-covid challenges.”
