In a small town near the Western Cape, there were a brother and a sister named Themba and Zenzele.

The siblings liked to play football with their schoolmates.

One day, while playing football, Zenzele accidently kicked the ball and it hit Themba’s side of the face.

Everyone was shocked with what had happened, but Themba was strong and just smiled.

His friends noticed that he had broken his front tooth and they all started to worry.

Zenzele replied “Remember?

He is the dentist that took care of my teeth when they were growing in.”

Themba said “Oh I see…”

Later that day, Zenzele’s and Themba’s mother took them to see the dentist.

Themba was scared.

While their mother checked them in, Zenzele and Themba saw the dentist giving a pretty colored toothbrush to one of their classmates.

The dentist looked at his chart and then looked up at Themba.

“It looks like you are up next, young man.”

Themba said to his sister, “Can you come with me?”

Zenzele replied “Sure!” They both then followed the dentist.

“You can sit on this special chair; It’s like a rocket ship ” said the dentist Zenzele and Themba giggled.

The dentist turned on a light and asked Themba to open his mouth like a hungry lion “Rawr” Themba said.

“Very good. Now let’s see what happened to your tooth” smiled the dentist.

“Well, it looks like you sir, have a cavity” replied the dentist.

“What’s that?” asked Themba “That’s when bad things start to destroy your teeth, and that is why it is very important to take good care of them.”

“Let me introduce you to the Cool Brush Squad” said the dentist. He handed the book to Themba. “The Squad are kids just like you who take good care of their teeth.”

Themba opened up the book and started to read the song: “Put your toothpaste on your

brush, And don’t do it in a rush.

Move the brush back and forth,

On your teeth south, west, east

and north! Make sure to brush all of your teeth, In the back, above, and beneath.

Brush, brush, brush, brush!”
