message OF WELCOME from General Manager David Dome
Tonight is the much anticipated return of Phoenix football and I couldn’t be more excited; for the club, the players, the sponsors and most importantly you the fans.

It’s been almost four months since we played our last match - a 3-0 win versus Melbourne Victory at home – and ours was the form team of the Hyundai A-League competition. We were sitting in third place and the idea of a home Final at Sky Stadium was becoming more and more of a possibility.
Then the Covid-19 situation happened, affecting us all as New Zealand was effectively put ‘on hold’ as we entered lockdown and waited out the storm.
In the meantime, our players maintained their fitness in isolation as the club and League worked hard on plans to resume.
So tonight’s match is all about re-capturing that momentum and getting ourselves back on course for Finals football. We’ll be facing top of the table Sydney FC, a team we have great respect for but are not intimidated by – we look forward to being tested by the defending champs. Our biggest regret is that we won’t be able to play in front of our fans at Sky Stadium again this season. But we know you’ll be tuning into the match tonight on Sky Sport 7, to support the Phoenix from afar.
Getting to this situation has been a long, hard road, so it’s a big thanks to everyone who has helped us get back here.
And a special note of thanks has to go to the players and staff who have relocated to Sydney so the League can complete – and to the families left behind. It’s a quite extraordinary sacrifice which we as fans all appreciate greatly!
Thank you for watching tonight’s game and we hope you’re as excited as we are to resume our march towards Finals football.
COYN!
