hello FROM KRISTI

I

hope this finds you well fed after Thanksgiving! Time to hit the golf course, swimming pool, or bike trails before Christmas! That’s the beauty of winter in South Texas; we can typically do all of the above this time of year! I remember, when I was younger, jumping in the swimming pool after we opened presents one year. At the time, I didn’t realize how lucky I was. I had never seen snow. I’ve only seen snow a few times in my life, actually--once on a skiing trip with my youth group from church, the time it snowed in McAllen, and then on a trip to promote South Texas in Fort Wayne, Indiana. That’s the trip that sold me on never, ever, wanting to live anywhere cold. We almost got snowed in, I barely made it to the airport, and I closed my eyes once we got on board because I couldn’t believe the plane was going to be able to take off, and I was scared to death.

I don’t know how you do it! As for me, I’m thankful for South Texas-growing up here, raising a family here, growing friends here, and, most of all, not shoveling snow here. • We’re just connecting the dots,

Kristi

SEASON SPONSORS

A

small, unassuming brick house, located in an older part of McAllen, is home to a vast operation, vast in the sense that The Lamb’s Loom, a little boutique yarn shop, is the epicenter for distributing--around the globe--thousands of donated knitted and crocheted items. The Lamb’s Loom is a nonprofit ministry providing items of comfort and warmth to a variety of organizations and projects, locally and worldwide. Among the recipients: orphanages in Mexico, fire-devastated regions in Washington, and Tim’s Coats, serving the Rio Grande Valley.

The Boutique Shop offers yarn in a variety of colors and textures for sale, in addition to starter kits.
