Welcome

Congratulations on getting our new 2025-2026 directory of wellness services and community resources.

This is another momentous year marked with achievements performed by dedicated and committed staff and volunteers who put their best foot forward, working together to create a welcoming and supportive environment for our community. Everyone acted with purpose to develop trusting and caring relationships that are critical in supporting vulnerable older adults.

This year, we concluded Brella’s 2021-2024 strategic plan and achieved the following:

• We maintained a strong financial position despite funding not keeping pace with inflation.

• We rebranded from Seniors Come Share Society to Brella Community Services Society.

• We received funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada to implement a project aimed at developing inclusive communities for people living with dementia and their caregivers.

• We initiated an IT modernization project to bring our IT infrastructure and administrative processes up to date.

• We strengthened our relationships with partners and increased our impact in the community.

• We par tnered with academia to provide students with opportunities for practical learning and to contribute to the talent pool in the health care sector.

• We developed effective community engagement strategies to nurture relationships with influencers.

• We par ticipated in over 35 community groups, including communities of practice.

• We received high ratings from participants and community members on the quality of our services.

• We became affiliated with Crescent Housing Society, a provider of affordable housing.

On behalf of the Brella and Crescent teams, I would like to express my gratitude to our board members who generously donated time and expertise. Their gifts are particularly appreciated at a time when Brella and Crescent Housing joined forces to make a bigger difference in our community.

We appreciate the support of our funding partners: Fraser Health, United Way of BC, Government of BC, Government of Canada, Peace Arch Hospital Foundation, Community Foundations of Canada, Surrey Cares, our business sponsors and individual donors.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many sponsors who purchased advertisements and made this publication possible. Together, we can create a caring community!
