Wenatchee Valley Humane Society (WVHS) is a non-profit agency that provides a refuge for vulnerable pets, offering them a second chance at life. WVHS’s goal is to improve the lives of pets and people in North Central Washington through preventive and proactive programs. To meet these goals they have developed the Pets Are Family and the Safe Pet Initiatives.

The Safe Pets Initiative (SPI) incorporates bite prevention training as well as outreach and education for responsible pet ownership. The SPI also provides behavioral workshops and access to affordable veterinary care.

The Pets Are Family initiative advocates for pet-friendly housing, supports pet-friendly businesses, builds out lost pet reunification, and supports self-rehoming programs. This program also manages an intake-to-placement processes that identifies the best possible environment for incoming shelter animals. Wenatchee Valley Humane Society also operates a free Pet Pantry to support pet owners in times of need.
