Congratulations for getting the 2023-2025 edition of our popular directory of community resources. You may recognize this directory as historically published by Seniors Come Share Society. While we have rebranded, we remain the same organization committed to enable older adults their families and caregivers to lead full, engaged and meaningful lives.

A few iterations ago, the community named this directory the “Blue Book” and more recently the “Golden Book”. The monikers were assigned based on the colour of the cover at the time. Now that our new colours include both blue and gold, we hope that the community will adopt the “Brella Book”.

Why did we update our brand? Over the last 46 years, we have been responsive to the need of our aging population. We also realized that our community has changed since our inception. It has changed in the way of diversity and in the way our participants, some of whom not identifying as seniors, are wanting to receive support. Aging adults may need a little help, but they also want to be perceived as capable, vibrant, and valuable members of the community. More and more, they wish to distance themselves from labels that suggest otherwise. In their service providers, they seek a person-centred

environment where they can access the services they choose, delivered in the way they like and when they want them.

Changing our name and look was a decision that we made with careful consideration. We felt it needed to be done to better reflect our vision for safe, caring, and inclusive communities where aging adults can experience meaningful lives within their own aspirations and abilities.

I hope that you find our resource directory helpful. If you would like to learn more about Brella and the services we provide, please go to brellasociety.ca or call us at 604-531-9400.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Wellnessnews Choices for Healthy Living® for coordinating the publishing of this resource and the many sponsors who purchased advertisement and made this publication possible.
