Meet the Construction apprentices and some of the team behind the scenes.
Carpentry Apprentice: “Since joining, I have been exposed to a variety of carpentry jobs. My site manager is very helpful and was an apprentice himself so knows the process I’m going through. I can always approach him for advice.”
Quintain’s contractors at Wembley Park are committed to providing over 136 construction apprenticeship opportunities across site. We have delivered 25 apprenticeship opportunities to date, across different trades ranging from carpentry, engineering, business administration, hoist driving and traffic marshalling.
Brickwork Apprentice: “I have really enjoyed my time at Wembley Park so far. I have achieved high marks in two practical tests and building principle tests. I have learned a lot from colleagues and supervisors who are very helpful and encouraging.”
There are over 55 new apprenticeship opportunities coming up over this summer, specialising in bricklaying, electrics, drylining and carpentry. These opportunities are supported by the team at Brent Works who provide a tailor-made service to our contractors to support their upcoming apprenticeship vacancies and local employment offer.
Speaking on his experience working with the apprentice program Contract Manager, said "Our apprentice has been eager and conscientious from our first meeting, organised via Brent Works. His punctuality and attendance have been excellent since starting on site which is the basis for anyone interested in a successful career in construction.”

About Brent Works The Brent Works service is aimed at supporting Brent residents to access apprenticeships and employment opportunities within the Borough and pan London.
Wembley Park: "What advice would you give to anyone who wants to get into the construction industry?" Civil Engineering Apprentice: "Be patient, ask as many questions as possible and be punctual. Try to learn as much as you can and progress." Carpentry Apprentice: “Go for it! Especially if you are someone who enjoys physically challenging work. There are loads of different trades that can be explored.”

Planning permission granted for Boxpark Wembley, which will house 27 food and beverage providers, a 20,000 sq ft events space and 2,000 person capacity venue.

Progress to date includes: - The completion of upgrades to the first section of Olympic Way - Installation of new bespoke light columns and banners - New paving and services including useable kiosk space for events - New trees from around the globe - New fence lines and interfaces with adjacent buildings - Relocation of services and installation of new infrastructure to serve Wembley Park - Early works relocating services to the next section of Olympic Way Key works taking place this quarter: - Installation of new benches and bins along Olympic Way - Public WiFi expansion - A new audio system along Olympic Way - Continuation of the Northern section of Olympic Way - Upgraded security systems

Progress to date includes: - Planning approval granted on 14 February 2018 - RG Group appointed as the Principal Contractor and works have commenced - Site compound to be established Key works taking place this quarter: - Ground works to progress further - Service connections to commence - Steel frame to be erected Completion - Winter 2018
NW07 & NW08
Contractor: Wates CCS Score: 44/50 Construction underway to deliver 361 residential units, retail, community space and public realm. Progress to date includes: - Concrete frame now complete - All offsite manufactured bathroom pods delivered and installed - All blocks are now watertight with brickwork nearing completion - Utility connections complete and the buildings now energised Key works taking place this quarter: - Scaffold to be removed and balconies installed on remaining residential blocks - Internal residential fit-out ongoing - External paving works outside of the side boundary are underway - Public realm works within the site boundary to be complete Completion - Phased September December 2018

Contractor: McLaren Construction CCS Score: 42/50 Works continue to deliver 340 residential units and retail at ground floor level. Progress to date includes: - Concrete frame has now been completed - All bathroom pods have now been delivered to site and are being installed across all floors - Two benchmark apartments have been completed - Fitting out works including partitions, mechanical and electrical progressed to floor ten Key works taking place this quarter: - All windows to be installed - Continuation of internal fit out - Continuation of envelope installation which will help give the building a full waterproof seal - Continuation of installation of waste disposal system Completion - September 2019

South West Lands (SWL)
Progress to date includes: - Completion of concrete lift and stair core - District Heating works completed and continuing throughout site - Installation of the rubbish disposal system on Wembley Park Boulevard including completion of tunnel under the Spanish Steps
Progress to date: - Frame of the first building now complete - Frame of the second building has reached the 7th floor and frame to third building has now started - Brickwork to SW03A is well underway and has started on SW03B - Internal fit out is progressing and a first sample apartment has been delivered - Buildings now linked to Envac waste system and District Heating Network - Welfare area in Red Car park in use and a bridge has been installed over South Way
Contractor: McLaren Construction CCS Score: 43/50 The site will comprise of two buildings, one being 150 homes and the second consisting of a 126,000 sq ft office block. The site will be working later, from 6pm - 7pm for an initial period of one month. Works of a quiet nature will be undertaken to lift materials with the crane.
Key works taking place this quarter: - Continuation of the concrete frame, constructing the floor slabs - Commence nvelope enstallation for the glazing support system and glazing - Further installation of the waste disposal system Completion - February 2020

E03 – Canada Gardens
Progress to date incudes: - All four tower cranes are now set up - Block 1 core now completed - Site cabins in place
Construction underway to deliver 743 apartments, 91 space coach park, retail space along with a podium garden and community outdoor amenity space.
Key works taking place this quarter: - Cores of Block 2 & 3 - Ground floor slabs ongoing - Fit out of site cabins

Contractor: John Sisk and Sons Ltd CCS score: 45/50 Sisk have proudly achieved their highest CCS score, 45, for any of their projects to date.

Monitored on a daily basis, the CCS's code of practice focus on the following aspects: - Care about Appearance - Respect the Community - Protect the Environment - Secure everyone's Safety - Value their Workforce
The average combined scores from across the four framework contractor's sites are outlined below: - McAleer & Rushe 45/50 - McLaren 42/50 - Sisk 43/50 - Wates 44/50 Nationally only 27% of sites in the scheme scored 40 or more points, which is the benchmark for Wembley Park and is categorised as "Excellent" by CCS. All four contractors met this, and in some areas were marked as "Exceptional"
Safety Awards: June To reward and encourage our record of outstanding safety at Wembley Park, we are proud to host a monthly safety award. Our June winner is Shaukat from John Sisk and Sons Ltd. He was chosen for being extra vigilant on the security desk for dayto-day activities.
