Our handy gift guide has an abundance of imaginative ideas arranged in categories to spark ideas that match your recipient’s personality. All you have to do is grab a big glass jar, fill it with gifts in a theme, and pop on one of our gorgeous gift labels. All this activity around gifting has made me decide to get super organised this year. I know exactly what I am going to do. I have already made up a list of all the gifts I need to give; mine includes a couple of nieces and nephews, siblings, parents and some out of town guests. I am going to add some extras like candles, soaps and a few bottles of wine – then there is always the opportunity to give a gift to someone that pops up unexpectedly. I am going to order my gifts from our online store. That way all my presents arrive beautifully wrapped and I don’t have to stand in a queue at the till or carry parcels home. I know it sounds a bit like cheating, but our online team always throw in a few samples and free goodies that make the whole experience so rewarding. A study of the brain using functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has shown donating money to charity triggers the same pleasure and reward systems in the brain as food and sex. In another study, students were asked to practice five random acts of kindness a week for six weeks. The study found they experienced a more than 40 percent increase in self-reported happiness levels.
