Welcome to the Nursery at Wellingborough School At Wellingborough School Nursery, our experienced Early Years Practitioners and our child-centred approach extend the loving, nurturing environment you provide at home, ensuring your child has a smooth and happy transition into education.

We know starting nursery is a big step for you and your children; we have an open-door policy and always want our parents and carers to feel welcome.

Building relationships with our parents helps us better understand and educate our children. We have an online journal called Tapestry and the ‘nearly live’ learning platform Seesaw that allows us to share moments from your child’s day. You can see they are happy and settled and share in their experiences and achievements. These programs allow us to introduce children to the digital landscape in a secure, fun and unintimidating way.

By getting to know our parents and observing the children, our skilled nursery staff create a tailored experience. Using child-led, in-the-moment learning, they curate individual experiences that enrich communication and language skills and inspire creativity. These spontaneous activities give children ownership of their education, and sharing them with others builds our nursery community.

Our curriculum is ambitious, encompassing both the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC). By blending child-led and more structured adult-directed teaching, our children develop numeracy, literacy and communication skills securely and at a pace appropriate to each child.

This blended approach is at the heart of our excellent nursery education. Our staff find the right balance for your child, ensuring they are always engaged and learning. We gradually tilt the balance as the year progresses, introducing more adult-directed education to ensure all of our children are school ready.

Being integrated into Wellingborough School allows our nursery to take advantage of some superb resources and facilities. The children benefit from access to specialist teachers for games, music, dance and woodworking, boosting their physical development and coordination as well as inspiring creativity. We have access to the large secure outdoor spaces, with exciting trips to local woodlands, helping our children build a relationship with the natural world, explore in safety and learn in inspiring environments.

We encourage children to be independent. From self-registering in the morning, to taking care of their book bags and blazers and putting away their cup after a snack. These moments help build confidence along with personal and social responsibility.

Our Nursery is an inclusive and diverse space. Our world is a beautiful tapestry of cultures and creativity that we want to share with our children. Not only do our children all take part in our Christmas show and spring parade, but we have activities for Diwali, Eid and Chinese New Year amongst others. These events are not only great fun, they are also opportunities for the children to reflect and develop their emotional literacy.

By the end of the year, our children are school-ready, but they are also engaged learners, equipped to excel.

We want to inspire our creatives, enable our explorers, accelerate the academics and encourage all enquiring minds. Nursery is such an important stage in a child’s learning, social and emotional development, our amazing team delivers the best possible start to your child’s education adventure.
