EDUCATION STRATEGY

INTRODUCTION

As we plan for the School’s future, this strategy will serve as both a foundation and a guiding framework for our decision-making. It underpins our collective responsibility to prepare pupils not only for success but also for meaningful participation in the wider world, equipping them to make a positive and lasting contribution.

I hope that the aims and intentions set out in this document will prove both inspiring and reassuring. While the world has changed considerably in the 450 years since the founding of our School, there remains a clear continuity of purpose. The values that define a Wellingborough education endure and remain as relevant today as they have ever been

Purpose

To develop confident, rounded, and grounded young people, equipped with the empathy and energy to make a positive difference to the world

Vision

We deliver a first-class all-round education - nurturing intellectual curiosity, confidence, and ambition. Through this, we cultivate scholarship and inspire leadership, whilst fostering a strong sense of community within the School and beyond.

Our objectives:

For each pupil to achieve their best possible academic outcomes

To create a culture of continual improvement with high levels of aspiration

To offer a broad, innovative, inspiring, and relevant curriculum for each pupil

For students to enjoy a highly engaging supra-curricular programme of events and activities

For pupils to experience consistently strong teaching by dedicated and innovative teachers

To make purposeful use of technology to enhance teaching and learning

AIM 2: BUILD CHARACTER FOR LIFE

We will pursue the School’s core purpose of producing rounded, grounded individuals, ensuring our pupils encounter experiences designed to help them acquire the skills, awareness, and character required to successfully navigate their futures

Our objectives:

The development of young people with a strong moral compass

To create a culture that values kindness, respect, and tolerance

To offer an experience that builds and rewards resilience

For pupils to enjoy a school journey that broadens horizons and develops social responsibility

To establish a safe, supportive community, where pupils know how to stay healthy in body and mind

To offer a broad and enriching co-curricular programme

For pupils to have access to an outstanding and engaging programme of leadership development

AIM 3: BE A STRONG, CONNECTED COMMUNITY

We will ensure our pupils understand and cherish their place in the School, local, and global communities. We will harness the energy, commitment, and talents of the wider Wellingborough family of parents, alumni, and staff for the benefit of our pupils, and we will in turn ensure those in the wider community feel connected and benefit from their involvement with the School.

Our objectives:

To attract, recruit, and retain high-quality staff

To offer purposeful training and development pathways for all staff

To ensure staff feel valued and connected to the School

To be an integral part of our local community, connected through meaningful partnerships for mutual benefit

To foster strong connections with parent and Old Wellingburian networks for the benefit of the whole School community

To inculcate in our pupils an appreciation of their place in the world, and an awareness of the opportunities they have to make a positive difference throughout their lives
