The Exchange Programme
For the last few years we have offered the chance for a small number of Wellington College and Wellington College International Bangkok (WCIB) students to visit and learn from each other's countries and campus's for a full Wellington College International Educational experience.
Participating students are paired up, under the guidance of David Wilson, International Academic Director at Wellington College, with like-minded students from their host school.
Students meet online under guidance initially to get to know each other and share common interests and expectations.
Parents and family members are also introduced to each other to begin forming what we hope will be long lasting connections and friendships.
Each host school establishes the connections and offers support throughout the organisational process and exchange visit.
When do Exchanges take place?
Exchanges to Bangkok are approximately 2 weeks in length - historically over the October half term to include 1 week of holidays and 1 week of term time.
A reciprocal arrangement of two weeks would be put in place for the exchange student from WCI Bangkok to return to the UK in the same academic year.
Where will you live?
UK Students will homestay for the duration at the family home of a student from WCI Bangkok. There are no boarding facilities available at WCI Bangkok. Homestay accommodation, activities and support will need to be provided by the UK student’s family for the WCIBangkok exchange student. There are currently no boarding facilities available in College for this exchange programme. Ideally UK applicants will live locally and support the exchange student by also being a day pupil for those 2 weeks.
Wellington College International Bangkok (WCI Bangkok) opened in August 2018. It is a coeducational day school for 2–18 years. Lessons are taught in English with a mixture of Thai and International students. The school offers IGCSE’s and A levels.
It boasts an impressive campus with Olympic size outdoor swimming pool and state of the art theatre. There are separate buildings for junior and senior schools and like Wellington College UK has a nearby golf course.
It is situated in the Saphan Sung District between the airport and bustling city centre.
Location
The area is close to major landmarks such as Siam Park City, one of Asia’s largest amusement and water parks, and the Rajamangala National Stadium, Thailand’s premier venue for football matches and concerts.
Nearby attractions also include the Kwan Riam Floating Market, where visitors can enjoy authentic Thai food and cultural experiences, as well as shopping destinations like Seacon Square and The Mall Bangkapi, both just a short drive away. Its location provides convenient access to leisure and cultural activities while remaining pleasantly removed from the hustle and bustle of central Bangkok.

What types of things will I be doing?
Students taking part in the Wellington College International Exchange will be fully immersed in daily school life. Whether in Bangkok or London, exchange students join timetabled lessons, sports teams, clubs, and societies, experiencing firsthand the vibrant academic and extracurricular culture of their host school.
Beyond the classroom, students will discover the sights, sounds, and flavours of their host city. From exploring bustling streets and historic landmarks to tasting authentic local dishes and joining in traditional celebrations, the exchange offers a rich cultural immersion.

Cultural exploration: Visit iconic attractions in Bangkok and London, enjoy local food, and take part in customs and festivals.
Adventure trips: In previous years, students have travelled to Khao Yai National Park during Year Ten Adventurous Trip Week, enjoying hiking, camping, and wildlife spotting in one of Thailand’s top destinations.
What costs are involved?
Flight costs will need to be considered and be covered by the parents of students. This is a reciprocal arrangement, so no accommodation costs are involved.
Will I need to arrange insurance?
Students will need to arrange their own travel insurance however students will be covered - on campus - by the College’s medical insurance.
